Book:Alpha’s Regret: Chasing My Rejected Mate Published:2024-6-4

Her job as a gym instructor has finally begun – Emily hummed her favorite song excitedly as she prepared for work. She picked out a simple outfit since she was going to be a gym instructor, a red shirt with leather pants that would allow her to move about freely. She smiled at breakfast to everyone that her eyes met and when Conrad joined her, she started to blush instantly.
“Good morning,” she greeted shyly.
“Hi, Emily. I hope you slept well last night?” he asked her.
“I did, what about you?”
He nodded as he responded, “Yes.”
He sat down opposite her and served himself breakfast, she watched his flexible muscles as they swung the food into his mouth and he chewed with a smile curling at the corners of his lips.
Now Emily wondered if she was insane for thinking of such gibberish around Conrad, he was a fine man – no doubt- but her hallucinations were a bit over the edge. She cleared her throat abruptly and he looked at her, her spoon fell off her hand.
The servants rushed to pick it up for her. Embarrassed by her clumsiness, Emily buried her face in her food. Eating with so much force, she was only interrupted by Conrad’s voice when he asked her a question.
“What are your plans for today?” he asked.
Was he planning on taking her out on a date, Emily wondered. He wanted them to hang out whenever she was less busy, she wanted to hang out daily too. But she feared that she might get too attached to him only to find out that he did not think about her in any other way except as friends.
“Well, it’s just work and have a healthy dinner when I come back home,” she replied.
“I was wondering if you could help me pick out some of my special food items at a provision mall,” he said.
She hesitated, saying yes instantly would make him think that she was easy to get. She felt that pulling up a stunt at this early stage would help in strengthening their relationship later on – now who’s talking about a relationship?
“I’ll let you know when I close for the day,” she tells him.
He nodded in response and dropped his cutlery, she followed him behind as they stepped outside the pack house. He drives her off to the gym house where her work will take place, the students are already there by the time she gets there.
She smiles at them and keeps her anxiety in check, noting that she has to make a good impression on her first day at work.
“Good day, everyone,” she greets with enthusiasm.
“Good day, ” they respond in unison.
There are five students in total – three guys and two girls to be precise. They wave at Emily with a heartwarming smile on their faces.
“Thank you all for registering for my class, I’m honored to be here today.”
They nod and begin to introduce themselves, their classes begin and soon enough, her anxieties vanish in a twinkle of an eye. She begins to feel comfortable as the day goes on, the day ends with a successful training.
“Today went well. Ruby can you assist me in packing up?” she asks.
“Sure.”
Ruby is the only person in her class who is well-built in structure, his face is crimson red as he helps her lift some equipment. Emily catches up that she might have a student who is crushing on her.
“Thank you, I hope you’ll be in class tomorrow?”
“Yes, ma’am,” he replies.
Conrad is already outside the hall when they come out together, she bids Ruby goodbye and goes to meet Conrad.
“I see you’ve made a special friend,” he gestured to Ruby who was walking down the street.
Emily chuckled, “I don’t think I and Ruby are special friends, Conrad, he’s just my student.”
“By the way, how was your first day as a gym instructor?”
She stretched her body and yawned, “It was pretty fun to be with them. They are perfect for me, however, I’m so hungry because carrying heavy equipment consumes my energy.”
“We will shop for the food items together then I will prepare a hearty meal for you tonight,” he suggested.
“That will be lovely,” Emily accepted.
They went to the provision mall. Conrad picked out the food items while Emily followed him around, he showed her some important items she should be aware of.
“How is it possible for you to be so perfect when it comes to cooking?” Emily asks him.
Conrad smiles, “My mom was a good cook. So while growing up, she taught me some of her recipes and I applied them in every meal I’ve prepared. That’s why I’m a good cook.”
“You’re girlfriend will be so lucky to have you…” she shut her mouth immediately but the words are already out.
She blushes hard and looks away, scolding herself for being insensitive to say such things. Conrad must be mad at her for trying to pry into his private life, she deserves to be punished.
Conrad withholds himself from laughing out loud, Emily can be funny at times. It is funny to see that she thought he was in a relationship with someone else if only she knew that his heart yearned for her. Tonight, he is willing to put everything aside and ask her out. Since she is no longer in a relationship with Louis, it will be better for him to fill in the gaps that Louis left in her heart.
“I’m sorry for saying that, it’s so insensitive of me,” she apologizes for spilling out such words.
“No, it’s fine. I don’t have a girlfriend for now,” he admits.
“Why? you are the beta of this pack, surely there must be a lot of ladies that are willing to be with you,” she says.
“I can’t entertain such ladies because my heart belongs to another woman and I want to start a new life with her,” he says.
Emily sighs, she envies whoever this woman is. Conrad has a good heart and will take care of his woman with his heart. Silently, she congratulates the lucky woman who has stolen his heart. They drive back to the pack house in silence but not an awkward one, Emily’s mind is preoccupied with things that she ought not to think about.
She is flattered by the generosity of a man like Conrad and agrees that he has the qualities of a good partner, a man like him would have filled the blank space that Louis left if not that he has found someone else.
When they arrive at the pack house, Conrad holds her back as she is about to go inside.
“Is something wrong?” she queries.
“Can tonight be a sort of dinner date for us?”
Her eyes widen in surprise, “You want us to go on a dinner date?”
“Yes, the rooftop is a very relaxing place to eat with its refreshing atmosphere,” he answers.
“Yes, let’s go on a dinner date.”
