Laura’s POV

Book:Entangled With The CEO Brothers Published:2024-6-4

So much had happened during this time that I hadn’t paid attention to these physiological changes.
At first, I thought it was just irregular due to stress. And my periods were always irregular, so I didn’t think much of it.
But now…
After a wave of nervousness, I felt the urge to vomit again.
“Miss Campbell, maybe you should go to the hospital, I’ll accompany you tomorrow.”…
The next day, I sat in the hospital corridor, feeling anxious and uneasy. When they called my name, I could barely stand steady. The gynecologist was a kind middle-aged woman. She adjusted her glasses and smiled gently at me, “Laura?”
“Yes,” I replied.
“25 years old this year?”
I nodded again.
“You’re 8 weeks pregnant, not even three months yet. During this time, you must take care of your body.”
She picked up the ultrasound report and looked at it before continuing, “The fetus is developing very well, and coupled with your young age, it’s the best childbearing age. Pay attention to your diet in normal times, and this child will definitely be very healthy.”
“Doctor!” I interrupted her, “I…”
“What’s wrong?”
I made up my mind, “I don’t want this child, can it be aborted?”
She looked surprised, with a doubt in her eyes.
“You… don’t want this child?”
“I don’t.” I confirmed again.
Although it pained me, I really couldn’t afford this child. I didn’t know what I would face after giving birth to him, and I couldn’t give him a complete home. He would be an illegitimate child, despised by others, and even his biological father might not want to see him. What right did I have to bring a life into this world to suffer?
I closed my eyes and shook my head gently, “I don’t want… Doctor, please help me find a solution. I want to abort him… I know the longer it gets, the harder it will be, so please perform the surgery now while it’s only eight weeks.”
“I can’t keep this child, I have my reasons!”
“If you have your reasons, why did you get pregnant in the first place? Why didn’t you protect yourself?” The doctor frowned.
“Doctor…”
“Miss Campbell, it’s not that I won’t perform the surgery for you.” She spoke solemnly, then picked up another test report, “It’s your physical condition that really isn’t suitable for surgery.”
“We’ve just done a detailed examination for you. You have a sensitive constitution, and gynecological issues… Abortions will cause significant damage to your body. If you terminate this pregnancy, it’s very likely to cause infertility in the future. Miss Campbell, you should think more carefully about it!”
Her words left me feeling uneasy.
During those few days, I felt like I had lost myself, with my mind completely blank. Yet, my early pregnancy symptoms were unusually strong, and I was constantly vomiting every day.
The news of my pregnancy couldn’t be kept secret from anyone, nor could it be hidden. It spread, causing a stir among The Lynch Family, even reaching the company.
Queenie cornered me outside the company building.
In the bustling lobby, Queenie said she wanted to talk to me alone. She looked a bit weary, her belly bulged out with pregnancy.
She silently looked at me, her gaze cold and disdainful, yet with a strong jealousy that couldn’t be concealed. She scrutinized me from head to toe, finally locking her eyes on my abdomen and letting out a cold laugh.
“So, you’re pregnant too.”
I remained silent.
I didn’t know how to face her. She was Cameron’s wife, while I was just a third party. Her child was the cherished jewel of both The Lynch Family and The Scott family, while my child would forever be a despised illegitimate offspring.
I hated Cameron even more.
“Laura,” Queenie lowered her head and caressed her belly, her smile somewhat helpless, “I actually came here today to ask for your mercy.”
“Please spare Cameron, spare my father,” she looked at me.
One moment, her eyes seemed to want to devour me with hatred, but the next moment, her pleading and pitiful appearance made me feel as if I had always wronged her.
“I already know about my father’s situation, it was you who reported him, and the news release was also written by you,” she said. “But do you know, Cameron is going to prison for my father?”
I took a deep breath and looked at her coldly. “Yes.”
“You really should treat your husband better!”
“Laura…”
“Cameron and I have nothing to do with each other anymore. There’s no question of whether to spare him or not,” I interjected. “As for your father, he did break the law. Whether Cameron wants to take the blame for him or not is your family matter, it has nothing to do with me!”
“Do you dare to say he has nothing to do with you?” she blocked me. “The child in your belly is also his!”
“So what? It’s just an accident, I won’t keep this child.”
“Are you really that heartless, Laura!” Queenie shouted.
The already bustling lobby was now even more crowded with people.
Queenie fell to her knees in front of me.
“Laura, I’m begging you!” Her voice trembled. “We’re both going to be mothers, can’t you empathize? I don’t want my child to be born into a broken home!”
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Lynch,” I stepped back. I had to bite my lip hard to appear calm.
“I can’t empathize with you… I won’t be a mother, I don’t want this child! I’ve already said Cameron and I have nothing to do with each other anymore, and I can’t influence the judiciary as just a little journalist! Queenie, your pleas won’t work on me! You should be thinking of finding a good lawyer now, maybe they can reduce Cameron’s sentence!”
“Do you have to be so ruthless about this?”
She raised her voice suddenly, and all eyes turned towards us.
“Miss Campbell, I’m begging you…”
I didn’t know if her tears were genuine or just an act.
I didn’t know if she truly loved Cameron deeply, or if she only loved his status and the benefits he could provide her.
But now, seeing her kneeling in front of me, it reminded me of the scene many years ago when she trapped me in the bathroom, when she arrogantly told Cameron I was Jacob Campbell’s biological daughter at the prison gate, when her sharp high heels nearly pierced my eyes, and all the insults and humiliations she had heaped upon me…
She had always looked down on me and despised me. And now she was kneeling before this Laura she looked down upon.
I felt a myriad of emotions inside me.
“Laura,” She looked at me, a tear sliding down her cheek. “We’re both carrying Cameron’s child!”
“I’m just asking you to help him. Is that so difficult for you?”
She bit her lip and made a determined decision. “Laura, I promise you, as long as Cameron is safe and sound, I won’t trouble you again in the future! I’ll live peacefully with you… If Cameron likes, I won’t mind if he builds another home with you outside, I won’t be jealous anymore…”
“Queenie!” I looked at her incredulously, shaking with anger.
The people around started whispering. They must all be gossiping about me… about how shameless this Laura is, clearly she stole someone else’s husband, and now she’s sending him to prison.
Queenie looked up at me, “Laura, I’m begging you!” She continued to plead.
As the situation escalated, more and more people gathered around.
“What’s going on?” Suddenly, a hand rested on my shoulder.
I was startled, and when I turned my head, I met Carter’s gaze.
He smiled lightly, first helping Queenie up, then saying to his assistant, “Isn’t it working hours now? Why are so many people gathered here?”
Just as the crowd was about to disperse, Carter’s voice rang out again, “Mrs. Lynch seems to have made a mistake. Laura isn’t carrying Cameron’s child.”
Not only Queenie, but I was also stunned by his words.
What exactly was Carter up to?
“How is that possible?” Queenie looked at him. “Considering the timing… They’ve been together for quite a while, plus that video… this child must be Cameron’s!”
Carter chuckled, “Do you really wish for another woman to carry your husband’s child?”
“What do you mean by that!”
“What I mean is, Laura has no relationship with you and your husband! She will soon be my wife.”
“Carter, this…”
“The child is mine,” Carter glanced at her indifferently.
Queenie’s face changed, and I was caught off guard by this turn of events.
But Carter remained indifferent, holding me tighter.
Queenie remained stunned for a long time before letting out a cold laugh, “This… this is impossible. Carter, you’re not…”
