Emily’s POV
I have told him.
I opened my heart and was honest with him.
And it felt so good. Bloody good!
A giggle erupted from deep inside me, making my whole body shake out of excitement. Happiness bubbles from the deepest pit inside me-who would have thought that talking would cure our frustration?
“It feels good, doesn’t it?” Willow asked.
“It does!” I answered truthfully. “I should have done it a long time ago!”
“I am happy you did,” Willow replied, lying lazily on her back. She was happy and relaxed too, but most of all, she met Ghost last night.
“He is so,” Willow mused dreamily.
“He is,” I said, remembering how the two ran up the highest hill, chasing one another. It was the happiest I ever saw Willow in my life.
“Did you hear him tell me how beautiful I am?” Willow asked and sighed.
“I did,” I chuckled.
I let Willow take control after our talk, surprising Alex.
I didn’t shift like any other wolf; my shift was a bit different and more terrifying.
“Wow!” Luke gasped, seeing the flames surrounding me. The red flames’ shadows played on their faces.
“Are you seeing that?” Alex gasped in disbelief.
“I have never seen anything like that!” Luke muttered.
I enjoyed the attention and chuckled amused. I kept to myself when I lived at the White Moon Pack, shifting alone in secluded areas to my true form.
Usually, Willow would shift into a silver wolf-the same color I imagined having when I was younger-blending in with the rest of the pack.
Only those close to me had the privilege of seeing Willow in her true form, and at most there were a handful of people.
I gave Willow the option to decide which wolf she was comfortable showing Alex and Ghost, and she decided on our true form.
That made me smile. Willow was one of the most beautiful wolves I have ever seen. She had a rich auburn coat, covered with golden flames dancing around her fur.
“You sure have guts,” Alex whispered in awe. His gray eyes were huge in disbelief.
Seconds later, Ghost took charge and shifted, but he too decided to reveal his true self.
I gasped, surprised, when snowflakes appeared and an ice-cold wind blew around me.
Something like a snowstorm appeared around Alex.
“Ghost is making a show,” Willow purred. She enjoyed the show.
“I can see that,” I said, seeing a snowflake fall and melt on my nose.
When the storm cleared, Ghost stood in beautiful white fur.
“How?” I gasped. He had black fur the last time I saw him.
“Our magic merged with his,” Willow answered. “We released all of his magic, making him stronger and faster. The possibilities are….”
Did Alex forget to tell me what had happened to him? Or was he keeping a secret from me?
Ghost threw his head back and howled at the moon, forcing the worried thoughts out of my head.
Willow answered his call, bringing our own praise to the goddess.
I sighed, smiling.
All the tension between me and Alex over the last few days was gone, and now I only had one thing that stood in my way of being with Alex and claiming my position as Luna.
I leaped out of bed and flew into the bathroom.
I needed to get ready for today’s activities, but before I could go down to the main arena and put Angelica on her ass, I needed to take a decent warm bath.
I opened the shower tap, waited for the water to turn warm, and looked at myself in the mirror.
My skin was glowing, my eyes a gentle, soft, clear blue, my lips still swollen, and I could smell Alex’s intoxicating scent on me.
I didn’t want to lose the scent, as it made me proud to be with him, but I had no other choice.
I sighed.
“Why, after all we have been through, do I need to fight for my mate?” I mumbled as I got into the shower.
The piping hot water rolled over my shoulders, and it reminded me of Alex leaving hot kisses there earlier.
My thoughts quickly returned to the moments just before I got out of bed. Alex came rushing in, got dressed, and told me he had to leave.
“Why the sudden rush?” I asked, startled.
“Unexpected visitor,” he sneered as he pulled on his pants. The look Alex gave me made it sound like an unwanted guest.
“Visitor?” I asked, knitting my eyebrows in confusion.
Who would arrive at this time in the morning? It was barely 5 a. m.
“Is it Angelica? Did she arrive earlier?” I asked, feeling my insides twist into a knot.
Alex dropped what he was doing and gave me a quick glance.
He must have noticed the concern in my gaze because he sat down beside me and held my hands.
“I told you I would be honest,” Alex uttered. “My visitor is a thorn in my side and is mostly an inconvenience. Angelica is far worse.”
“Then who is he?” I asked.
With a sigh, Alex glanced at our hands.
“Axel,” he said, peeping out from under his eyelashes. It was not hard to pick up on the bitterness in his voice.
“What made him come?” I inquired.
“I am uncertain,” he uttered. “That is why I have to go and find out.”
“Okay,” I said. “I-I understand. Go. Go get dressed and find out.”
“You are the best,” he said, planted a kiss on my forehead, and stood up.
While he finished getting dressed, I reclined in bed and observed him pulling a plain black v-neck shirt over his amazing chest and massive biceps.
I unconsciously licked my lips as I stared at him with open admiration.
“I can smell your arousal.” Ghost’s deep and husky voice rang in my ears. He got closer and bent down.
“Sorry,” I whispered, feeling my face flush.
“Don’t be,” he said, brushing his hand over my hair and pecking my lips.
Alex’s eyes quickly went back to being gray.
“I’ll see you later,” he said. “And we can finish what we started.”
“Oh, really?” I inquired, observing the tiny devils twirling in Alex’s eyes. “Is that a promise?”
“It is a guarantee,” he declared. “I would like to hear you yell my name for a little while longer.”
My face flushed, and when Alex got to the bedroom door, he winked back at me. “But first, I have to handle this inconvenience.”
I nodded.
“See you soon,” I called behind him.
I listened as the front door opened, knowing that Alex was about to leave.
“I’ll send Luke to come to you,” he called down the hall before he left, closing the door.
With a sigh, I shut off the shower, picked up my towel, wrapped it around myself, and got out of the shower.
My usual morning routine went quickly, and I changed into a white shirt and blue jeans.
While concentrating on blow-drying my hair, I heard the front door open.
Luke.
I finished up and headed to meet him.
Where he took me next was a highlight of my stay.
