Book:Alpha’s Regret: Chasing My Rejected Mate Published:2024-6-4

The road is bumpy, and the headlights are not flashing properly but Emily is still driving at high speed. Her eyes occasionally look at the rearview mirror to monitor the road and see the range of Katherine’s car. There was no way she could misdirect Katherine who is trailing behind her back steadily. She looks ahead of her, increasing her speed and thinking deeply.
Katherine on the other hand vows not to miss Emily this time around, she’ll get her and suffer her till eternity. Emily has always been an obstacle between her and Louis even after their separation, she needs to get her out of the way once and for all.
The night seemed long and the road ahead seemed longer, Emily wondered how she would get out of this mess. Losing Katherine would be a big relief to her but how? She was surrounded by a straight road and no possible roundabout lane to divert.
Maybe it was a distraction or maybe Emily was too preoccupied with thoughts that she did not see this bump ahead of her. The car goes out of control and she crashes into a nearby tree, the damage of her accident causes her to lose consciousness.
Katherine parks by the side and alights with a flashlight, she approaches the damaged car and tries to open the door. The front doors are locked from the inside, and Katherine looks like a good log of wood around her. Seeing a strong wood, she uses it to smash the window open and unlock the door, she drags Emily out and takes her to the car.
“You won’t escape from me this time around, Emily,” Katherine says to the unconscious body of Emily.
She contemplates showing Stefan that she’s caught Emily but Katherine reminds herself that he is not a man to be trusted. She should use this opportunity to her advantage, she’ll go back to Stefan but she will not show him that she has Emily as her hostage now.
Stefan is shocked that Emily escaped freely, when he sees Katherine’s car parked at his house, he hopes that she must have a piece of good news but he is disappointed when she alights alone.
“Did you find her?” Stefan asks.
“She outsmarted me, that bitch escaped successfully,” Katherine cursed out in pretense.
Stefan punches the wall severely until blood oozes out of his fists, “Dammit! I’ve had that bitch for so long and now, she’s out of my grasp. How am I going to stand before Louis and demand for his pack?”
Katherine refrained from hissing loudly, Stefan thought that he was going to use Emily to take over Louis’s pack.
“We will find her soon, consistency will help us fish her out wherever she is. She knows that she can’t come to the Crescent Moon pack because I’ll make her life miserable. We must find her in her hiding place,” Katherine says.
“You’re right, Katherine. I’ll leave it till tomorrow morning, it won’t take long before I fish her out.”
“Let me return to my pack.”
“Thank you.”
Katherine goes into her car and drives off, Emily is lying unconscious in her trunk. She drives to a warehouse and drags Emily’s body inside. She ties her to a pillar and pours cold water on her face to wake her up.
Emily jerks out of her unconsciousness, she looks around to see herself in a strange environment. When she sees Katherine’s face, her eyes well up in tears. She’s not supposed to be here, how did this shit happen again?
Katherine stares at Emily in disgust, her anger rising once again. She should just kill her right here and now but she can’t, she does not want to have blood on her hands.
“You thought that you could outsmart me. You should be thankful that I did not return you to Stefan.”
“Katherine, stop this madness. Are you not ashamed of yourself? all of this does not matter because Louis will still choose who he wants!”
Katherine slaps Emily hard, “You have the guts to say such nonsense. How would Louis even find you in this situation? This warehouse is the last place he’ll ever expect anyone to be so wake up Emily! Once the perfect time comes to kill you, I’ll do it without hesitation.”
“Why don’t you go ahead now? Do it, Katherine, kill me!”
“That challenge is too much for me to handle right now, I won’t listen to your lousy talks.”
With this, Katherine turns and leaves the warehouse. Emily screams on top of her voice but nothing is heard from the outside. Katherine returns to her pack with satisfaction but Louis’s cloudy face scares her.
“Where the hell have you been?” Louis asks.
“I had a meeting to attend,” she lies.
“The last time I checked you had no business meeting so what lies are you saying now?”
“I did go for a business meeting, baby. It came up in urgency and I had to attend to it.”
“From now henceforth, I’ll be notified of every business meeting you have. I’ll make sure that it’s true before you even attend the meeting.”
Katherine frowns, what other lies will she bring up in the future?
“Is that not too much of you? Baby, we agreed to be out of each other’s business…”
“Our agreement does not matter anymore, Kath. What I say will stand unless you have a skeleton in your cupboard…”
“What the hell are you talking about? I have nothing up my sleeves, but if you say so, you can keep a record of all my business meetings,” she finally agrees.
There must be some other way to be able to sneak out of the house. After all, she can’t allow her hostage to starve or be dehydrated – something must be done. Louis allows Katherine to go to the room, and he follows her shortly after. She pulls off her clothes to take her bath, as she is about to enter the bathroom, Louis notices a stain of blood on her arms.
“Katherine, what happened to your arm?”
“I had a minor scratch, I forgot to stop the bleeding.”
It is weird because he can’t see any scratch marks on her skin, he shrugs. Maybe he’s just too stressed out about everything that he can’t even see properly.
