I was getting more worried by each second with no sign of Jet anywhere, Hunter had taken the few warriors into the forest to search for him while Claire and I had taken the car to search for him around town, but there was no sign of him and the sun would be setting anytime soon.
“Do you also think we should have gone with Hunter? There is no sign that Jet has been around here and we’ve asked several people, but no one saw him. Nothing seems out of place” I asked, finally breaking the silence, none of us had spoken since we left the castle too preoccupied with the consequence of not finding Jet before the moon comes up.
“You are correct, at least no one got hurt and we have nothing to worry about. I shall tell the driver to take us back to the castle” She answered leaning towards the driver seat in front of us.
I stared out of the window absently trying to think about where he could be, something ticked into place the minute I thought about it, I recalled when Jet had taken me to the identity register office or whatever they called it, on our way back we had stopped the car and wanted to take me somewhere, okay I kinda ruin the surprise so he didn’t end up taking me there, what if he was taking me to his favourite spot? And how do I find it when I don’t even know my way around anyway? I groaned out in frustration.
“Are you okay?” Claire asked with concern, I shook my head yes before looking out of the window once more. Once we got to the castle, I jumped out of the car and hurried inside, another place Jet loves to be was his study, what if he was in there the whole time we were searching for him? Just like I was suspecting, the door was slightly open.
That explains why he had left so quickly without a trace. I unlocked the door, stepping, I couldn’t suppress the look on my face when the person turned out to be Morgana instead, what was she doing in his study? Most importantly, wasn’t she suppose to be helping Hunter to look for Jet in the forest?
“What are you doing here?” I demanded as I stepped further into the room.
“I could ask you the same thing since Jet banned you from ever coming to his study” She replied, I promise to worry about how she found that out later.
“You were supposed to be out with Hunter helping him, are you even helping at all aside from blaming me for everything?” I fling at her.
“I believe it was obvious, I do not want to be around you or Claire, Since you appeared in our lives nothing make sense anymore, my best friend stood against me, and Jet could not even control himself because he denied who he was for you. Why does everyone care about human? You do not belong here and the worse mistake you made is trying to accept a life here” She snapped, glaring at me with her wolf eyes, the first time that happened she wanted to attack me so I took a step back to make sure I have a headstart in case she plan on repeating it.
“That is what you keep moaning about Morgana, I belong here. You might not like it but it doesn’t change the truth, we need to put our differences aside and focus on finding Jet, it would be bad for everyone if we can’t find him before the full moon” I suggested, folding my arms across my chest waiting for her to decide.
“I do not have to listen to you, Jet left because of you in the first place, all you do is make things worse, do us all a favour and stay out of it” She yelled at me before shoving me out of the way as she exits the room.
“Hunter” I heard Claire call from outside which had me racing out to meet him, but only Hunter was alone with no sign of Jet anywhere, I tried to calm myself deciding Jet was probably in his room. “You could not find him?” Claire beat me to it by asking.
“Yes, it was getting dark so I had to order the warrior to return home, they cannot be out looking for Jet, it’s the full moon everyone need to be under control” He answered darting a worried look in my direction.
“So you guys are just going to leave him alone in the forest?” I snapped not believing what I was hearing. “You are werewolves, why are you afraid of the full moon? We should be afraid of what Jet might do not the full moon!” I cried out.
“Please someone explain to this human what a full moon night is” Morgana interjected and not giving anyone the chance to, she continued. “The full moon forces us to shift even when we do not want to, it is a full moon night, and other werewolves will be out possibly looking for their mates, it is too dangerous to be out by this time” She explained in a tone that suggested that I was an hopeless case.
“I’m a human after all and the moon has no effect on me, so I’ll go out there and look for him. It was my fault he left in the first place” I informed them right before walking away, I could hear footsteps behind me but I didn’t bother turning around to look until the person walked past me and then stood in front of me, blocking my path. I stopped abruptly just before I bumped into Hunter.
“What part of ‘it is too dangerous’ you do not understand?” He snarled, making me to step back, I have never seen him get this angry before, in fact, I didn’t think Hunter could get angry. “This is an order from the Beta Freya, you are not allowed to step out of the castle!” He growled.
“Hunter!” Claire chided stepping in front of me. “Keep your wolf under control, you are scaring her!”
“The order includes everyone one of you, no one is permitted to leave the castle” He repeated ignoring Claire completely, once he strode away. Claire and I exchanges worried looks hoping whatever that had gotten into Jet hadn’t gotten into him too, at least I was thinking that.
“Well. the Alpha is missing, the Beta is acting like a jerk and the Gamma is currently unconscious what a great way to start the full moon night. I shall be in my room in case anyone needs me” Morgana said breaking the silence when no one replied to her, she turned and left leaving Claire and me alone.
“I don’t have a room again, the guest room I was supposed to stay in has been destroyed yet again, I will just crash into Jet’s room instead,” I told Claire who frowned at me in confusion. “I meant, I will sleep in Jet’s room instead. Goodnight” I fake a yawn as I started to walk away.
I went inside Jet’s room and waited for a few minutes since I decided to seek them out once everyone had gone to bed, but I wasn’t expecting to see guards station outside the room, I quickly hurried back in shutting the door behind me. Damn! I just give Hunter that, he is clever, how did he know I would try and sneak out?
I went over to watch as the moon fully appeared in the sky, howls could be heard from the distance and with each passing minute dread filled me, I grew more terrified of the news that would be awaiting us once the sun comes up again. Praying that some sort of miracle happens and Jet won’t hurt anyone, I laid down on the couch staring up at the ceiling as I recalled everything that had happened between Jet and me this afternoon, soon I drift off.
I was up at dawn looking around the room for any sign of Jet but I was still alone, I left the room to check if the others were awake and the first person I saw was Kale coming out of the guest room he had been put in. “Kale!” I cried happily running towards him, he raised a brow at me right before I fling my arms around him.
“Good to see you alive Freya, I thought Jet would have turned you into a zombie by now,” He remarked coursing me to smack him by the arm.
“To think I was happy to see you alive” I reported stepping away from him.
“Where is Jet?” He asked, looking around as if expecting him to pop out of nowhere.
“We don’t know where he is, for someone who doesn’t have feelings in his Lycan nature, he left when he thought I said I didn’t like him for being a Lycan” He made a face at me. “Of course I like him, I just don’t like how out of control he was. I’ve never seen him lose control before even during the heat, he seems to always be in control of himself. My point is, he left and we haven’t seen him since last night” I concluded hoping Kale would have an idea where he went.
“Fuck! It is dangerous for Jet to be out there….” He trailed off when Claire brush past us running towards the front door, we followed her behind wondering what could chasing her.
“Enough!” I heard Hunter growl, giving the guard that was trying to stop me a death stare, I hurried over to join them, by them I meant Hunter, Claire and Morgana. I gasped staring open-mouthed at the several dead bodies lying down in front of us. The scene was horrific, I felt sick.
“Jet, he was in town right? He killed all these people?” Tears rolled down my eyes, I couldn’t bring myself to look again, I didn’t want to believe he had killed his own people.
“Kale, I’m pleased to see you are awake, take some of the warriors and ride into town, pass the orders that everyone must be on lockdown until the Alpha is found. The word should not get out of the pack” Hunter ordered. “You can also ask questions and find out where he was last seen”
“Noted” Kale agreed, walking away.
“I’m sure the councils are aware of this” I blurted out referring to Hunter’s earlier statement about how no word she got out that the Alpha is missing. “And we need to find him before the councils do, we cannot allow them to use him to do much damage, worse they can use him against us to take over the pack” Their haunted faces was enough to confirm my suspicions.
