Alexander’s mind was torn between defending Cesilia and protecting Casandra. He didn’t want to lose either of his wives, and he couldn’t understand when he had started to fear losing Casandra as well as Cesilia. Casandra had become an essential part of his life, filling the void left by Cesilia.
As he saw Casandra crying in her room, Alexander felt overwhelmed with emotions. He knelt in front of her, wanting to comfort her and make things right.
“Sir, I want this marriage to end. Please let me work here for any salary you decide, so I can repay all the money you spent on my father’s medical bills. Even if I doubt I can pay it off in my lifetime, it’s still better than being a paid wife like this. I don’t want to be oppressed and humiliated by Mrs. Cesilia.
Honestly, I never wanted to be a paid wife. You know that, right? So please, divorce me!”
Alexander held his breath, just listening to Casandra’s words until she was done expressing herself.
Finally, he nodded, “You’re right, there’s nothing wrong with what you said. Cesilia forced this marriage to happen, but I don’t want to let you go.”
“No, this time I’m the one begging to be released, sir. Believe me, I’ll work here until whatever time you decide. I’ll willingly work without a salary, as long as I can pay off any debt, be it debts of gratitude or money. I know my place.”
“Enough!” Alexander raised one hand, unable to bear to hear Casandra speak like that, even though he had said similar things before.
But when the same words came out of Casandra’s mouth, it felt so painful to him. It was as if Casandra was demeaning her position as a husband.
Alexander, still kneeling in front of Casandra, touched the scratch marks on her lips left by Cesilia’s nails.
“I’m sorry. I can’t protect you, but I also can’t fulfill what you want.”
“W-what do you mean, sir?”
Casandra held Alexander’s wrist, which was touching her cheek. She wanted to push him away, but her heart couldn’t bear to see him leave.
“I won’t end this.”
Casandra let out a long sigh. “I know that. I’m still needed so Mama won’t get angry, right? So that you won’t be pressured to have children anymore, and because of me, you can avoid all that. But, I really can’t handle it if things continue like this.” She paused for a moment, her chest feeling heavy.
The accusations Cesilia had made were painful. Especially when it was Cesilia herself who had encouraged…
Alexander silenced Casandra, not wanting her to bring up Cesilia’s words again.
He knew that what Cesilia said was the opposite of what actually happened. So he tenderly kissed Casandra’s lips to stop her from talking.
With that gentle kiss, Casandra’s tears seemed to vanish into thin air. If she could breathe through her skin pores, she might have done it. The soft kisses from Alexander demanded that Casandra open her mouth.
Casandra trembled as she did what Alexander asked. Her eyes widened as he pulled her tongue out with a strong suction. Her hands tightly gripped Alexander’s shoulders, trying to find some relief from the breathlessness caused by their unbroken kiss.
She felt like melting away, especially when Alexander lifted her body, guiding her towards the center of the bed. He then helped her lie down, allowing her to unbutton his shirt without breaking their lip lock.
Casandra’s body tensed even more. The coldness of her skin was brushed by the cool air from the AC, not as cold as the blood flowing in her veins when Alexander slipped his hand under her back, unhooking her bra to expose the two soft mounds that were still covered.
“Why?” Alexander asked, pausing to release Casandra because she seemed to be crawling away like a lost gecko. Her lips were swollen, and the touch on one of her breasts made Casandra even more disoriented.
It was her first experience, so it was understandable that she was scared, especially knowing that Alexander had two other wives, and she was just a newcomer.
“W-what are you doing, sir?”
She hugged herself, not wanting Alexander to see her breasts. Although they were not large, they could still fit in Alexander’s cupped hands. Not full, but they could still be squeezed.
“I want to prove Cesilia’s accusations wrong.” Alexander caressed Casandra’s flushed cheeks. He was pleased to see her nervous and frightened, as it meant she was still innocent as a girl. Just the touch of their lips had made Casandra tense like a college student during a thesis defense.
With that, Alexander’s words put Casandra’s mind at ease. She felt a mix of relief and embarrassment, knowing that Alexander wanted to prove her innocence and protect her from Cesilia’s false accusations. The tension in her body began to ease, and she could relax a little in Alexander’s embrace.
As they continued to explore each other’s feelings and desires, Casandra’s fear subsided, replaced by a sense of intimacy and trust towards Alexander. She realized that he cared for her and wanted to make her feel safe.
With the weight of Cesilia’s accusations lifted, Casandra was finally able to enjoy the moment with Alexander, knowing that he truly valued her and their relationship. It was a night of passion and tenderness, where Casandra felt cherished and loved by her husband.
As they lay entwined in each other’s arms afterward, Casandra felt a deep connection with Alexander, a sense of belonging she hadn’t experienced before. She knew that their journey together would have challenges, but she was ready to face them with courage and the love they shared.
In that moment, Casandra felt grateful for the unexpected twists in her life that led her to Alexander. She was no longer just a pawn in Cesilia’s plans but a person with her own desires, dreams, and love to give. And with Alexander by her side, she knew she could face anything that came their way.
