Mr Olivia was boiling with anger.
He had no way to get out of this, Mr Olivia’s only point had been on being family with the mafia leader, but Marcelo had shown everyone with the letter given to Theressa, he wanted no one else aside Theressa as his acting Mafia leader.
“You have the letter, but we don’t know you and neither do we know your abilities” A member was up on her feet, Theressa had recognised her almost immediately, sharp and penetrating eyes, groomed brows that arch gracefully above them, her nose elegant and refined, its straight bridge conveying a sense of authority and command, her jawline defined and angular, her lips are full and expressive, capable of delivering persuasive arguments with eloquence and conviction.
“Monalisa” Theressa began, not missing the slight shift in her expression as her little smile that played on her lips faded away instantly at the mention of her name. Isabella is the only name everyone present here, and every of her colleagues at H&E knows her as, she had dumped that name after the tragic event that occured in her family.
“I don’t intend to show you or anyone here my abilities, I’m working for the boss and I follow the orders from him, I’m not here to show off to anyone” Theressa stated, her voice cold piercing the ears of everyone present.
“With this I believe the meeting has been dismissed, thanks for your understanding” Theressa proclaimed, not bothering to shoot anyone a smile as she exited the meeting room leaving everyone behind her stunned.
Both Kayden and Theressa had gotten to the elevator. Theressa has never wanted to fall to the floor before, the tension, her whole muscles were so tight, she had to release a breath, her hand over her chest feeling the loud heartbeat. Slowly, the grip of nervousness loosens its hold, muscles once taut now soften, melting into a state of ease and tranquility as Theressa surrenders to the soothing embrace of relaxation.
“I will advise you to keep your head up high till we leave this building” Kayden uttered, causing a slight sharp pain in Theressa’s chest as she thought of facing the nervousness she just faced.
The door of the elevator splitted open at the ground floor, and Theressa could not wait to get out of here, to feel free from the tension of this building.
However as they got to where the car had been packed, the space was empty void of any familiar car.
“Where is the car?” Theressa questioned Kayden, her features contorted with worry as she had begun to look around for any sign of their car, Meanwhile Kayden seemed to have understood the situation as he stood still.
A honk caught the two attention as they both turned to a van beside them.
“Do you need a ride?” Mr Olivia asked, his eyes cold and steely, devoid of any warmth or humanity, a predatory glint in his gaze, a focused intensity that pierces through the air like a dagger, his jaw clenched portraying rage.
Kayden had stepped in front of Theressa, hands spreading as he hid Theressa from the beast in front of them. “We are good” Kayden stated, his tone firm, as he glared back at Mr Olivia.
Mr Olivia’s lips twitched into a smirk as the doors of the van slid open, men on all black rushing out from the car, their gaze never leaving Theressa who swallowed, her jaw tight as her breathing became more rapid, she was nervous, yes, but she was ready to fight, she wasn’t going to be Marcelo’s weak point or Kayden’s weak point and so her hold on her purse where a gun was hidden, tightened.
However a sport car came screeching across the floors of the underground park, Theressa’s eyes had widened, her focus lost, as her hand loosened its hold around her purse, the car was heading directly towards them with an abnormal speed. Mr Olivia’s men had lost guard as they all ran to a side, scared of getting hit by the car, but Theressa and Kayden made no move, Kayden had gotten an understanding of the situation already while Theressa tried to make out who the driver was through the tinted windscreen. She only succeeded the second the car came to an abrupt halt, the screeching sound so loud she had to cover her ears from the ear piercing sound.
Kayden had bowed before Marcelo as he stepped out from his sporty car, while Theressa’s eyes widened in astonishment, her legs forcing her to take steps towards him, but his gaze had shifted towards her, sending a message to her. She had lost guard, she wasn’t supposed to make a reaction, but she had been doing that for minutes now and Mr Olivia must have ascertained her, her abilities, he must have known the boldness she had was washed off by a single threat, Theressa felt disappointed, disappointed with herself as her gaze dropped to the floor.
Marcelo’s attention had shifted to Mr Olivia, who had gotten down from his van arranging his suit as he stood before Marcelo. Father and son glaring at each other, any normal person that passed by would think they were sworn enemies and not related.
Theressa couldn’t help but wonder why Marcelo hated his father, she couldn’t understand the relationship between the two, back at the dinner George and Mr Olivia seemed okay, they didn’t talk much but George seemed more free with his father than Marcelo.
Mr Olivia’s lips twitched to a smirk, his eyes rolling backward, “I thought we both decided to put the past behind us, you seemed to still be holding on to my little mistake”
Silence.
No one said a word, the air was thick, so thick it caused Theressa to hear her own heartbeat. Mr Olivia had signaled his men to exit the park, his gaze shifting back to Theressa who tried to not squirm under his gaze.
“You chose a stranger, a staff at your company, that knows nothing about our world, you chose her over your father?” Mr Olivia scoffed in disbelief as he took another step closer to his son. The two standing to face each other, both huge tall men not ready to back down, both looking like they were about to unleash the years of hatred, years of planned revenge on eachother.
This was no father and son, they were enemies, sworn enemies. Blood wasn’t enough to hold the bond, to wash the hatred they both had for each other away.
“I only did what uncle Joe would have done” Marcelo stated, his face lines tight, eyes not blinking, gaze not shifting away from his father.
Mr Olivia’s laughter erupted from deep within him, eyes widened in disbelief, lips parted in a wide grin, his laughter echoed across the underground park, with each peal of laughter, his body shook with convulsion, his shoulder heaving and his chest heaving as he struggled to catch his breath.
Theressa’s gaze squinted, there was nothing funny about what Marcelo said but Mr Olivia seemed to find it hilarious at the mention of the former mafia boss.
Just what is the connection, the hatred between the two.
“The dead man? Oh I raised you stronger than that, I raised you to make your decision” Mr Olivia said between chuckles as his hand fell on Marcelo’s shoulder. Marcelo’s gaze followed his father’s wrinkled hands that got on his shoulder.
“Come on, you and I know she can do nothing” Mr Olivia uttered, Theressa’s hand balled into a fist, as she tried to swallow the insult thrown at her.
“I stand by my decision” Were the only words Marcelo uttered before he turned away to leave.
“Get into the car” Marcelo ordered. Kayden immediately obliged, as he walked behind Marcelo, meanwhile Theressa had felt a hand gripping her arm pulling her. Her eyes shut as she winced, she was engulfed in a hug. Her eyes widened in realization. Mr Olivia was hugging her, so tight, as his breath lingered around her ear, she struggled to get out of his hold until he whispered into her ears.
“Your father in the grave must be disappointed seeing you turn out this way” He whispered.
Theressa stiffened, her eyes wide, as he let go, a smile playing on his lips before he walked away.
How much does Mr Olivia know about her? How did he know about her late father?
