Luca’s POV
I finally turned around and started to make my way towards the house, my suit jacket was unbuttoned and I couldn’t wait to take it off at this point, I felt like taking a long ass shower as well, at this very moment. As expected, Ethan and Ryan were standing outside the door which led into the main house, and they both bowed their heads instantly, as soon as I had started to climb the small amount of stairs which would lead me up to the place they were currently standing on.
“Ryan. Ethan.” I murmured before pausing a few feet before them, and then I started to speak. “Did you notice anything strange around the house?” I asked and both men started to shake their heads negatively at the same time.
“Good. But keep an eye out for anything, alright?”
As soon as both men had acknowledged what I had said moments ago, I decided to continue instantly.
“Don’t overlook anything, alright? If you notice anything sketchy or suspicious, go check it out instantly and confirm that it’s indeed safe and harmless, are we clear?”
“Yes boss.” They both replied at the same time and I gave a sharp nod of my head. Someone who wasn’t used to addressing more than one person at a time, might find the way they do stuff in sync spooky. But not me, because it was pretty normal to me at this point.
I mean, I’ve addressed guards in the tens and twenties at a time and this is how they act most times, doing a lot of things in sync that it doesn’t even spook me one bit.
“Alright then, you may leave now.” I concluded, dismissing them as well and they vowed their heads at the same time like I knew they were going to, and Ethan reached behind him to push the door open for me.
I stepped into the house and through the opened door and pushed it close instantly, before turning the lock in the door until the door got locked. And then I turned around and started to make my way deeper into the house, walking straight into the hallways and pausing at a particular spot to take off my shoes and socks, and once I was done, I moved them to the side of the wall, before continuing to make my way deeper into the house.
I shook my head a little to get some thoughts which I’d rather not think about, completely out of my head, as I paused at the entrance or the sitting room, and then I stared inside it.
Sofia was inside of it, the television was turned on as well, but the whole scene was quite different from how it was yesterday. The thing playing out on the tell you screen, was like a movie thing, it wasn’t a music video like the one that had been playing out yesterday. She was also sitting down in a different couch than the one she had been sitting in yesterday, and I had a feeling she chooses that particular one which was a two seater compared to yesterday’s three seater, because she probably didn’t want me to come sit beside her I had done yesterday, and she probably choose that particular spot because it wasn’t facing the television directly, but was facing a way that someone sitting on there can easily see what’s happening in the entrance of the sitting room, or who’s trying to make their way into the sitting room.
She probably didn’t see me standing in the doorway because she was currently tapping away on her phone, with her legs spread on the couch, and once again, her skirt was riding up on her thighs.
What’s with her and these damn short skirts that’s trying to make me lose my damn mind?
She grinned down at her phone and I watched as she started to chuckle quietly, and I felt a bitter taste start to form at the lower side of my throat.
Was she texting someone? Someone she met on Facebook or Instagram?
I knew it was jealousy that I was feeling at this very moment, and the fact that she texts other people except me was making my blood start to heat up in a really unpleasant way.
But then, does she even have my contact to begin with?
I started to make my way into the sitting room after that particular moment and she jolted in her seat as her head lifted up to stare in the direction where the tiny noise of feet on the floor had come from, and I watched as her body stiffened almost instantly. I could read people well, it was one of the things I could do perfectly, and I know that what was currently in her eyes, and pouring off her body, was not in anyway related to fear.
And so I closed the distance between us and paused against the edge of the couch she was currently sitting on.
“Hello Sofia,” I breathed out almost immediately and I watched in amusement as she dragged her eyes away from mine instantly, before finally replying to me in a low voice.
“Hii,”
“Mind if I sit beside you?” I asked even though I was fully aware that there were a lot of other empty couches around here, and I watched as she gave a couple of nods of her head, right before she shifted in her seat and finally started to pull her legs away from the spot beside her on the couch, and I watched as her skirt rode up even more in that process.
She pulled her ridden up skirt downwards with an embarrassed look as soon as she realized it, and I sank into the spot beside her instantly, taking off my jacket and placing it on the top of my thighs.
“How was your day?” I started to ask after we’ve been sitting down for about two minutes. I was somehow satisfied that she hadn’t continued to do what it was that she had been doing on her phone right before I had mace my appearance known, and I had a strong feeling that she had been texting someone before.
“It went well, I guess?” She replied after a moment and I turned my head around to stare at her. Her head was currently bent downwards and she was currently staring down at her thighs.
“You guess? Did something happen?” I asked instantly, the sudden urge to make things right had taken up my whole insides almost immediately, gripping at my chest in a really tight hold.
“Not really, nothing actually happened. It’s probably nothing.” She replied slowly after a few more moments and her reply alone was enough to trigger ever senses in my whole body.
“Did something happen? You can go ahead and tell me,” I tried again, watching her intently and trying to figure out what it could be that had indeed happened and coming up with completely nothing.
“Nothing happened,” She replied again and I felt a small sigh slip past my lips.
“Sofia…” I said in a low voice and I watched as her head snapped up instantly, and then I continued instantly.
“Tell me what it was that happened.”
“It’s Sarah.” She whispered, her hands wrinkling and twisting against themselves on her thighs. I reached downwards and placed my index finger between her two hands, stopping it from twisting against themselves, because I had noticed that it was an habit of hers which she does unconsciously a lot of times.
What I didn’t expect her to do, was for her right hand to close around my index finger, trapping it between her hand in a really snug hold.
I blinked once, staring at the side of her face to check of she even realized what it was that she had done, but there was no proof that she was aware of what she had done.
“What happened to Sarah?” I asked calmly and continued almost immediately, “Did the both of you get into a fight with each other?”
She started to shake her head instantly, “No, not that.”
“What happened then?”
“I think, I think she’s seriously sick.” Sofia ended up finally whispering out in a low voice and I felt my heart drop into my stomach, because I was also sure that she was sick as well, even though I still haven’t gotten a chance to ask her what it was that was actually wrong with her.
“Oh.” I ended up saying instead and I watched as Sofia nodded her head once, and it felt like I heard her sniff.
Why was she sniffing? Was she about to start crying?
“She’s going to be alright, ok? Nothing’s going to happen to her, I’ll make sure of it.” I started to say instantly, trying my best to comfort her at that very moment, because it felt like she really needed it at this moment.
But then I heard her sniff a little once again before she started to shake her head.
“I don’t think so.” She whispered out in an even lower voice.
“Why?”
“I– I think she has cancer.” She whispered, and I felt a teardrop land on my hand, which was still on her thigh.
