“How is she?” Horace asked. Clara was stunned for a moment before she realized he was asking about Helena.
She repeated the nurse’s words, said nothing more and fixed on having dinner.
Horace had guessed that she didn’t eat much food today, so he didn’t say anything more.
Because she had dinner late this evening, Clara couldn’t sleep so soon, or it would be bad for her health. Therefore, she sat on the sofa and turned on the TV.
Because of work and Neo, she hadn’t watched TV dramas in a long time. Every day, she had to work in the daytime and take care of Neo at night.
Without Neo here, she felt really empty.
As soon as she turned on the TV, she saw a couple kissing passionately. With a frown, she changed the channel. Seeing this, Horace was amused, but didn’t laugh.
Clara kept changing the channel but didn’t find anything interesting. The TV dramas nowadays were really boring. She gave up, ready to wash up and go to sleep now.
Horace followed her and go to the bathroom with her.
Back then, to add some joy in their lives, they had set up two washbasins and mirrors in there so that they could wash up together.
Seeing that he followed her everywhere, Clara rolled her eyes at him. But Horace was already brushing his teeth, she couldn’t kick him out.
The next day, when Clara got to work, she said good morning to Leilah. It was when she found that Leilah looked overjoyed today, so she asked what had happened.
Leilah then told her everything.
Yesterday, after Clara left, Leilah and Logan went shopping and went back to Leilah’s home. Leilah’s parents really appreciated Logan and even asked Leilah when they would get married.
When Leilah told them who Clara really was, her parents were surprised at first and then thought it made sense. After all, Clara was really likeable, it made sense that her brother was such an excellent man.
During the whole time, Logan didn’t show off his wealth and act arrogant at all but kept chatting with Leilah’s parents. They really hit it off.
Anyway, Leilah’s parents had changed their minds about Logan.
When Logan left, they even asked him to drop by more often.
Leilah was still in surprise when she talked about it.
Hearing this, Clara wasn’t surprised at all.
The last time she visited Leilah’s home, she found that Leilah’s parents were both kind and nice.
Of course, they would like her brother. Since Logan had met Leilah’s parents, their relationship had been furthered. Did it mean they might get married? Clara asked Leilah, who wasn’t sure of it yet.
“I don’t know. We haven’t talked about it.” Clara nodded after hearing her answer.
Anyway, it was about the two of them, she shouldn’t interfere too much.
No matter what, she was happy that Logan and Leilah were in a good place.
Then, the two of them started working.
…
After work, Clara didn’t go home but went to the hospital.
When Helena saw here, she was surprised.
Clara wondered if there was anything on her face; otherwise, why would Helena stare at her like that?
“I thought you wouldn’t come,” Helena said and looked at Clara.
In some aspects, they were really alike.
When Helena thought of this, she heard Clara’s words. “Have you had dinner? How was last night?”
Helena felt warm when she heard this.
She wondered whether or not she should tell Clara where Neo was now. She had noticed the dark circles under Clara’s eyes and the fact that Clara had lost a lot of weight. It must be because of her son.
Laura had asked Helena to kill Neo a long time ago. However, Helena had met Neo several times, she couldn’t be so cruel to kill him, so she had secretly taken him somewhere and hidden him.
She didn’t plan to tell Clara about it, but her mind was shaking now.
“What’s wrong?” Helena didn’t say anything, so Clara asked.
Did anything happen last night? Or was there anything Helena want to hide from her?
“Nothing. I’ve had dinner and last night was good.” Helena thought she should wait and see. Maybe Clara was just pretending to be nice to her in order to get her to tell Neo’s location.
Clara stared at Helena. She did seem fine and a lot better than yesterday.
But the doctor said she should stay in the hospital for a few more days. After all, her illness could get serious at any moment.
Clara agreed. In the following days, she came visit often and brought a lot of supplements for Helena so that she could get well soon.
Helena had seen everything that Clara had done for her and her mind was in a mess. Should she do as what Laura said to avenge her or should she tell Clara the truth?
She had no idea, so she decided to wait for a perfect timing to tell Clara everything.
Clara didn’t find any of it. She paid Helena daily visit.
One day, Isaac came. Seeing that Helena had fallen asleep, Clara walked out. Isaac must be here for something important. Clara stood there and waited for his words.
“Ma’am, why are you taking care of Helena? Have you forgotten what Laura had done to you? She was the one who broke your family and almost killed you!”
He had just heard from Esther that Clara had been taking care of Helena, he was so angry that he rushed here immediately. But after he said those words, he realized that it might be a bit too harsh.
“Ma’am, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.” Although he no longer worked for Clara, he respected her like always.
Clara knew that he only said those words because he cared about her, so she shook her head, not taking it to the heart.
Then, she looked up at him and said, “No matter what her daughter had done to me, she was the one who raised me and I have to pay her back.”
Clara said that with determination. Hearing this, Isaac fell into silence.
Since she insisted on this, there was nothing more he could say. He nodded, chatted with Clara for a while before he left. When Clara returned to the ward, Helena had woken up.
She stared at Helena without saying a word. The room was so quiet until Helena decided to break the silence.
