Macy Carli Philips was twenty five years ago in Royals Hospital in Wyoming where the Philips were living then with his new wife. Christopher had just got married and gotten a new job.
Since Christopher Philips was the next in line for the patriarchy of the Philips family, their rules dictated that he had to work in another company for five years and rise in rank to show that he was able to run the Philips Group.
While there, his wife got pregnant and she was taken to Royals Hospital in Cheyenne where they were living by then.
What they didn’t know was that the babies were switched in the hospital and another couple, Mr and Mrs Smith went with their child and they took the other family’s.
Eighteen years later, it was discovered when Angela, the one who was brought up by the Philips got very sick and she needed blood.
It was discovered that her blood was the rarest type, type AB negative and RO sub type. When the two parents were tested one was type O positive and the other B positive.
According to science, this was impossible and so, they had to do a DNA test that revealed that Angela wasn’t their daughter.
After months and months of lawyers travelling from DC to Wyoming, it was finally discovered that their child went with the Smiths.
The Philips flew there, including their daughter Angela and when they got there, no DNA was needed. Angela was an exact replica of her mother Mrs Smith and Macy was a photocopy of Christopher Philips except that she had her mother’s soft lips and eyes. But everything else exclaimed Philips.
When it was discovered that a mishap happened in the hospital, they obviously sure because it was due to negligence and Andrea Philips demanded to live with her daughter to make up for the eighteen years they had lost.
What was hard was to let go of Angela because they also loved her and she was about to do her university entrance examinations.
It was thus decided that both girls would go with the Philips with a promise that Angela would be going hone to Wyoming during summer holidays so as to get to know her family better.
What the family didn’t know and what the report Richard was reading revealed was that Angela already knew that sh wasn’t a Philips since she was little.
She had always been teased by her classmates that she didn’t look like her parents and she did a hone test and it proved that she wasn’t their daughter.
She asked her parents about her birth and they narrated it so well that she believe they wouldn’t be lying and when she was grown enough, she hired a private investigator whom she met through a mutual friend and it was confirmed that there was a switch in the hospital.
In fact, she had photos of her family, the Smiths, including Macy.
Except for the fact that she got very sick and she was out of it when the DNA test was conducted, she would have preferred to bury the secret forever.
But how since the secret was out, she was determined to live with the Philips. She was already used to a good easy life and she wasn’t about to go and live as a pauper with those pot filthy farmers who couldn’t even scrub a daily meal.
She thus made it her life mission to make sure that the Philips hated Macy and preferred Angela instead.
Macy was this innocent country girl who didn’t know anything about cocktail parties or balls and the life of the rich.
Thus, whenever the family would hold dinner, Angela would make it her goal to embarrass the innocent Macy. And Macy, being naive as she was, she always fell for it.
Foe instance, according to the report, there was this one time when there was a birthday party for old Mr Philips who we turning seventy back then and as was obvious, the who was who in the DC business world was there.
The party was held in the Philips hotel and it was obvious that Macy would go because she was the favourite daughter of the old man. He was so happy when she was found that he spent everyday with her.
While in the party, Macy was lied to by Angela to take a drink that she didn’t know was laced with drugs.
She thus got drunk very quickly and lost her marbles.
She was hot and she started misbehaving with the guests and Angela was quick to reprimand her putting in phrases like, “I told you not to drink it” and such. In short, it was an embarrassment for the Philips family.
That was just one of such many times until Macy discovered that Angela always put her in trouble and she started distancing herself.
By then, her mother had nothing but complaints about her. She was embarrassed that she couldn’t take Macy anywhere because she would embarrass her. She thus preferred the soft spoken well mannered and cultures Angela.
Macy and angela both did their university entrance examinations and they Macy got a direct entrance into the New York Acting School for Film.
Everyone accused Macy of wanting to be like Angela and that was why she wanted to do a similar course to her.
What they didn’t know was that Macy had been acting her whole life. In her school, she was in every play that was staged and she had in fact got a part in the local theatre.
But none of them cared and they thus didn’t try to find out.
As Macy was waiting to join university, which she knew wouldn’t be hard because her grandfather had promised her, that was when she was introduced to Andy Cane.
The Cane family was a family friend of the Philips and to cement the relationship, they had promised their children for marriage.
At first, it was going to be Angela but when mother Cane saw Macy she fell in love with her at first sight and that was also the girl Andy fell in love with.
Macy was not only beautiful on the inside but also out. She is sweet loving, kind even to strangers and she loved fiercely.
Withing the time she stayed with the Philips, she and Andy had already fallen in love and they were already talking marriage after she finished her college education.
That was when the Philips Group was holding it’s annual gala to celebrate a good year.
What was ironical was that the gala was held in the Grand Hotel owned by the Armstrongs.
Macy showed up with Andy and during that time, they were the power couple of Great Falls. Everyone wanted to be them and what they didn’t know was that this didn’t go well with Angela.
Angela was the jealous type and she wanted all the fame to herself.
That night of the gala, Macy had promised to give herself to Andy. He was the man she was going to marry and she didn’t see any problem with giving her first time to him.
Thus, when she was drugged and became senseless and was carried to a hotel room, Macy wasn’t even in control of her senses let alone her body.
That night, she had sex with a man who she thought was Andy.
When she woke up alone the following morning, she thought that Andy had already left for work and even when they talked later in the day, all was well.
All was well until Macy discovered that she was pregnant. She was worried at first and then she realised that she was pregnant for the man she loved.
At first, Andy was okay with it and his mother, Mrs Cane, was ecstatic.
Due to the pregnancy, Macy had to defer joining the University and she had no problem with it.
Their father, pulled strings and Angela went to an acting school in NY so as to be near the action center: Hollywood.
When Macy was eight months pregnant, Andy said that he wanted to talk to everybody in the Cane family and the Philips family. It was about his wedding to Macy or so he said.
They all gathered in the hotel where he had prepared dinner and by seven in the evening like he had said, everyone was there.
After dinner was served and eaten, all eyes were on him and it was his mother who broke the silence, “so dear, why did you after us? Have you changed your mind and you want to pull the wedding closer?”
Andy looked at everybody in the room and there was pregnant silence as all waited for him to say what was it he wanted to say.
He sighed heavily like he was making a very important decision and then stood up. He bowed Chinese style and maintained that position.
“I am sorry everyone,” he started and stood up straight, “Macy’s pregnancy isn’t mine,” he said and everyone gawked at him wondering what kind of a prank he was playing.
