Conrad stands at the door and waits for Emily to get ready for the festival. When she comes out, Conrad agrees that she is looking stunning. He takes her hand and leads her to the hall where the festival is being held. Emily’s heart is beating so fast that she wonders if it won’t fall out. But as Conrad held her hand, Emily’s heart seemed to be at peace. By the time the festival begins, Emily is already calm and ready for the best.
It started with the introduction of guests. Emily cringed when she heard Louis’s name being called, he wore a grey tuxedo shirt with pants, his hair was curled up and he was wearing a black mask. She took a deep breath in as she took in his features, he looked a bit taller than the last time she parted with him.
When he steps into the crowd, Emily carefully moves to the back. Although she is sure that Louis can’t recognize her with the mask on her face, she is betting against all odds of crossing paths with him. Conrad is busy with Jax, they are greeting the guests and moving around freely.
Her eyes are fixed on him, watching his every move. She notices that his eyes are darting around the hall as if he’s searching for someone – maybe Katherine.
“It is a lovely night, is it not?” a stranger says to her.
She cringes at first but relaxes when she looks at him, “Yes it is.”
“I’m Stefan and you are?”
Emily thinks at first, what if he is a spy sent to fish her out? She is not going to fall for any traps again. With a straight face, Emily replies to him.
“I’m Emma.”
“Nice to meet you, It’s my first time to be in the Moon Bearers pack. I must say that Jax is handling the pack well,” Stefan comments.
Emily looks confusingly at him, “Are you an Alpha?”
She knows that Alphas and dignitaries were invited to the festival. But it’s weird for a man like Stefan to say that it is his first time to attend the festival, it doesn’t make sense at all.
“Not at all, Emma. What about you?”
“I’m… I’m a Gamma,” she lies again.
Stefan nods, “Then I’ll see you around.”
Emily looks intently at Stefan’s back as he disappears into the crowd, there is a bad aura that emanates from him. He sounded nice but Emily is certain that this man will be dangerous. She shook his thoughts from her mind and focused on watching Louis closely.
Jax and Conrad are also watching Louis from their corner. Conrad’s eyes are mostly on Emily, his jealousy arises when he sees her talking to another man but he refrains himself from going there. He has to stay away from Emily to avoid drawing Louis’s attention to her.
“Do you think that this will work?” Jax asks, he is unsure of all this that is going on.
“I’m one hundred percent sure that it will work, we just have to watch them carefully,” Conrad says with alacrity.
Jax is worried that Emily’s happiness might be ruined that night and he will blame himself massively if such happens. Emily deserves to be happy without getting involved in Louis’s toxic life with Katherine.
“I don’t understand why Louis would suddenly want Emily back after all that he did to her,” Jax says.
“I don’t know either,” Conrad replies.
Emily is everything to him and he values their relationship, they will only break apart if Louis eventually enters the picture. As they relax and watch, Conrad only hopes for their plans to work out.
Louis is beginning to feel let down, he begins to believe Jax that Emily is not in this pack. But his mind is still not convinced about it.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Sarah successfully lures a servant into the bathroom and knocks her out. Freya emerges from the toilet with a wig in disguise, Sarah nods in satisfaction.
“No one will recognize you like this. Here’s the pill to add to Emily’s drink, make sure you follow her up once you see her leaving.
“Yes, Sarah.”
Freya is a little bit nervous because it’s her first time doing this. But her strong love for Conrad is pushing her to do this, she just wants him to notice her and make her his mate officially. She wants her life to change completely and live in luxury soon.
Sarah notices her uneasiness, she places one hand on her shoulder to comfort her.
“Freya, you don’t have to be scared. I am here to protect you and once I win the upcoming bride competition, our lives will change for the better, I promise.”
“I just want my life to change for the best. I want Conrad to love me like he loves Emily and I want things to turn out fine,” Freya says sadly.
“That’s why you need to make sure that this mission is successful, this is the first step in bringing Emily down and you must not fail,” Sarah says.
Freya nods vigorously, her confidence seems to be redeemed as she hears those encouraging words from Sarah. She needs to accomplish what needs to be done in other to achieve her happiness and that includes removing every obstacle on her way. She believes that once Emily is out of the way, every other thing will fall into place and Conrad will be hers. The reason why Conrad is not aware that they are mates is because he is in love with another woman, Freya needs to break that love for him to sense their connection and reunite with her.
“Very good. Now help me get this unconscious woman into the toilet so we can push through with our plans,” Sarah says.
Freya and Sarah struggle with the body until they dump and lock her inside the toilet. Freya puts on her mask and leaves the bathroom, ready to bring down Emily.
