Luca’s pov
“So, you had better respond to my question at once if you don’t want to dig a bigger grave for yourself.” I growled in a low voice while my hand itches to wrap around his throat and squeeze until he stopped breathing.
He didn’t look a day over twenty five, and if I haven’t encountered a lot of stupid men in life, I’d say I’m shocked by the stupidity the dude and his friends were in to even consider laying a finger on Sofia. But, I’m not shocked, although it’s a little shocking that someone has the mind to actually do this.
Everyone in the mafia who knew Sofia was married to me, knew that she was automatically off limits to everyone no matter what.
The dude kneeling a few inches from Sofia and I dropped his head to the ground and began to spit out so many apologies at once, making me give a shake of my head before reaching forward to nudge his forehead with the tip of my shoe, causing him to flinch away like I had pointed a gun at him.
“Are you going to do the needful or do you need to be made into doing it?” I demanded, watching as the dude hastily shook his head while tears streamed down his face.
“I said… I said some bad, dumb things to her, sir.” He began and I cocked my head sideways.
“That’s clearly obvious. I need you to go into details. Since you felt pretty okay saying it while your friends laughed, nothing should stop you from repeating it to me. Who knows? Perhaps, I’d find it funny as well.”
The dude hastily shook his head. “Y- you wouldn’t find it funny, sir. The words are… are really bad.”
“I’d be the judge of that.” I responded easily even though everything in me wanted to claw the dumb guy’s heart out.
After receiving a call from one of Sofia’s bodyguards while I had been in a meeting, I had hastily accepted it because I knew they never called except it was important. As soon as I realized why I was called, I felt so much anger simmering inside of me at once, which only intensified on hearing Sofia’s shaky and cracked voice on the phone while she did her best to attempt reassuring me that she was fine, which I didn’t buy one bit.
And as soon as I settled my gaze on her face before even alighting from the car, I vowed to take care of the people who thought it wise to touch what was mine, even for a fleeting second.
“I told her that she l- looked sexy, and then I…” He flattered and took a step backwards while still on his knees, but a look from me made him take one forward almost immediately.
“Go on.” I encouraged and he looked like he might faint as he hastily shook his head.
When I removed my hand from Sofia’s shoulder and took a step towards him to crouch before him, grasping his throat in a light grip, he sputtered the rest of his sentence at once while blabbering off a bunch of apology as well.
I tsked and shook my head before speaking. “I didn’t find that funny. It wasn’t amusing in any way. Why did your dumb friends find it funny?” I inquired while throwing a look at his remaining two friends who were shaking like leaves.
“I thought they were four?” I asked Ethan this time, who explained that one managed to get away.
“You’re going to get me your fourth friend yourself, hm?” The dude was already eagerly nodding before I spoke and I snorted before continuing.
“Meanwhile, this ought to remind you to not touch women like they’re decorations for your amusement, hm?” I murmured as I reached for his right hand and snapped it in the blink of an eye, enjoying the loud crackling of his bones and his echoing howl of pain.
“Take them all away for now.” I said after cleaning my hand on the writhing dude’s shirt before getting to my feet. When I focused on Sofia once again, her eyes seemed a little bit unfocused and she had her arms wrapped around her middle.
The protectiveness in me reared its head in me at once and I considered dealing with those guys some more now or putting it aside until later so that i can be able to give Sofia my utmost attention right now, cause it seems so much like she needed it.
I ended up doing the latter, whisking her into my arms and heading into the house at once. She began to tremble even before I made my way into the house and I cursed beneath my breath as I headed straight upstairs, refusing Matilda from coming closer with a single look because she had been about to as soon as she sighted us while we walked past the kitchen.
On getting into our bedroom, I settled her on the edge of the bed and knelt on the ground between her face while framing her face in my hands. She blinked twice and that was when I noticed the tears swimming in them.
“I’m so sorry I wasn’t there to protect you myself.” I whispered while brushing a kiss against her forehead.
That opened the dam, because she broke down after that, falling into my arms and sobbing so hard that her entire body shook and as I kissed each teardrop off her cheeks and kept comforting her softly, I promised to make everyone pay for this, down to the mall she had been shopping in… including her bodyguards.
They were all going to pay.
I cradled her in my arms and kept comforting her until her sobs tapered off till only cute little sniffles remained. She snuggled into my body, pressing her face into my throat which had gotten completely wet with her tears, which i didn’t give two fucks about.
All I cared about was for her to stop crying.
Although, what she said after long minutes of sobbing, threw me completely off guard.
“Do… Do you think it was my fault? For wearing shorts this small?”
