Alexander’s POV
“Snow?” Emily squealed out in disbelief. “It is snowing!”
“It’s not just any snow,” I said, looking at her face with a grin. “Close your eyes and focus on the snowflakes.”
Emily hesitated with a wary smile, yet she obeyed and closed her eyes.
Her eyebrows knitted together as she concentrated, and then her eyes flew open and her lips parted.
“Unbelievable!” She whispered in awe, her blue eyes full of wonder. “I can hear them. They are humming a melody of some sort. H-h-how, how are you doing that?” She stuttered in disbelief, her blue eyes growing wider.
“Something I read in a book in my father’s library,” I said proudly.
I have spent some time looking through the old manuscript in the library, and I got stuck on a book on how to unlock and use my abilities. Some techniques were quite easy to learn and achieve, but others were a bit more complicated and needed proper focus.
As the saying goes, practice makes perfect, and something this small yet so beautiful took a lot of practice and concentration, but it was worth the effort.
“It took me a few days to be able to get this going.” I continued, catching a snowflake between my index finger and thumb. “But it seems to work better when you are around.”
I guess my abilities depended on my emotional state-the happier, the easier.
“This is still unbelievable,” she said, holding her hands out and catching a few snowflakes in them, her face in pure bliss as she looked at them.
I swept my hand above hers, and the snowflakes immediately started moving in a circle, giving the illusion that they were alive and dancing.
I internally signed.
I was hoping Emily would be able to see and hear what I could-every little detail and perfection of each snowflake.
I smiled watching them lift in the air, each with their own color, sound, and shape. I guess each one might even taste differently as well. One day I will be able to show her how big my little perfect world is, but until then, I will have to manage to perfect this ability.
I would love to see how she reacts when she sees the colors they reflect.
“Would you like to dance?” I asked, my body already finding the rhythm of the sounds of the snowflakes.
“Here?” She asked in disbelief.
“Yes,” I said, looking around. “It’s perfect, romantic, and no one will disturb us.”
“But…”
“We can sway to the snowflake melody,” I said, taking her hands and pulling her to my chest.
A beautiful giggle erupted from Emily’s lips, my heart leaping out of my chest at the beautiful, pure sound.
“Mate sounds happy,” Ghost mused from the back of my mind. “I love it when she is carefree and happy!”
“Me too, buddy,” I said. “Me too…”
I slowly started to sway from side to side, allowing the snow to circle us and create a white curtain around us.
“This is amazing,” Emily muttered, lifting her gaze to search mine.
“I am happy you like it,” I said.
“I don’t like it,” she said. “I love it. I have never experienced anything so amazing.”
“There is more to come, my love,” I said, gently pushing her away from me and letting her do an underarm turn.
“I hope so,” Emily gently said, and she laid her head on my chest.
Her closeness warmed my ice-cold heart, and for the first time in days, I felt warm and fuzzy inside.
The snowflakes became less and less as the melody came to an end, and Emily snaked her arms around me.
“I don’t want to let go,” she whispered sadly, lifting her gaze to find mine.
Her words stirred something inside me, and a tender smile followed on my lips.
I closed the space between us and pecked her on the lips.
When we broke away, Emily seemed to be disappointed and pouted.
“Kiss her properly, your moron!” Ghost hissed from the back of my mind. “She wants some proper and deep smooching!”
I dropped my head again, taking her lips hostage.
Emily’s breathing hitch and her sweet arousal hit my nose.
Ghost was going berserk inside my mind, begging me to have him released.
My hands carefully cupped Emily’s face, enjoying her sweet assault on my lips.
Footsteps close by startled me. I pulled away, and my gaze snapped toward the sound.
Emily looked bewildered, noticing my posture stiffening.
“What’s wrong?” She whispered, concerned.
“I heard someone coming,” I said, grabbing Emily’s hand and pulling her deeper into the garden.
Emily’s gaze met mine, and a nervous giggle escaped her lips.
I pulled her closer to my chest, placed my hand over her mouth, and gestured to her to keep quiet.
Emily rolled her eyes and licked my hand, which surprised me beyond belief.
I was taken aback by the gesture and quickly withdrew my hand from her mouth, glaring at her.
“Bold move!” Ghost laughed, rolling around in my mind, thinking it was funny.
“Seriously!” I lip yelled at her.
Emily chuckled humorously in silence next to me, frozen in her spot, when sudden footsteps sounded close by.
I gestured to Emily not to make a sound, and she nodded.
“Hide your scent,” she linked, startling me.
I nodded, and a teasing smile tickled the side of my lips.
Willow taught Ghost the little trick of how to hide our scent, and it came in handy the last few days with Angelica around.
The footsteps came rushing past us, and we both dove deeper into the bush.
“Sh*t!” Luke swore over the link.
“What?” I mind-link.
“Angelica is heading to the door,” he said. “She looks like a p*ssed-off she-wolf on a mission.”
Abruptly, the exterior door flew open, and Angelica bolted out onto the pathway, her expression frozen in sheer frustration.
“Where’s she going?” Emily asked, her eyes on the spot where Angelica vanished.
“Not sure,” I replied. “Maybe she is looking for me.”
Emily knitted her eyebrows together, and her eyes darkened. She didn’t like that idea.
“Let’s follow her,” Emily suggested.
“No….”
“Suit yourself,” Emily said, letting go of my hand. “But I am curious to know why she is going that way.”
“Why?” I asked.
“Because the path goes toward the forest,” she said. “And I think she is meeting someone there.”
I weighed my options, nodded, and we both started following behind Angelica.
However, I never imagined that by tailing Angelica, we would reveal so many secrets.
