“The mission has changed,” Richard said go the phone after the call went through.
“Yeah. I have the General. There are other prisoners here and they are making super soldiers. So, we have to kill those, the General and I can do that before you get here, and make sure no one leaves,” Richard said and listened again.
“Okay. Can you get the coordinates of where we are from the phone?” He listens and again as he nodded subtly.
“Good. See you. We will be waiting for you,” he finished and hand up.
“How many hours?” The general asked.
“Two hours. They are taking the men in Brazil,”. richard answered as he returned the phone to his inner suit and took out two pills.
“Take these. They will help with the withdrawal and keep you alert,” he told the General and the other man took them without question.
Richard then took out a body suit similar to the one he was wearing underneath and gave it to the General.
The General changed as Richard took out several pieces of metal from all over his body and started assembling.
By the time he was done, he had two semi automatic pistols and he gave the general a hand of small bullets.
“Put your finger here,” Richard said as he showed the general where to place his finger on the tablet he produced from nowhere and he did.
After that, Richard fumbled with it for a while and he then gave one of the pistols to the General.
“It works on fingerprint sensory. In anyone else’s hands, it’s useless. It has a power similar to a small grenade. So, be careful where you shoot,” Richard explained.
“Where did you get it? It’s so cool,” the general said as he rolled the small smooth machine on his fingers.
“Self creation. I had a lot of time to waste. Around five years in which I came up with a lot of inventions. Here,” Richard explained as he handed the man a knife.
This was not your normal everyday knife. It was small and serated and it looked sharp.
“Works on fingerprint sensor still. Be careful, it can cut bone,” he said as he continued with whatever he was doing.
He then handed the general dark goggles that he claimed could see in in the dark and sense body heat.
He then gave him several magazines loaded with bullets in addition the bullets he had given him.
“Ready?” Richard asked the other man.
“When you are,” the General replied with a grin he seems happy to be back in the action.
“Wear that mask and under no circumstances are you to leave my side,” Richard said and at that the General grimaced.
“I am a general. Do you think I got here by being baby sat?” He felt indignant at being told not to leave Richard’s side.
“And yet who I am here to save,” Richard said and the General had no comeback for that.
“Okay. I’m going to turn this building dark,” Richard said and using the watch on his hand, he pressed a button and it went pitch black.
It was like the main switch had been turned off.
“What if they have a backup generator?” The general asked.
“You think they use the National Power supply here? Oh, come on!” Richard said but he understood the General.
His specialty, as Richard had learnt before coming to Dela Lucia, was weapons and combat.
The General wasn’t a techno savy person and so, how such an underground building was powered wasn’t his strength.
“Let’s go kick some ass,” the general said as he put the darkness goggles on and followed Richard out.
It was pitch black everywhere and they could hear the captain swearing as he came out again followed by the soldiers and they could see them as they tried to fumble about.
“They won’t allow us to bring phones here or any electronics and now there is no light? Come one! What are the engineers doing?” The captain lamented as he held onto the wall for it was pitch black.
“Captain, what to do?” A soldier close to where Richard was standing asked.
“Let’s go back to our rooms until I receive any type of communication,” at least we know that the General is still inside the premises,” he said and returned to his room and the free soldiers who had come out returned to their rooms too.
It looked like these were those who and finished sweeping their floors in search of the General.
Richard and the other man walked until they came to the stairs.
“What’s the plan?” The General asked.
“First, we kill those monstrosities. Lead the way,” Richard said and the General didn’t question him.
They went upstairs and the General opened a door. As with the other floors, this one too opened to a corridor.
They could hear snores as if whatever was in the huge metal cells was sleeping.
“They are here,” the general said and at that, there was silence as if the animals had agreed to stop snoring together.
Richard sensed something and even before he could turn and check, he pushed the General and they went tumbling down and that’s when he turned and saw a man towering above then.
He was very tall and huge bodied and his eyes looked like a cat’s.
He lifted his leg intending to crush Richard beneath it and Richard swiped his knife on the big foot and he felt the knife strike home and the animal meawoed like a cat.
He almost laughed because it was funny for such a huge thing to produce such a small adorable sound.
Whatever it was, it had realised that it wasn’t dealing with normal humans.
“Maybe it thinks food had been brought,” the general said as he aimed at the things chest and he shot.
There was eerie silence as they waited and then Richard pulled him away.
“I told you to check where you shoot! Fuck!” He said as they ducked and there was an explosion.
They couldn’t see clearly because it was all greenish and orange-ish and rhwybsaw several orange-ish things fly about.
“Wow! This thing is powerful. It’s like my wife. Small but explosive,” the General joked as he admired his handiwork.
The thing, whatever it was, had been dismembered by that one shot.
“They might have heard that one. Let’s work quickly so we can leave,” Richard said as that stood and felt wetness to their clothed which he guessed might be blood.
They went through each cage shooting and there were explosions all over as they ducked and when they were finally done, they left with the General beaming.
He then took Richard to the floor with the offices. They were able to sneakily get into the bunk which had all the secret information they wamted.
“I will bring back the lights. You keep watch as I scan all these documents. Make sure you stay out of sight,” Richard said and the General wanted to reiterate and he remembered Richard’s sharp tongue and he kept quiet and walked towards the door.
Richard pressed the same button he did on his watch and the lights came back on. The general was so impressed that he was looking at Richard, whose face he hadn’t seen so far, like a god.
Richard took his special tablet and started scanning the documents. He did that for several minutes and the General kept watch until he heard the General say, “incoming.”
He stopped what he was doing and turned off the lights again.
“Fuuuuuuck! I hate this. I thought Henrik had figured out where the problem was. What now? The President is going to be so pissed. We have lost twenty two specimen and they were in their final stage. Damn it!” A female voice said as she lit a torch and walked into the office they were in.
“Did I leave this open?” She asked the person she was with and he looked at the door as he shone a light on it and seemed to think.
“Maybe. We left in a hurry and you didn’t turn to lock it,” the man replied and she walked towards her table.
“Why are there so many documents on my table? Did I take them all out? I don’t remember. Running this damned place is taking a toll on me. I think it’s the lack of fresh air,” she complained as she sat and it was at that moment that her phone rang.
“Oh, I will be damned. It’s the president,” she said as she received the call and seemed to listen without saying anything. She then hang up with it saying anything and laid her head on the table.
“What did he say?” The man asked.
“He wants Tiger and Jaguar to be transferred tomorrow to the capital city. Apparently, there was an infiltration in the State House and he wants to be ready just in case.
I couldn’t bring to tell him about tonight. I want to rest today and let him have my head tomorrow. We have literally lost millions,” she said in a tired voice.
“I was a doctor, how did I end up here?” She asked a question tat was supposed to be hypothetiavla but the man with her answered.
“You are still a doctor. Just working for a different cause and earning much much more,” he said and at that time, her phone rang again.
She listened and screamed into the phone as she threw it down.
“What the matter?” the man asked as he shone his light all over looking for the fallen phone.
“Damn! I will kill that old geezer. Tell everyone to keep the General for me when they find him. I am going to castrate him before I kill him,” she said as she rose.
“What has he done Doctor?”
“Tiger and Jaguar and the rest are dead! Blown up pieces. I am sure it’s him. Oh, I am dead. Antonio will have my fucking head,” she said as they walked out again in a hurry.
Richard switched the lights on again after making sure that they were gone and the General was snickering.
“I would have loved to see her face in light. She sounded so furious,” he said as they took positions again.
“We have to be quick and find a way to get out to wait for the extraction team,” Richard said as he went back to scanning the remaining documents.
“I love screwing Antonio over. These are all tax payers money being used to kill the said tax payers,” the General said and kept a look out.
