“Mom?” I repeated but once again no sound could be heard from the other end of the line, for a moment I thought someone was playing a prank on me but then I knew that voice so well and deep down I knew it belong to my mom. What the hell is going on? How did she contact me? The first day I was brought here, I remember trying Jake’s phone number but it never went through. I slowly drop the telephone trying to process what just happened.
I sat there for a long time still staring at the phone and hoping the caller calls back but no call came through and I was forced to leave. I wondered if I should tell Jet what happened but then I wasn’t sure of anything, it could be my mind playing tricks on me. I let out a frustrated groan into my pillow, I glance towards the entrance when the door opened and Jet strode into the room.
I hurried over to him, the first thing I checked was his stomach, as Claire assured me earlier, it had healed with no sign of a stab wound. “You were stabbed” I stated and I could tell he wanted to deny it at first but he nodded at the last minute. “Everything is getting out of control, I can’t believe they would stab their Alpha” I shook my head in disbelief. They all admire and adore him but now because of me they are going against him!
“Everything will be over soon, my men have got a lead on where he might be” I figured out he was referring to Jake and my eyes widened at the realization that my mom could be with Jake! I felt Jet cup my face and I turned to look at him. “You look pale, are you feeling unwell?” He asked, his voice laced with concern.
“The phone rang earlier and when I pick up the phone I could swear I heard my mom’s voice before the line went dead” I heard up a finger knowing what was coming. “If it was someone from the pack then they would have called me Freya not Emma. The only people who know my name is Emma is you, Claire, Hunter, Kale and probably Morgana but none of you calls me by that name so who could have called?” By the time I concluded my sentences, Jet’s face had darkened in anger.
“The bastard is closer than we suspected then, Morgana has a lot to answer to” He hissed and then dashed out of the room. I followed him closely behind in confusion wondering what he was talking about. Camille was with Morgana and they were both startled to see us, Jet grabbed Morgana by the throat and then slammed her against the wall.
“Alpha!” Camille shrieked in fear. “You are hurting her” She gave me a death stare like it was my fault. I know it must have been something I said that made Jet react this way but she doesn’t know that! If it’s one thing I have learnt so far from Morgana and her niece is the fact that they would blame me for anything.
“If you do not start talking this instance Morgana, I’m going to fucking snap your neck and I shall do it right in front of your niece!” He growled at her, his hand tightening at her throat. My eyes couldn’t take it, she could hardly breathe, just gasping and coughing.
“Jet please stop” I pleaded. “How is she going to talk with you choking her?” I inquired and to my relief he let her go immediately.
“I do not understand what you mean!” She flinched as he growled at her. She glance at me, her eyes filled with fear because deep down we both knew Jet would have killed her a second ago if I hadn’t interfered. “Freya please talk to him! I know I messed up by telling everyone about who she is at the party but I’m terribly sorry for my actions and I apologized” She cried out, she almost had me fooled if I didn’t know better.
“How the fuck did Jacob get his hands on the castle telephone numbers? And how the bloody hell did he know which room to dial? You better start speaking Morgana, my patience is running out and you know what happens when I lose my temper!” He snarled coursing her to jump.
“He… we met at the lab and we have been in contact ever since then….” She trailed off as the door open behind me and Hunter hurried in.
“We have a situation Jet, the Hunan scientist is here” He announced and everything in me went still immediately, Jake was here? What the hell was he doing here? I glance at Jet but his eyes were still pinned on Morgana, a hurt expression on his face it broke my heart to see him that way and to know Morgana was responsible for it made my blood boils.
“Make sure he does not pass the border, I shall be with you shortly” He ordered not for once turning to look at Hunter, it was as if he was scared that if he turn his back on Morgana she could stab him. Hardly anyone notices Hunter’s confusion or him leaving the room a second later.
“You knew what I fucking went through in the lab Morgana, we were friends! Your pack were taken over by the councils and I welcomed you into mine! I risked the lives of my men to get your niece back and this is how you fucking repay me?” He demanded his eyes shifting from red to their normal colour, I could tell he was on the verge of losing it.
“None of this would have happened in you never brought that human here!” She shouted. “We were happy together Jet, I was to be your mate! Do you think I would want to live a life of a lone wolf forever? I’m fighting for what belongs to me and all his fair in love and war. I will never do anything to put your life in danger, Jake loves Freya, they are both human and we both know she will be much happier with him than she would ever be with you….” She let out a scream as Jet punch the wall above her head.
My heart almost jumped out of my body because for a second I thought he wanted to hit her. My attention was drawn towards Camille as she started to cry, I had no idea why but I didn’t care. Jet was hurting right now and my heart ache for him.
Jet laughed in a manic voice. “You were never meant to be my mate, you are a breeder Morgana, you could be bred by just any dick. I’m going to say this as politely as I can, I’m going out to deal with the human bastard and when I return, I do not want to see you anywhere near my pack because I, Alpha Jet banished you Morgana from Midnight Pack” I didn’t understand what was going on until Camille gasp and Morgana let out a painful howl as she falls to the ground screaming and in shock I watch as the tattoo mark on her neck disappeared, Jet strode out of the room without much of a backward glance.
It felt like forever before Morgana got back on her feet, and she immediately launched towards me to attack but Camille catch me by surprise when she fling her off me. “Get out!” She growled at her aunt.
“Camille… Please hear me out” She pleaded.
“No! You made me believe the human was the enemy! How could you be on the side of people who torture me for years? And you leave me no choice anyway, you are a rogue now, if you want to make it out of here alive I suggest you leave now” She hissed.
“This is not over yet Freya” She threatened as she walk out of the door, she paused when she saw Claire by the entrance. “Claire listen to me” She cried but Claire darted away from her.
“You are not only an omega now Morgana but you are a lone wolf, no pack, no mate. Is it all worth it? If you had not done any of this you would still be a member of this pack, and you would still have Jet’s protection but now who is going to protect you from the councils? You did not get everything you deserve but leave, we never want to see your face ever again!” Claire warned before pushing her out and closing the door in her face.
I suddenly felt weak and tired. “Jake is here” I announced recalling what Hunter came here to say. “I need to be there” I made to leave but Claire blocked me.
“The reason why I’m here is because I was ordered by Jet to watch you and not to leave your site. Jet will be fine….” Claire didn’t even finish her sentence when something knocked me off my feet and send me flying across the room!
With the help of Claire and Camille, I was able to get back to my feet. To make matters worse, I was bleeding but I couldn’t tell which part of me was bleeding.
“Something has happened to Alpha” Camille cried out softly speaking the world in everyone’s mind. I dashed out of the room like a possessed woman and they followed behind, I stop abruptly as a figure came to block the entrance to stop us from leaving. My eyes were so wide with panic as Jake stood in front of me with several men in black suits behind him. He looked nothing like the guy I had known for half of my life.
“Good to see you Emma” He smirked.
