Luca’s pov
“Did you ever stop for a moment to consider the consequences of going against me?”
My hand was wrapped around a glass of champagne which I wasn’t going to be tasting as I asked the question of the other two men in the list of my underbosses, who had decided to go against me, along with Mr. Romeo, whom I had thoroughly dealt with.
“What are you talking about, sir?” The first one asked with a chuckle that was so dry and fake, it grated on my nerves.
“Are you really asking me that?” I demanded in a calm voice while looking between both men. They were clearly starting to get scared, having already figured out that I already know what’s actually going on.
Wnen neither of them responded, I shook my head a little and barked out a laugh that startled them so far, one of them managed to spill their drink.
“I’d like the both of you to be aware of the fact that my time is too precious for me to waste it unnecessarily on you guys right now.” I murmured with a slight tilt of my head. Neither of them said anything, but chose to glance around the room for a few minutes, where guards were gathered around, patiently waiting for orders.
“Is none of you seriously not going to start talking yet?” I spoke up once again while glancing from side to side. Both men exchanged glances while shifting their weights around.
“Are you curious about what happened to your accomplice, Romeo? Hm?” I paused and looked at both men, noticing the fear on their faces more starkly now.
“I won’t tell you many details, but I’d let you know that he’s very much happy and is being taken care of properly as we speak.”
That made them jolt a little, and then they lean forward, attempting to drop their glasses.
“Nope, don’t drop that. You should drink up at once.” I murmured with a dark grin on, and then I tilted my glass towards them.
“Cheers… to happiness.”
Both of them were unmoving, and I waited for a few seconds to pass before sitting up, which had them scrambling around, hands trembling around their glasses.
“Why are none of you drinking? Are you going against my word right now?”
A shake of their heads was all I got, and then they both threw their drinks backwards.
There wasn’t anything in the drink, I suppose, since they had poured it for themselves and myself when I arrived here, moments ago.
“Good.” I murmured, nodding in approval.
“Sir… we can talk about this, we can explain…” They stuttered out at once and I rolled my eyes a little before reaching out to drop my filled up glass on the table between us.
“There’s no need for that anymore, don’t you think so?” I murmured with my head tilted sideways.
“The deed has been done. You’ve sold the mafia out, without second thoughts. And now, you both want to talk it out with me?” I continued, enjoying the look of fright on their faces.
“Before I leave right now, I wanna let both of you know that I’m fully aware of all the money you have been taking out of the Mafia’s account. I’m aware of all what you’ve been up to, down to the other people you’ve formed alliances with.”
Once I was done speaking, I got to my feet, both men fell to their knees, pleas falling past their lips at the same time as I walked around until I was standing in front of them.
“All your plans have automatically been put to an end today, right here and right now. I was a fool to not have seen through your fakeness for a long while… but, never late than never, right?”
I barked out another laugh and turned around, making my way out of the office, while ignoring their pleas. As I got to the entrance of the office, I nodded my head at my guards, automatically signaling for them to capture the two men.
As I exited the office, I whipped out my phone and dailed James’ number. He picked up on the third ring, just as I was making my way into my car.
“Where are you?”

After a very much needed meeting with the rest of the underbosses, I decided that I wasn’t going to be making more people the underbosses so they’d take the three empty slots of Romen and the two other people whom I had captured today. Those three jobs got distributed through the rest of the underbosses remaining, because there’d need to be a lot of thorough screening before anyone can become an underboss.
Once the meeting was over, I was in the office with James, in this particular club which actually belonged to James. He has a long string of hotels and clubs like I do.
“Did you say she’s royalty?” I asked in surprise, listening as James continued to explain to me who his girl actually is.
It was such a huge surprise and plot twist that his girl turned out to be the princess who had supposedly died a couple of years ago.
“We aren’t on good terms with the royals.” I mused once he was done speaking, watching as he exhaled deeply before nodding his head.
“We most definitely aren’t, but the person who caused a huge problem for our mafia is her father, who’s now late. You can’t fault her for her fathers’ crimes, you just can’t.” James continued and as he spoke, I didn’t need to stare at him a moment longer to figure out that he had actually fallen deeper and deeper for this particular girl than he was letting on.
I grunted a little before starting to speak. “I was always faulted for my father’s offenses, throughout my entire life, like you were too. You know that’s how these things work.” As I spoke, James’ face was blank as he stared at me silently.
After a few seconds, I rolled my eyes and I sat up. “But, I guess she’s different.
