Vivian: Darling, happy birthday. May at this age, you become even more successful. May all your wishes and dreams come true soon. Love and cherish me more. And most importantly, I hope we can get married soon. From me, who is loyal and always loves you, Vivian Salim.
Darwin’s smile brightened as he opened his eyes this morning and found a text message from his beloved, Vivian. Apparently, his sweetheart had sent birthday wishes since midnight.
Sitting up, Darwin immediately searched for Vivian’s contact on his phone. He called his girlfriend to express his gratitude for the prayers Vivian had offered.
“Morning, Babe.”
As the call connected, Darwin heard Vivian respond with a sweet tone. Her gentle voice made Darwin even more captivated this morning.
“Morning, Love. Have you been up for a long time?”
“Of course. I’ve been up since four o’clock.”
Darwin furrowed his brow. He was curious why his girlfriend had to wake up so early.
“Why so early? Couldn’t you sleep like usual?”
“No,” Vivian denied. “I purposely woke up earlier to prepare a special birthday cake for you. Although I could buy one, I want you to eat a cake I made myself. This one is made with feelings and love.”
With his hand on his phone, Darwin smiled. His heart blossomed further upon hearing what Vivian said. He was both touched and delighted that his sweetheart had gone to the trouble of preparing a special cake herself to celebrate his birthday.
“You’re really sweet,” Darwin said.
“Of course. Whose girlfriend am I?”
“Darwin Walters, of course. Whose else?”
“But, today I can really see you, right?”
Darwin rolled his eyes playfully. He thought for a moment, recalling his schedule and activities for the day.
“Today, I have a meeting outside the office around nine or ten. Then, after lunch, I have a meeting in Bandung. But I’ll be back in the evening. Maybe I’ll be in Jakarta by night.”
“Well, that means we can’t meet, huh?” Vivian pouted with a mix of playfulness and annoyance. She probably felt frustrated because the cake she had painstakingly prepared might not be accepted by her boyfriend.
“No, we can still meet,” Darwin hurriedly assured. He tried to calm Vivian as quickly as possible. He couldn’t bear to hurt her feelings.
“When can we meet?”
“How about this morning? Before you head to work, just drop by my office. Or do you want me to pick you up? Then we can have lunch together in my office before I go to the meeting.”
“Sure,” Vivian agreed enthusiastically. She was ecstatic that Darwin was still trying to make sure they could meet today. “You can pick me up, alright? Then we can go to your office together. But before the meeting, please drop me off at my office.”
“Sure thing, Your Highness. I’ll pick you up at 7, how about that? So we can get to my office faster and have more time together.”
“Agreed,” Vivian replied with joy on the other end of the line. “Okay then, I’ll take a shower and get ready. You too, make sure to shower and then come pick me up.”
As soon as the call ended, Darwin hurriedly got ready. He prepared himself and rushed to pick up Vivian, who was waiting at her apartment. In fact, he was so excited this morning about meeting her that he even skipped breakfast and the drink his housekeeper had prepared.
In his mind, there was only one thought-to meet as soon as possible and spend time together. Enjoying his birthday with the person he loved.
“Sorry if I’m a bit late,” Darwin said as Vivian, whom he had just picked up, got into his car.
“No worries, dear. You’re not late at all. It’s perfect timing.”
“In that case, can we head out now?”
“Of course.”
Darwin accelerated the car he was driving, directing it to reach the Infinix Group building.
As it was still quite early, there was hardly anyone in the office except for security personnel and office boys responsible for cleaning.
Upon arriving in the room, Darwin immediately led his girlfriend to sit on the couch. They engaged in conversation before finally enjoying the cake that Vivian had specially prepared.
“You never fail when it comes to making these cakes,” praised Darwin.
“It’s delicious, isn’t it?”
Darwin nodded.
“Very delicious. It would be wonderful if I were married to you. You could make cakes or snacks like this whenever we have leisure time.”
Vivian smiled. Rising from her seat, she approached Darwin’s position on the corner of the couch.
“If you want, I can make them every day. I can even bring them to you every day so we can meet at the same time.”
Darwin smiled. He pulled Vivian close and then lifted her onto his lap. He held her hips tightly and soon Darwin broke into a smile.
“No need every day, dear. You’ll get tired. What’s important is that you’re happy. Waiting until marriage to have cake is taking too long, Win.”
“Just a little longer,” Darwin quickly corrected. “I promise, next year we’ll be married and living together. So, just wait a bit longer. After that, we’ll live happily.”
Vivian nodded. Lowering her face, she planted a deep kiss. With her lips slightly parted, she kissed passionately, not forgetting to bite and peck every corner of Darwin’s lips. Giving small nibbles. And not long after, she received an equally passionate response from the man holding her.
Meanwhile, from behind the door, neither of them noticed a woman silently observing. She clenched her fists tightly with tear-filled eyes. Vowing in her heart to repay all the pain she was feeling right now.
