Luca’s POV
The bouquet of flowers I had gotten on the way home was a mixture of lilies and tulips, and I paired it with a bunch of balloons and a wrapped gift on the side.
It’s a little past six and I couldn’t wait to be home already. I couldn’t wait to get home to my wife and our babies.
Work has been quite stressful for the past month, the mafia aspect, to be specific.
After news of my wife giving birth circulated around, I already knew that the amount of enemies I have was automatically gonna triple, and in order to keep my family safe, I was gonna have to be more at alert.
The mafia clan had thrown a party in celebration after the birth of our babies, and I had purposely attended it alone, keeping my wife and kids far away from a gathering like that because it was filled with dangerous people from top to bottom.
“Your enemies are gonna start attacking you even more now that you have a successor. People who have hoped to replace you if you ended up dying without an heir are most certainly not pleased right now. Your wife is gonna be so many people’s target now, and your babies. You’d have to remind everyone of their place any moment from now so they’d all learn to stay away.”
One of the brothers murmured, a serious look on his face. Thzt wasn’t what I had expected to hear on accepting their invitation to dinner, seeing as I was expecting them to finally cash in their debt which I owed them for helping me with a lead that helped in rescuing Sofia from Ryan.
I cocked my head to the side. We’ve hung out here and there throughout the past year and that was that. We weren’t friends in the slightest so there was no reason for them to be telling me this.
“Why are you telling me this? I expected a different kind of conversation tonight.”
The other twin snorted. “Cause we have ears and we’ve heard things. It’s a choice to make a move before them or not,”
“When are you gonna cash in your favor? It’s been years,” I demanded and then laughed softly after exchanging a glance.
“In due time.” They responded at the same time.
Their advice helped a great deal, and I took it to heart. When the house almost got broken into, a month after the delivery, after getting the name of who was behind the entire plan, instead of ordering my men to go fetch him and his goons, I headed over myself and killed them slowly, right in the main room of their mafia. I made sure to make the death as gruesome as possible, knowing It was gonna send a very clear message around.
On getting home, I quietly closed the door behind me and inhaled deeply, reveling in the strong smell of newborn babies permeating the atmosphere strongly. I never could have thought that I’d one day be addicted to the smell of babies until I had mine. It was a mixture of powder, lotion, baby oil and that unique smell that comes with newborn babies.
It’s been three months and I was still extremely obsessed with the smell.
As I inched into the house, I poked my head through the open door of the sitting room and my heart instantly squeezed in my chest at the sight that greeted me.
Sofia was sitting in a sea of blankets and plushies, with the baby girl in her arms, a bottle held against her lips which she was feeding from, while the baby boy was fast asleep on the spot beside her. She was singing softly and slightly rocking the baby as she drank her milk, it was a sight I’ve been blessed to witness since the moment the babies were brought into this world, it’s a scene I’d never tire of seeing.
They all looked so soft and cozy right there that I couldn’t resist taking a couple of pictures. The sounds of the camera shutters going off was what finally alerted Sofia of my presence. She rolled her eyes on realizing that I was taking pictures of her and a smile graced my face as I discarded my phone on a couch and drew towards her.
“Hi bunny.” I whispered softly in order not to disturb the babies. She grinned up at me, eyes twinkling as she eyes the things in my hands.
“Are those for me?” She mused and I hummed while nodding my head at her, eyes mirroring the gleam in her eyes.
“Happy three months.” I whispered as I crouched beside her and dropped a kiss on her smiling lips as I handed her the flowers, carefully settling the rest of the things behind her.
“It really is three months, I can’t believe this much time has passed.” She whispered in awe, watching as I carefully retrieved the baby from her arms.
“In no time, it’s gonna be a year since we had them.” I murmured as I adjusted the baby in my arms. I’ve had more than enough practice with babies that I can now carry them without the fear of dropping them.
“I can’t wait cause they’re a real handful.” Sofia mumbled, voice muffled in the flower she was sniffing and I snickered at the cute sight.
Moments later, the wiggling baby pulled my attention back to her and when I glanced at her, her doe eyes that looked so much like her mother blinked up at me.
“Hello Aria, did you miss daddy?” I whispered on a coo and a cute giggle tumbled out of her, making me laugh through the burst of happiness running through my veins.
“Looks like you did, daddy missed you so much as well.” I murmured while carefully swinging her around the way she liked. Gabbled sounds spilled past her lips as her little hands tried to reach for my face.
“She was dozing off before you arrived! Why is she wide awake now?” Sofia demanded and I snickered.
“You know how she’s always excited to see her favorite daddy? Well, tonight isn’t an exception.”
“You’re her only daddy.” Sofia reminded me with an eye roll. “Andre fell asleep as soon as he was done eating, like he always does, meanwhile Aria is a completely different case.” Sofia grumbled as she reached for the wrapped gift behind her.
“A different case that’s totally obsessed with her daddy, I don’t see a problem here.” I responded, watching as Sofia got the gift open, right before her mouth dropped open, eyes bulging from shock.
Her wide eyes panned towards me and I held a finger against my lips. “Don’t scream, you’re gonna wake Andre up.” I reminded her before the scream could come out. She swallowed slowly and glanced down at the gift, then she screamed into her hands while I chuckled fondly, having already foresaw this exact reaction.
“You’re the best ever. I love you so muchhhhh!” She sighed softly and I carded my fingers through her hair for a few seconds.
“I love you so much more. So fucking much.”
A frown settled on her face as she narrowed her eyes at me.
“Don’t swear around the baby!”
