Chapter 95

That afternoon, Darwin had just finished a meeting outside. As he returned to the office, he walked lightly down the building’s corridor, eager to reach his own office. A wide smile graced his face as he recalled the romantic events he and Veronica had experienced the previous night.
In the midst of all this urgency, he daringly approached and invited his wife to have an intimate encounter. Even halfway through, they were almost caught when Veronica’s father suddenly arrived and knocked on Veronica’s door repeatedly.
Luckily, everything was under control. The longing they initially had slowly started to fade away. Darwin admitted that the meeting and lovemaking they had last night with Veronica had fueled his determination to achieve what Darius had proposed to him.
“Sir…” Darwin’s secretary greeted him when he arrived at his office. “Mr. Rama is inside. He’s been waiting for you for a while now.”
Darwin nodded and quickly entered his office. He had requested Rama to come to the office to hear and evaluate the presentation he would deliver tomorrow in front of Foxtail and other participants.
Meanwhile, in another location, Sean was also busy conducting research with his team. He was deeply engrossed and dedicated to everything he was doing.
Darius had given Sean ample time and freedom to focus on Foxtail without having to worry about other work or deadlines. For the past few days, Sean had been seen working diligently on the materials he would present in the upcoming meeting.
“Sir, I’ve checked this multiple times. I can assure you it’s 100% ready for suitability testing,” one of the team members said to the division head who was also part of Sean’s team.
“Collect it all together. After this, I will review and evaluate it one final time. Once the last materials are completed, you can go home and rest,” Sean instructed, then continued with his work.
As the evening approached, Sean and his team continued to ensure that all the materials they had worked on were thoroughly checked. When they were done, he instructed his colleagues to go home and rest so that they would be fresh for their presentation to Foxtail the next day.
While all members of his team left, Sean remained in his office. He reviewed everything once again, making sure that the materials were flawless.
After a while, as he finished and began organizing the documents, Deasy suddenly entered. She had just finished attending a weekly meeting and decided to visit Sean, who was still in his office.
“Are you working overtime?” she asked as she stepped into the room.
Sean looked up, smiled, and nodded, confirming what Deasy had just asked.
“Yes, but I’m almost done. I’ll leave soon to get some rest.”
Once she was positioned in front of Sean, Deasy helped him organize scattered documents and folders on the table. After everything was neatly arranged, she sat down and waited for Sean to put some documents into his work bag.
“You’ve been very dedicated to this tender, haven’t you? I bet if you win, Mr. Darius will reward you generously,” Deasy commented.
Sean smiled again. What Deasy said was true. It was precisely because of the tempting prize that Darius had offered that Sean was putting in every possible effort to secure the tender.
“Your guess is correct, Des,” Sean nodded. “I can’t help but be enthusiastic about this task when the rewards are extraordinary.”
Deasy smiled widely. She was delighted to hear the news Sean had just shared.
“I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you to pass the selection this time. If Darwin loses, it means Veronica will soon separate from him, and you’ll have another chance to get close to Veronica like before.”
Sean chuckled. He was somewhat reluctant to discuss this matter.
“I don’t want to hope too much, Des. Let’s see how things go.”
“But…” Deasy continued, “When I first met Mr. Darius, I told him that Veronica had someone who loved her more, valued her more, and had been willing to fight to prove himself, and that person was you.”
Hearing Deasy’s words, Sean was taken aback. He didn’t expect her to reveal this information to Darius.
“D-Did you tell Mr. Darius that I was Veronica’s ex-boyfriend?”
Deasy nodded.
“Yes, I did. I told him everything, that you and Veronica had liked each other, loved each other. And eventually, you were separated because Veronica had to marry someone as unreliable as Darwin.”
“Oh my goodness, Deasy. Why would you tell Mr. Darius all of that? It could make the situation even more complicated.”
“Don’t worry,” Deasy replied casually. “He took it positively. I’m sure because he heard my story, he chose you to represent Vortex Group in this tender and compete against Darwin. Just look at the prize he’s offering. It means he has 100% confidence in you to win.”
Sean fell silent. His mind was processing the information. Perhaps what Deasy said was indeed true. Darius might have intentionally chosen him for this tender to defeat Darwin.
“That’s why, Nath…” Deasy continued, “You have to win. Maybe after winning and becoming the leader, Mr. Darius will arrange or approve your marriage to Veronica. Who knows.”
Sean nodded. Although all these possibilities existed, he didn’t want to think too far ahead. His current focus was solely on winning the big Foxtail tender so that his dream of leading a major company could come true.
