Aubree was being discharged from the hospital today and Riley brought her back to the Harris family.
Aubree’s face was quite pale. For the past few days, she had taken her meal and never made a fuss. Although she had kept up with the nutrients provided, her face was still bloodless.
Aubree entered the house and walked up to Mrs. Harris. She bent down and bowed sincerely without hesitation.
”Mrs. Harris, I’m sorry,” Aubree said. Aubree’s mind was blank when she was committing suicide and she had thought a lot of things for the past few days.
Aubree couldn’t understand and think of anything else. However, the only thing Aubree had figured out was that Sidney Hudson had really dumped her.
Aubree really had nothing left.
The more this had happened, the more she should live her life well instead of being a fool to commit suicide.
Aubree had to live a life beautifully to show Sidney that even without him in her life, she was still able to live her life well.
”What are you doing?” Mrs. Harris lifted her shoulders up.
”Mrs. Harris, you are a nice person as you are the one who brought me back from hell and I committed suicide without considering the location at all. I’m sorry,” Aubree said. The tears dropped from her innocent eyes were endearing.
Mrs. Harris became soft-hearted suddenly and did not blame her on the matter of committing suicide.
”Alright, don’t cry, I feel bad too whenever you cry,” Mrs. Harris said. Mrs. Harris was feeling slightly moved as soon as she saw Aubree cried because Mrs. Harris was not a person who hold grudges.
”There are a few days left before the school begins. Since you and Riley are studying at A university, you could stay here and make yourself at home.” Mrs. Harris took her by the hand and sat down.
”Mrs. Harris, I’m really sorry that I caused you troubles,” Aubree said.
”Don’t mention it. Riley has been taking care of you for the past few days. In future, both of you should try to get closer in the university, ” Mrs. Harris said.
Mrs. Harris gave Riley a sidelong glance, ”Stop making friends who have bad behaviour. Every time I see him hanging out with those people, I feel scared because I’m worried that he wouldn’t be back after the outings.
”Come on, Mom!” Riley said as he did not like to hear this. ”It doesn’t sound so scary actually, I’m not going out for a fight though,” Riley said.
”I’m telling you that you should be careful as your father is going home soon to lecture you,” Mrs. Harris and Riley were having a small quarrel.
Aubree was trying so hard to make herself to smile and she turned around faintly and went upstairs. She was thinking back on the past that Riley and her were the same as both of them were relying the love and favor from their family. They would say anything they wanted without hesitation.
Things had turned differently right now as she would have to fight alone from now onwards.
Aubree entered the room and lock the door. The smile from her face was gradually disappearing and her eyes were becoming calm.
It turned out that this was what heartbroken felt like. Obviously, she could cry and make a big fuss but she chose to keep the feeling of sadness to herself.

After a few days, Mr. Harris was back from a business trip in overseas. It seemed like it was a big collaboration that would help a company with poor business performances to get back on track. The Harris family was so thrilled about this matter.
Mr. Harris also had brought a lot of gifts for them even Aubree had her share of the gifts.
Aubree accepted the gift with a smile and thanked Mr. Harris politely for a several times. She knew that Mr. Harris had regarded her as his future daughter-in-law.
”Riley, I will drive both of you as the school begins tomorrow, ” Mr. Harris said.
Dinner time, Mr. Harris said.
”No, Dad. I will take Aubree to school by myself. It would be so embarrassing as I’m old enough for not needing both of you to send me!” Riley was so reluctant.
”Your decision doesn’t count.” Mrs. Harris looked at Mr. Harris with a smile and gave him a wink. ”Aubree will make the call,” Mrs. Harris said.
The hands of Aubree were stiff for a moment and her eyebrows were showing a sense of good manners,”I will listen to Mr. and Mrs. Harris’ opinions,” Aubree said.
Riley was not happy and he looked at Aubree with full of suspicion. Riley knew that Aubree was always well-behaved but he couldn’t help himself to ask Aubree, ”Don’t you have a period of rebellion?” Riley asked.
Aubree opened her big eyes and shook her head as she did not want to remember the past, ”I’m not sure but probably there was,” Aubree said.
Mrs. Harris secretly kicked Riley under the table and Riley realized that he had said something wrong.
”Alright, you two may discuss what are the things that needed to pack tonight and Mr. Harris and I will send you two tomorrow.” Mrs. Harris took a piece of meat to the bowl of Riley and hinted him to stop talking with a wink.
Riley secretly looked at Aubree’s face and relieved that Aubree did not have any reaction.
”Aubree, Mr. Harris and I had been there before, the conditions for the dormitory of A university are poor. I think that Riley and you could be back and stay for every weekend.” Mrs. Harris made herself clear.
”Mrs. Harris, I’m feeling sorry for staying in your house for a few days and I will be repaying your kindness someday.” Aubree put down her chopsticks solemnly. She knew that if she continued to stay over, it would definitely cause the misunderstanding to be deeper.
”Since I have to live alone someday, I would have to get used to that kind of life. I hope that Mr. and Mrs. Harris could also believe that I’m able to do it,” Aubree said.
Riley stared at Aubree in a daze. He had known Aubree for three years. He used to think that Aubree did not talk much but right now, she seemed to be hiding herself.
Based on these few words, Mr. and Mrs. Harris were embarrassed to say anything else.
Mrs. Harris was about to say something else but stopped on a second thought. Aubree pretended not to see it and ate quietly.
After dinner, Riley and Aubree went upstairs. Mrs. Harris had prepared blankets and sheets for both Riley and Aubree in advance because they were going to stay at school.
This was the home of Riley. Riley had everything he needed and did not lack of anything else.
Conversely, Aubree had nothing but only a few clothes given by Mr. Harris.
”Aubree, do you need anything else?” Riley had a headache and looked at the messy stuff in his own room.
Aubree took the initiative for squatting down to help Riley to tidy up the mess. Aubree tidied Riley’s stuff such as anime figures and game consoles and said that ”I’m not missing anything and I’m already satisfied.”
Aubree and Riley had no relatives but Aubree was being provided with basic necessities and had stay at Riley’s house for some time. Even though she lacked of everything, she felt that she could live a normal life because of the help from Harris family.
”Riley, could you help me to find a part-time job once the school starts? You have known more friends than I do. Unlike me, I don’t have any social circle.” Aubree put the things in order as these are the things that Riley wanted to bring to school.
Riley thought for a while, ”Are you going to do a part-time job?” he asked.
”Yes.” Aubree squatted down and turned her back to Riley. Her voice was muffled, ”There is still a life to carry on after all,” she said.
Riley’s cell phone rang suddenly when he was about to say something. He felt uncomfortable when he looked at his phone. He did not dare to make a sound and went out to answer the phone.
After a while, he came back with an expression that couldn’t be described as happy or unhappy.
”Aubree, if there was nothing going on between you and Hendrix Elliott, would you be together with him?” Riley sat beside Aubree and looked at her.
Aubree was stunned as she subconsciously went to look for the pain that she experienced in the beginning but no matter how she was thinking, her heart couldn’t feel the pain.
Aubree smiled bitterly. She had forgotten that her heart was being numb for some time and didn’t have any feeling.
However, that was good too.
”Why are you bringing up this suddenly?” Aubree pretended not to care but her hands were still moving.
”No, nothing, just felt like to ask.” Riley took the anime from Aubree’s hands and carried on to tidy up by turning his face slightly to the side.
