Logan left, while Horace and Clara followed quickly. After all, Logan was the guest. They couldn’t make the guest wait for them.
“Clara, Neo, let’s go,” Horace called Clara and Neo and left.
Isaac went with Logan to make arrangements.
“Okay.” Horace was still holding Clara in one hand and Neo in the other.
Their faces were filled with happiness.
Clara hadn’t been back to Horace’s place in a long time. She wondered if the place was the same as before.
Was there any trace of her? Did it still look the same as how she decorated it?
Thinking of this, Clara got excited. She couldn’t wait to get home.
Sensing Clara’s mood, Horace sped up. The house remained the same way as when Clara left.
Nothing had changed.
“Dad, how big is our house?” Neo imagined what his new home would look like, but had no idea.
“Yes. It’s bigger than your uncle’s house.” Horace looked at Neo’s cute look and said to him dotingly.
Horace’s house was indeed bigger than Logan’s, although only a bit.
“Yeah, okay. I like big houses.” Neo applauded happily as soon as he heard Horace’s answer.
Clara knew why Neo liked big houses, but Horace didn’t, because Horace was not around when Neo was younger.
“Why do you like big houses, Neo?” Horace asked his question.
“Because I live in a big house when I was a child, I want to live in a bigger house in the future, so that I can protect my mother when I grow up.”
Neo knew from an early age that he was a man and had to take on the responsibility of protecting his mother because his father was not around.
Now his dad was around, but he was still mom’s little guardian angel.
Horace was shocked when he heard Neo’s words. His son was much better than he thought.
Neo knew that he was a man and he should be responsible.
He was better than many adult men.
Horace was proud of his son.
“Aren’t you going to protect Daddy?” Horace just wanted to hear what Neo would answer. He didn’t really need Neo’s protection.
“Well… Dad is a man. You don’t need my protection. I believed that you are strong enough to protect me and Mom.” Neo thought for a moment and replied.
Listening to Neo’s words, Clara, who didn’t speak, smiled.
“So, what if I couldn’t protect myself?” Horace continued to ask.
“Then I’ll protect you.” Neo looked at Horace and said firmly.
Neo knew that everyone would be old. By the time when Horace was too old to protect them, he would take the responsibility.
“Good.” Horace was happy. It was the first time that someone wanted to protect him. And it was his son.
“But the premise is that you love me more than mom.” Neo suddenly seemed to remember something and said a little worriedly.
Horace thought Neo was jealous, but Clara knew the real reason Neo said this.
“Why?” Horace asked.
“Because you had loved mom so much but you didn’t love me before. You have to compensate.” Neo said jokingly.
He knew that he had accidentally said the wrong thing, but since he had already said it, he won’t change.
Horace finally realized that Neo wasn’t jealous. He simply lacked fatherly love.
Neo hadn’t gotten enough love from him because he was absent in Neo’s earlier years.
Although Neo said it in a joking tone, it was even more shocking than it would if he said it in an upset tone.
What had Neo gone through to make him speak about something unpleasant with a smile?
At the thought of this, Horace’s heart ached. He didn’t know how to comfort Neo.
Clara, who was sitting with Neo, spoke.
“Neo, I’m sorry for you, it was my fault to separate you and your father for five years. If it wasn’t me, you won’t be so unhappy now.”
Clara knew it was her fault, but she always thought that Neo didn’t care about his dad whom he had never met. Yet she was wrong.
Clara was shocked to know that Neo was thinking about his dad all the time.
“No, it’s not your fault. Neo, you can rest assured. I will never abandon you again.” Horace was distraught as he heard Clara take all the blame on herself.
So he made a firm promise to Neo.
“Okay. Don’t lie to me, mom and dad.” Neo made a cute expression, which made the two laugh.
Clara and Horace inadvertently looked at each other, both in great joy.
Horace reached out and grabbed Clara’s hand and looked at her, feeling warm.
Seeing their happy faces, Neo obediently sat on Clara’s lap, trying not to disturb them.
After about twenty minutes, they reached home.
Logan seemed to have arrived a long time ago. He was now sitting on the couch drinking tea.
Standing next to him stood Isaac, who was silent.
After the confession, Isaac seldom spoke. Everyone had noticed that.
But they didn’t say anything.
But Clara felt weird. She planned to have a talk with Isaac later.
“Didn’t you guys take the same road with me? Why are you so slow?”
Logan had been drinking several cups of tea before Horace and Clara arrived.
So, he couldn’t help but complain.
“No, no, no, that’s because your car is much better. You can give us one of your cars if you don’t want to wait for us again.
Clara said mischievously. Since Logan complained about their speed, he could give them one of his cars.
