~Maya’s POV~
As I was watching the news reports about my husband and the woman with whom he was engaged, I found it difficult to think clearly. In fact, I don’t even have a job, while the woman works as a model. I am a complete and utter nobody. Why did Zion choose to marry me, although he is still engaged to another woman? I was under the impression that we were in some sort of unique relationship with one another.
What exactly are you doing? Maya Zion is your husband. Husband and wife should always have faith in one another, I thought to myself.
Our marriage was hastily arranged, so it is safe to assume that he had a life before he met me. I am furious, but he is my husband and not Kelly Martin’s. I must wait for Zion to inform me of the situation. I hastily rushed upstairs so that none of our employees would notice how agitated I was becoming. I received a phone call from Zion as I was climbing the stairs to the second floor, but I was unable to answer the call. I didn’t want to say something that would be taken negatively. Considering that I don’t know everything about him, I should refrain from venting my frustration at him. Then I walked into my room and nestled myself in bed, but just as I was about to fall asleep, I received a text message from Zion.
Mine: I love you Lady Archer.
Maya: I love you too, Lord Archer.
Initially, I intended to express my feelings of affection, but given the current circumstances, I’m not sure what to say. The fact that I didn’t pick up his phone call is something I’m confident he will understand. I fell asleep almost instantly. I slept until 4:00 p. m. A knock on the door jolted me out of my sleep. I dragged myself to the door, where I was greeted by one of the workers who had been waiting for me.
“Lady Archer, Lord Archer has been trying to reach you on your phone but has been unsuccessful so far. He’s also been contacting the house phone line as well. Lord Archer instructs you to prepare a car that is on its way to fetch you up.”
I nodded and immediately took a shower. I opted for a pair of sweatpants with a white vest on top, which I paired with a check shirt. I wore a buttonless check shirt. I then donned my sneakers. I walked outside, where a car was waiting. Our destination was one of the Archer Group hotels. I had no idea I was required to dress to the nines. Whatever the case, Zion should have alerted me to the fact that something was going on, but he didn’t. The vehicle came to a complete stop in front of the hotel. I went down, and the driver opened the door for me.
“Lady Archer, you should go to room 1001.” I gave a nod and entered the hotel after nodding.
Just as I stepped through the door, I noticed a woman approaching me and looking at me with disgust. She took up a position in front of me.
“Can you tell me why you got out of the car with the license plate number, Lady Archer?”
I fixed my gaze on the woman in front of me. It was then that I recognized it was the woman I had seen on television earlier. I took a good look at her and then locked my gaze on her face.
“I don’t see how any of my movements concern you, miss. Do I know you?” She appeared startled.
“My name is Kelly Martins, and Lord Archer is the man I am engaged to be married to.”
“So what?” Then I noticed yet another perplexed countenance.
“You don’t know me?”
“Do you happen to be someone important that I should be aware of?” I noticed the woman frowning and attempted to go away, but she stopped me in my tracks and barred my path.
“You haven’t given me any information about yourself?”
“Listen here. I don’t have the luxury of your time, and I don’t see any reason why you should be in my way.
If you want to know who I am, perhaps you should inquire from your fiancé about my identity. Now get out of my way.”
As soon as I saw the private elevator, I murmured something like that. I walked in with a heavy heart, and I was not even sure how I was going to confront my husband at that point. Everything is a complete and utter disaster. Coming out of the elevator, I was welcomed with roses and instructions on what to do next, which I followed without hesitation. I followed the signals, which were accompanied by red roses, and they took me to suite 1001. When I knocked on the door, it opened of its own accord. An “I’m sorry” statement scribbled on the floor with roses was the first thing that caught my eye when I walked in. Taking a step forward, a big-screen television began to play a video clip. It was a video of the Martin family proposing marriage to the Archer family, which was shown to me. I noticed Zion rejecting the union right away. I also saw another man who is the older version of Zion, declining to marry his son for business. Then Kelly Martins opened her mouth to express that she loved Zion and had done so for as long as she can remember. Zion, on the other hand, declined and left. I then saw an old man giving Kelly a wedding band to wear as part of the union. The meeting between the Martins and the Archers was no longer being shown on the large screen. It was now replaced by Zion. He swallowed and cleared his throat.
“I wronged you, my love. I understand that you may be questioning my feelings for you, but I have never felt the same way about another woman as I do about you, Lady Archer. I was wrong. I should have told you about the arranged union. You are my wife. It should not have been necessary for you to learn about it on television. My heartfelt apologies to you, my love.”
I looked around to see if someone was nearby to tell me where Zion was, but there was no one. This dude has a unique ability to leave me stunned. Please, God, do men such as Zion exist or am I simply dreaming? My eyes were welling up with tears of joy. For him to take the time to show me where it all began shows how much he appreciates our relationship. Someone was holding and kissing my neck from behind me, and I knew it was my husband.
“Please accept my apologies, my love, and Happy Mother’s Day.”
I turned to face him and stated, “I am not yet a mother, Lord Archer.”
“Well, my lady, we certainly had some sweltering nights, and I believe I may have formed a little Zion.” It was really endearing to hear him be so self-assured, but I’m not sure I’m ready for children, save for anything involving Zion. I’m going to accept it with both arms wide open. He is the ideal husband sent from heaven.
“Thank you for taking the time to explain and thank you for your Mother’s Day sentiments. It breaks my heart to admit that I ever had any doubts about you.”
He turned and gave me a bear embrace.
How did I become so fortunate? I thought to myself. I thought to myself.
