After a full seven days of being hospitalized and with her condition already 80% improved, the doctor finally allowed Veronica to go home and continue outpatient care. Today, Darwin and Damian had been waiting in the room since early morning. They were both waiting for the doctor who had been handling the visits for the last time.
“I’ve prescribed all the medications,” Dr. Olivia said. “Seven days from now, don’t forget to come for a follow-up examination at the hospital. In the meantime, I ask Mrs. Veronica to rest at home first. Avoid heavy work, get enough rest, avoid stress, and, most importantly, maintain a balanced diet, especially with green vegetables.”
Veronica nodded in understanding. She agreed and was determined to follow all the doctor’s instructions. After all, it was for her own well-being.
“All right, Doctor. Thank you for your guidance. And about breastfeeding, are there any special vitamins or foods I should consume to ensure a smooth and sufficient milk supply for my baby?”
The doctor smiled and then explained to Veronica.
“I’ll prescribe some supportive vitamins. As for food, it’s a good idea to consume more fiber-rich vegetables like carrots, leafy greens such as mustard greens, spinach, lettuce, and broccoli. If you like oatmeal, you can have it for breakfast with your favorite fruits like apples and papayas.”
“Luckily, I haven’t been picky with my diet, Doctor.”
“In that case, it should be easier, Ma’am. Just remember not to overexert yourself, especially to the point of stress. If you need something or feel something unpleasant, try to ask for help from someone else. Because, it’s important to remember that stress can hinder breast milk production and even affect the baby’s feelings.” Then Dr. Olivia immediately turned to Darwin, who was also standing next to Veronica. “That’s why a husband’s role as a father is also important. If you see your wife getting tired, frustrated, or upset, quickly ask or offer assistance. During breastfeeding like this, a mother usually needs more support and attention.”
Darwin nodded, understanding the lengthy explanation the doctor had just provided. After the doctor finished the visit, she herself quickly handled administrative matters, while Damian accompanied Veronica in the room.
Making sure everything was settled, they all chose to go home immediately. Damian also chose to return to the office shortly after because he had a meeting.
Upon arriving home, Darwin and Veronica were greeted by all the household staff. They had been waiting eagerly for their employers’ return.
“Welcome back, Mrs. Veronica,” Renata greeted when she saw her employer enter the house. All the staff who had gathered seemed enthusiastic about the arrival of the new family member, baby Andromeda.
“Thank you, Renata,” Veronica replied warmly. Then she walked slowly, guided by Darwin, to go upstairs to the second floor.
“Win, why aren’t we going straight to the bedroom?” Veronica asked when Darwin led her to another room.
“I want to show you something,” he said as he opened the door to a room next to the master bedroom.
As soon as the door opened, Darwin immediately led Veronica inside. It turned out he wanted to show her the baby’s room, which he had decorated while Veronica was still undergoing treatment in the hospital.
“Did you arrange all of this?” Veronica asked in disbelief. She felt amazed by what her husband was showing her.
“Yes, I did all of this with the help of the decorating team.”
Veronica smiled. She walked forward, approaching the dinosaur-themed baby crib right in front of her.
“It’s really nice. We didn’t even plan a nursery while I was pregnant, did we?”
Darwin nodded.
“Yes, this room can be used or not, it’s fine. I just prepared it in case you want to teach our child to be independent from an early age, like modern babies out there. Plus, I made a connecting door, so you don’t have to leave the room to get to our child’s room.”
Again, Veronica smiled broadly. She was pleased and touched by what Darwin had done.
“Thank you so much. Thank you for preparing all of this.”
“This doesn’t even compare to the effort you’ve put in all this time, Ve. Thanks for risking your life for our child. I promise to take care of both of you as best as I can.”
Darwin then hugged Veronica and silently prayed in his heart, hoping that the happiness he was feeling now would last until death could separate them.
