“Aubree! My Aubree!” A familiar male voice rang out above Aubree’s head. He sounded happy and surprised.
Aubree looked up and saw a man looking at her with a playful smile. Next to him stood a full-figured woman.
This was Jacob, Sidney’s best friend. And the woman next to him was probably Jacob’s hundredth girlfriend.
“Ouch, Aubree, what happened to your face? Did you get beaten up?” Jacob took Aubree in one hand, looked her over carefully, and then said worriedly, “Gee, Sidney’s going to have a tantrum again …”
“Brother Jacob, I want to go home … “Aubree was earnest. She knew Jacob wouldn’t turn her down.
“You can go home, but I want to see who bullied you. I’m going to break his legs!” Jacob grabbed Aubree and walked her into the hospital. Although Aubree didn’t want to go back in at all, she couldn’t resist him.
“Hey, get yourself an abortion. Tell the doctor to go easy on my son. Remember…” Jacob was about to say something else to his girlfriend, but then he remembered that Aubree was still there. So he didn’t continue but smiled awkwardly. Then he told his girlfriend to go away with his eyes.
Pippa was sitting alone in the hallway, and Mrs. Elliott felt a little sad as she watched her. After all, she was the daughter-in-law she had taken a fancy to. How could she let her be bullied by anyone randomly?
“Mrs. Elliott, how dare she come!” Pippa saw Aubree from a distance and was furious. If Mrs. Elliott hadn’t been holding her back, she might have had to run up to her and just hit her!
Jacob took Aubree’s hand in his and told her not to be afraid.
“Are you the ones who beat Aubree up like that?” Jacob was raging. He glanced at Pippa, “Oh my, why is her face so swollen? Is it possible that Aubree did this?”
Pippa’s parents were not around. She felt guilty when she saw an adult coming and hid behind Mrs. Elliott, afraid to speak.
“You’re her parent, right? Look at what your children have done to her. And my son is still lying in the hospital bed. It’s all her fault! Now you’re here, give me an explanation!” Mrs. Elliott was getting excited. She had thought that the Elliott family was quite respectable in the city. She didn’t care to bother with a young girl who knew nothing. But since her parents dared to come to her door, she had to settle the matter.
Jacob was shocked by her gesture, and then he snorted. He looked incredulously at Aubree, who was hiding behind him with her head hanging down.
Aubree had always been obedient and sweet. He didn’t expect that she would do that.
He was about to open his mouth when Sidney’s call came, asking where he was.
“I’m at First Hospital.”
Sidney, on the other end of the line, was tired and sleepy, “Have you seen Aubree?”
“Coincidentally, I’m taking her to be scolded. She’s so pitiful now. Her eyes were red with tears, and it broke my heart.”
“Hello? Hello? Hey!” Sidney hung up the phone before Jacob could finish his sentence.
Jacob sighed in frustration, but gloated, “You’re going to be screwed.”
He shrugged his shoulders, “It’s not my fault. Aubree’s uncle has a bad temper. He was on his way over when he heard Aubree was being bullied.”
Mrs. Elliott glared at him, her eyes wider than ever. She was furious, “Who are you saying is being bullied? Whose child is being bullied!”
“You are so unreasonable! Because of her!” Mrs. Elliott pointed to Aubree, “My son has a broken leg. He’s now lying in the hospital bed after an operation. And because of her, Pippa was almost disfigured. She just hit Pippa with something and everyone here has seen it!”
“You’re an adult. It’s fine if you don’t know how to educate your children, but don’t you lead the way in talking black into white!”
Jacob stepped forward, shielding Aubree behind him.
“First, Aubree is weak and vulnerable. She would never take the initiative to bully anyone.” Jacob paused and stared at Pippa. He said in a threatening tone, “Unless someone provoked Aubree beforehand and pissed her off.”
“Secondly, you’re really being unreasonable when you say that your son is in the hospital bed because of Aubree. I also heard about the incident, which started when your son insisted on asking Aubree out to dinner. Your son took the initiative, so why should Aubree have to bear the consequences?”
“Third, since you say education, I’d like to ask you how to teach a son who likes to ask little girls out to dinner.”
Mrs. Elliott was livid when she heard this. She was lost for words and didn’t know how to curse back.
Aubree was even more upset when she heard this. It was true that Hendrix was hurt because he was protecting her. Aubree felt extremely guilty that Sidney could have ransomed Hendrix for her, but he deliberately didn’t.
“Brother Jacob, you have to stop …” Aubree pulled Jacob’s sleeve. She thought it was a bit much for Hendrix to be in a hospital bed, yet they were still bickering about it here.
