Luca’s pov
“Stop the fucking car.” I growled out as soon as I instantly sat up straighter. My eyes were still wide as I scanned my gaze over the texts staring back at me. It showed at the lower side of the texts that they had come in about twenty minutes ago.
“Fuck.” I cursed as I proceeded to dail Sofia’s number. It went straight into voicemail, prompting me into cursing again as I pushed the door of the car open and stepped out of it. It hasn’t even occurred to me to cheek my phone while I had been talking with a few men from the mafia. The phone has been silenced which was why I hadn’t gotten any notification when she had been spamming me those messages. As I glanced through the messages once again, worry clogged up a part of my brain as I tried to figure out what could have gone wrong.
Ryan & Ethan were also unreachable, which prooved that something had definitely gone wrong with them, something really bad.
I dailed James’ number next; hands pulling on my hair as I waited for him to pick. A crackle came through the phone as soon as it got answered,
“Missing me so soon? It’s only been about an hour since we parted ways.” He snickered, but grew serious at once on realizing that this wasn’t a time for joke.
“She’s kidnapped?” He asked and I stepped back into the car, motioning on the driver to start the car once again.
“She has to be. Something terrible has definitely happened, that’s very certain.” I responded, exhaling harshly through my lungs.
“If you knew where she went to this afternoon, that would be a good start in tracing her.” James continued and I sighed dejectedly. “I don’t, last I knew was that she was at home.”
“I’m coming over, we’re gonna find her, hm? It can’t be that hard.” James continued but I remained silent, mind drifting back to those texts which had been filled with so much panic, it had felt like I could feel them with my hands.
“See you in a few.” He continued before ending the call and I shoved it into my pocket, trying to rake my brain for anyone recent enemies of mine who could be dumb enough to come after my wife like this.
The thought of Sofia being kidnapped for something she had no hand in only made my blood boil even more. She wasn’t cut out for this life in any way, and if those stupid fuckers lay a single finger on her, they were all gonna regret being born.

“We’re gonna find her man.” Was the first thing James said on stepping into the house. It was obvious he hadn’t even gotten home before turning around and coming over. I wanted to tell him I believed him, but the lump in my throat prevented a word from slipping out.
“Okay, let’s get to work everyone.” James called out and the men he had put a call to all gathered around.
“She dressed up in something casual looking before leaving. I think she was going to meet up with her friend, Kayla, but I’m not a hundred percent sure.” Matilda provide those information on getting interrogated, while clarifying that Sofia never returned after that.
Reaching Kayla wasn’t hard. However, listening to her break down in tears over the phone at the news of Sofia being kidnapped, felt too much for me to listen to. It didn’t take long for her and her husband to arrive. She looked like a shadow of her former self and it was like her husband’s hands around her was the only thing keeping her standing.
A few men arrived home in a few hours with a broken phone which belonged to Sofia, along with a crumbled handkerchief. The phone was able to be retrieved with the help of the phone getting traced. They had found the phone at the side of a street, it was obvious that the phone had been broken on purpose in order to make it unreachable.
As I cradled the phone in my palm, I knew that the person who had done this particular job, isn’t a professional, because no professional would break a phone and then leave it be, knowing damn well that it would definitely get traced.
“Unless perhaps, the phone got dumped in that spot on purpose in order to lead us to a dead end…” James murmured, hands on his jaw and face scrunched in concentration.
“You know what? You’re right. It could be that they also want to lead us to a dead end with this phone.” Another man offered and I let out a long sigh, sinking into a couch and feeling extremely stuck.
“What about this piece of fabric, boss? It belongs to your wife, right?” A voice called, holding the crumbled handkerchief out. I retrieved it and shook my hand after one sniff, because it smelled nothing like Sofia.
“What do we do next? The CCTV got no trace of the car when it drove past, which proved that the person behind this entire plan is definitely a professional.” James murmured in displeasure. I dragged my fingers through my hair and began to pace. Armani wasn’t home yet, but once he does and heard the news of Sofia being kidnapped, he was undoubtedly gonna lose his mind.
“Those fuckers behind this have definitely been planning this for a while.” I exhaled sharply and cursed under my breath once again.
“I guess the next step to take is to take the big guns out.” James murmured in a sigh and I dragged my hand over my face for the hundredth time. This was something I swore I’d never get myself involved in.
“Unfortunately.” I responded quietly. I’ve sent out men to go pick out any train they can find, anything that could help us out a little.
“Whoa, did you see this, boss?”
One of the men was holding up that handkerchief out. I waved him off and was about to turn away when something on it caught my eye.
“Is that…”
James grinned as he retrieved the fabric and held it underneath the light, and the printed image in the middle of the fabric showed starkly.
“Oooou, Luca, I’d say we already have our first lead.” James declared.
