Horace went up to Clara and disperse the crowd. Then he put his arm around Clara and said gently, “Clara, come home with me. Let’s go home together.”
Seeing Clara’s dispirited look, Horace felt upset as well. They had just lost their boy. Neither of them could be happy. Now Horace just wanted Clara to go home with him.
It’s not safe for Clara to wander about at night. Plus, he just killed Laura. Who knew if Helena and Shane would seek revenge? The right choice for Clara was to stay at home.
“Don’t touch me. You’re the one to blame. You lost my boy.” Clara pushed Horace away. But her strength was too small, she even stepped back a bit. Luckily, Horace held her back, otherwise she would hit the tree behind her.
“Honey, come home with me. We can talk about it when we get home.” Horace cajoled her into going home. There were too many people outside, which could lead to chaos.
Clara was also very tired. Horace’s face always reminded her of Neo. She reached out her arms and held him tight, while murmuring Neo’s name.
“Neo, Neo. You’re finally home. Mom misses you so much.”
After Clara said it, Horace felt that his shoulder turned wet. It was Clara’s tears. This was what a mom without her son looked like.
When she saw someone like her son, she couldn’t help imagine that person as her son to relieve the aching pain. This was human brain’s automatic transformation. When it got worse, it would become what people usually called Schizophrenia.
Horace had to pretend as Neo, “Shall we go home?”
Clara nodded and followed Horace back home.
By the time they got home, Clara had fallen asleep. It seemed that she was exhausted. She walked for a day, and Horace had looked for her for a day. They were all tired and craved for a tranquil night.
“Ah, my Neo.” Early in the morning, Clara broke the quietness with a scream. Horace suddenly woke up and looked at Clara, puzzled.
“What’s the matter, Clara?” Horace asked. He thought that Clara would only be upset this morning. But he was stunned by what he saw.
“Horace, my son, my son is dead.” Clara stared at Horace panickily, then bounced on the bed.
Seeing Clara like this, Horace felt helpless. He planned to take Clara to see the doctor.
Clara now looked like she had a mental breakdown due to the tremendous stress and low psychological endurance. He already knew it without seeing a doctor. But he didn’t know what to do to help her.
He had had a lot going on. They went to a trip, but Helena was seriously ill. After taking care of Helena for a period of time, Neo was lost. Maybe he could make it right, but it happened again and again.
No matter how strong ones’ mental endurance was, he or she could be stricken by the setbacks one after another. Clara always pulled through everything herself and seldom sought help from others. She had been scarred inside.
Clara suddenly broke down due to Neo’s death, which led to the current situation. Horace should own most of the responsibility. Now they had to go to the hospital.
“Clara, let’s go, I’ll take you to find Neo.” Horace wanted to say that he would take Clara to the hospital, but he was afraid that she would not cooperate or was unwilling to go out of fear.
Clara behaved very well when she heard that she could meet Neo. She sat still and remained quiet all the way. She was looking forward to seeing Neo.
After arriving at the hospital, Clara instinctively stepped back. Horace felt it, but he still took Clara’s hand and walked into the hospital. Clara needed to go to the hospital.
Horace knew a psychiatrist in the hospital, so he went directly to the doctor without the bothersome procedure. Horace knocked on the door and went in at the answer.
“Horace, you…” Carl Pennington, the psychiatrist, looked at Clara who acted crazy, flustered. Did his wife go crazy and need treatment?
Horace nodded, telling Carl that he guessed right. Horace looked at Carl asking questions and checking on Clara, but Clara didn’t dare to look into his eyes. It went rather difficult.
The final result was as Horace expected. The next step was how to alleviate the symptom. Horace was worried that the medicine would have side effects, so he asked Carl to prescribe some drugs with minor side effects.
They talked about the dos and donts of Clara’s disease. After that, Horace nodded and led Clara away. When they went outside, Clara looked at Horace with expectation.
“What’s the matter?” Horace didn’t know what Clara was indicating now, so he asked. He thought Clara might be uncomfortable or something, but what Clara said surprised him.
“Neo.” Horace didn’t know what to answer. He could only look at Clara and say, “Neo is not here now. As long as Clara behaves well, Neo will come back.”
Carl told Horace to coax Clara like a child. Even if Clara said something difficult to do, he should agree. Only in this way, Clara’s mood would be lightened and her mental condition will gradually improve.
Horace had no choice but to follow the doctor’s instructions, hoping that Clara can cheer up as soon as possible. Horace stayed at home to take care of Clara while helping those people find Neo.
Clara never had an onset since taking the medicine. She kept talking to Horace like a child. Horace also coaxed Clara patiently. But one day Clara went into Neo’s room and broke down again.
It had been half a month since Clara broke down last time. Horace thought that taking medicine for half a month would be fine, but now it seemed that Horace was too sloppy. Clara accidentally went somewhere she shouldn’t go to.
“Clara.” Horace wanted to stop it. But he failed to grasp her clothes. Then she heard Clara’s voice.
“Neo, my Neo is dead. Neo, don’t leave mama.” Clara was neither crazy nor noisy, but cried on Neo’s bed for a long time.
When she got up again, her eyes were completely swollen. Horace couldn’t bear it. He came forward to hold Clara and left the house. But he suddenly heard Clara talking in a cold tone.
“Don’t touch me.” Horace froze. Clara hadn’t talked to himself in this tone for almost a month. Did it mean that Clara’s disease had been cured?
