Time and time again, Alexander hit Frans with a pillow, but the man couldn’t stop laughing. He even had to wipe the tears from the corner of his eyes because he couldn’t contain his laughter.
The story Alexander shared was truly hilarious, and it made Frans forget how to stop laughing.
“I can’t believe you experienced that on your wedding night.” Frans continued to chuckle between his words.
He couldn’t fathom how his friend ended up in such a funny situation last night. It might not have been enjoyable for Alexander, but it was definitely a laugh for Frans to hear about it.
Frans had experienced something similar a few years ago, but since his wife preceded him, he hadn’t encountered such a situation again.
“Don’t laugh at my misery. Your friend is suffering, and you’re laughing. You really have no heart,” Alexander grumbled after delivering his final punch.
He wanted to throw Frans out of the bedroom window, but he didn’t have the energy to do so.
“How can I not laugh? It’s clear as day that the food had something in it. But you let your wife drink two bottles of wine. That’s on you, not on Mama.”
“Of course, it’s Mama’s fault. You didn’t pay attention; I already told you that Mama added the substance without my knowledge.”
“So, both you and Casandra had no idea?”
Alexander nodded quickly. “Absolutely. Neither I nor Casandra knew that there was a substance in the food.”
Frans nodded, finally understanding the real story. It was quite amusing, but seeing Alexander upset made him struggle to contain his laughter.
“Well, you should have known that when Mama said she wanted to prepare a special dinner, it meant there would be a surprise for you and her. Especially since you mentioned that you would give her a grandchild. So, you should have guessed that she would do something like this for both of you. So, are you still up for it? If you are, I won’t give you a sleeping pill, but if not, I’ll give you one so you can rest well after eating, of course.” Frans explained while packing up his medical equipment.
“It’s up to you. All I know is that I want total rest because my mind and body are completely exhausted right now.”
“Cesilia?”
“Who else?” Alexander confirmed that Cesilia was the cause of his exhaustion.
“Oh, right, I didn’t see her. Hasn’t she come home yet?”
“I don’t know. Let alone coming home, I don’t even know when she’ll have time for me. Since she decided to become a brand ambassador for that product, until this moment, I don’t know when we can be together again.”
Frans sat back next to Alexander. “Lang, if I may give you advice, you better try what Mama said.”
“Follow Mama’s words? Don’t be ridiculous, just because Cesilia is busy doesn’t mean I’m ready to have another wife.”
“But the fact is, you already have a wife. You just need to execute it.”
“I can’t betray Cesilia.” Alexander still defended his wife.
“It’s not betraying. Isn’t it Cesilia who gave you to Casandra?” Frans clarified. “If it’s betraying, then you’d be having a relationship with Casandra without Cesilia’s knowledge. But Cesilia gave you a clear chance to be with Casandra, to fulfill Mama’s wish.
Know this, when Mama cursed your relationship, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll find happiness together again in the future. Especially since Cesilia has often broken her promises to Mama. So, there’s no harm in starting a new relationship with Casandra to make Mama happy.
I’m sure that when Mama is happy, there’s a good chance that God will grant you happiness too. Mama only wants a grandchild, right? I think once or twice is enough to give her that grandchild. It’s worth a try while waiting for Cesilia to finish her contract.
Frans bombarded Alexander with words, making sure he couldn’t interrupt, even if it was just for a few words.
“Speaking is easy,” Alexander sat down, a little dizzy but it’s okay. He could still speak seriously.
Here, Alexander would make Frans understand the problem, to address his concerns.
The issue at hand wasn’t just about having a grandchild. In fact, all these problems would only get more complicated if Alexander were to go ahead with it with Casandra.
“Listen to me, open your ears wide. You know, a marriage is a very sacred bond, right? Suppose I do that and Casandra gets pregnant. But automatically, the child born from Casandra’s womb will become mine and Cesilia’s as per the agreement we signed. Because ever since that agreement was signed, all of Cesilia’s obligations are fulfilled immediately. From surgery, treatment, education, to the house promised to her is given right away without any delay. So, when the child is born, Cesilia will take the child and demand that I divorce Casandra immediately. Now, imagine how it feels to be Casandra, separated from her own child and becoming a young widow. Is that fair? Does she deserve all that? Now, think carefully. I’m not doing this not just because I love Cesilia too much, but I also think about Casandra’s future.”
Whether sincere or just an excuse, in Frans’ eyes, Alexander was considering the consequences of making Casandra his legal wife, because it would be Casandra who suffered most.
Frans fell silent, unable to interrupt Alexander’s words again. Because what the man said was the truth. Their conscience would be torn apart, having to separate a mother from her child, turning a young girl into a widow. A status that many women tried to avoid.
“So, what do you think?” Frans asked for Alexander’s opinion a little, as he truly wanted to find a way out for his friend.
Regardless, Alexander deserved to be happy, even if he was a somewhat annoying person.
“I don’t know, I don’t know how long I can endure and avoid the status of being Casandra’s husband. Just pray that I always find reasons to avoid touching her. And also pray that Cesilia melts, willing to have a child soon.” Alexander forced a smile.
Although Alexander’s request was highly unlikely to be granted, since Meri was still sticking to her decision, Cesilia was still being selfish, and Maxime was still full of drama.
“Well, as a friend, I can only listen to your complaints without being able to provide any solutions. Now you eat and take your medicine. I’ll make sure you only wake up tomorrow morning.”
“Thank you,” Alexander said, even though Frans didn’t help much, at least the man was able to lighten the burden that he had been carrying alone.
As Frans left, Casandra came in carrying the juice Alexander ordered, along with dinner.
“I’ll take the juice downstairs, miss. You can bring the rice and soup in, and ask Alexander to finish them. Also, make sure he takes the medicine that I placed on the nightstand,” Frans instructed, taking the avocado juice glass from the tray under Casandra.
Casandra nodded, agreeing to the orders given by Frans. She then sat on the edge of the bed and began to coax Alexander to finish the soup she brought.
In silence, Alexander began to accept each spoonful of soup into his mouth. He resigned himself to accepting the food from Casandra because refusing was futile. Everything the girl did was, of course, on Mama’s orders. And he had just heard Frans clearly asking him to make sure he finished all the food and took the medicine.
