Sofia’s pov
I knew I shouldn’t be surprised, or hurt, but like Luca had said on the way here, it wasn’t something that could really be helped.
It wasn’t an emotion that I could actually control.
“Yes, that’s the only reason why I did.” Mother responded calmly and I found myself scoffing in disbelief.
“Well, that should have been your job in the first place. You are the one who’s supposed to be keeping your children sane.” I pointed out and watched as she plsved her hands on her hips, her lips getting into a thin line.
“Don’t speak to me rudely, Sofia.” She warned but for some reasons, that didn’t seem to faze me one bit.
“I’m not speaking to you rudely, I’m only saying what I believe every mother should know.” I pointed out and next, her eyes trailed over my entire body, eyes filled with so much judgement, it made my skin crawl, and what made it worse was that I’m an exact copy of her.
“I don’t see you with a child yet, how then, would you know what it is to be a mother?” She asked after a minute and my mouth fell open in disbelief this time that I felt myself taking a step backwards.
“I technically brought Angelo up,” I reminded her and she nodded her head slowly.
“Yes, you did, and bless your soul for that. But, that still doesn’t make you a mother.”
Feeling frustrated, I let out a groan. ” I never said that in the first place. Don’t you get what I mean?”
“I’m afraid not.” She responded and I groaned once again, just as the door at the far end of the hallways opened to reveal Angelo who walked towards Mother and I to grasp my wrist, tugging me along with him instantly.
“Sorry, I’m borrowing her for now.” He called out before closing the door.
Once he was done speaking, I buried my face in his shoulders, hugging him tight.
“Don’t pay mother too much heed. That’s only how you can remain sane.” He adviced and I let out a long exhale as I glanced around his room which had been completely transformed from what I remembered it looking like.
“How do you even survive living here?” I asked as I sat on his bed, watching as Angelo shrugged, picking up his gaming console.
“You learn to tune them out. And besides, mother never pays me any heed, except father but now, he doesn’t stay on my dick like he once used to.” He explained and I winced a little at the crudeness of his words.
Angelo and I talked for a little while, then I announced wanting to go see my childhood bedroom, and he instantly offered to come with me.
It was still the same way I remembered it being, down to the position of all my books which Father had prevented me from taking along with me. I hastily began to pack those books, deciding that I’d be taking them with me this time.
“Do you know that I was obsessed with this bedroom after you left?” Angelo asked and I shook my head instantly, feeling genuinely shocked because he never mentioned it.
“After you left, I was very heartbroken. I was unable to sleep, so I came in here every night and stayed in here, breathing your scent in and crying into your pillows. The fact that the door was always locked didn’t stop me because I could pick locks just fine.” He explained and my mouth fell open in shock.
“Oh.” I whispered.
“When father found out, he was very furious, that had been one of the reasons as to why he took me to the boxing rings. But like you’ve seen, this room isn’t locked any longer because it never stopped me from coming in here if I wanted to, although I don’t do that any longer for a really long while because the memories of this bedroom were haunting as well as comforting, you know?” He explained and as he spoke, I felt my eyes moisten up.
“I’m so sorry.” I whispered, not knowing what else to say. Angelo’s face was blank but a grin still managed to stretch out on his face as he spoke.
“You’re always sorry, Sofia. Even for things you have no control over. I’m afraid the world itself do not deserve to have your presence in it.”

When Angelo and I went downstairs, I went to Luca’s side just as he rose to his feet, prompting mother and father to do the same.
Luca’s hands slid around my waist, tugging me close to him and I felt my face flame up a little because I could feel my parents’ eyes on me, as well as my brother’s.
“You okay, bunny?” Luca asked, voice soft and concerned, and I nodded my head a couple of times.
“Yeah, I am. Are we leaving now?” I asked and Luca shook his head.
“No, I have a little thing to take care of first.”
“Oh? What’s that?” I found myself asking, and I watched as Luca’s face darkened right before he responded.
“I just need you to list the names of the two bodyguards who assulted you while growing up. I’d like to have a little word with them.” He responded and my mouth fell open in shock while my blood ran cold.

Luca’s pov
This has been the actual reason as to why I had agreed to Sofia coming here in the first place.
Sofia had thought I had long forgotten about this, but I haven’t, and today, my actual reason for coming here is to teach those sick bastards a little lesson.
Sofia refused to mention the guards’ names at first for fear of what I’d do to them, but she ended up doing just that, and I ordered for them to be summoned.
Firstly, I made them confess to what they had done to her, and the look alone on my face had been enough to remind them to not lie to my face.
Despite how I knew this might be embarrassing to Sofia, I knew damn well that it needed to be done. A lot of women get assaulted in silence, it’s high time bastards like these two men know that it comes with actual consequences.
I shot them both in their hands, depending on how many times it was that they did the said deed to her.
Fucking sickos.
“Why couldn’t you protect your child well? You knew she was mine from the onset, did you not? Why did you let those bastards do that to her?” I demanded in a low voice from Sofia’s father, hand gripping the collar of his shirt.
“I- I…” He spluttered, face red and shoulders heaving as he proceeded to spill a bunch of incoherent excuses which made me only want to punch him in the face.
As we left, all eyes were on us and I held Sofia’s waist firmly, holding the car door open and helping her into it, needing every single one of them to be sure that I indeed do not joke when it comes to my wife.
