He gently touched her hair and said, “If you want to keep those flowers, go ahead.” They both made concessions, finding a fair resolution.
Penelope’s smile brightened even more. “Okay! We’re officially married now.”
Penelope didn’t have any strong feelings and casually put her marriage certificate into her bag. After getting into the car, Warren reached out for the certificate.
“What’s up?” Penelope asked.
“Marriage certificate,” Warren requested.
“Alright.” Penelope reached into her bag and handed it to him. “What are you doing?”
“I’ll keep it safe for you,” he replied.
Penelope fastened her seatbelt and casually mentioned, “It doesn’t matter if I lose it. They can reissue it.” She felt a chilly breeze on her neck and slowly looked up.
Indeed, Warren didn’t seem pleased.
“Happy marriage!” She reacted quickly and rushed to hug him, but the seatbelt prevented her from getting closer.
Feeling embarrassed, Penelope watched as Warren reached out and initiated the hug. “You’re officially a married woman now. Be mindful of your boundaries with other men.”
Penelope was touched by his words. She released his embrace and looked up at him. “And what about you? Will you also be mindful of your boundaries with other women?”
“Of course,” he answered firmly, and Penelope understood she shouldn’t question him on this matter.
“Okay, I’ll be cautious, too,” she said, looking down.
“Especially with your fellow students at college,” he added.
Penelope rolled her eyes and remarked, “They won’t be interested in me. You can relax.”
“Why?” He seemed so sure of her charm, and he couldn’t deny that many guys might find her attractive.
“I’ve told everyone I have a boyfriend. It’s well-known in all the departments, actually, throughout the entire college,” Penelope said confidently.
He paused for a moment and asked, “Do you think no one will try to meddle in after knowing that?”
Penelope felt a bit annoyed but also pleased by his jealousy. She smiled and teased, “Well then, I’ll announce tomorrow that I’m married, and nobody should have any other ideas about me!”
He nodded seriously and replied, “You should stick to your words.”
To commemorate their first day of marriage, Penelope suggested they have a spicy hot pot, the spiciest one.
“Let’s go!” She pulled Warren with all her strength. He didn’t want to argue with her on the street, so he reluctantly followed her into a hot pot restaurant.
“Try to eat less spicy things; it’s not good for your stomach,” he reminded her.
“Alright,” she nodded. Penelope enjoyed the hot pot, but Warren didn’t eat much. She knew he was quite picky about food, so she didn’t force him to eat. After all, he was an adult and wouldn’t starve.
“Come on, cheers!” Penelope raised her glass and smiled.
He raised an eyebrow. “This is our first meal after getting married. Shouldn’t we celebrate?”
She blinked in surprise.
He chuckled, raised his glass, and clinked it with hers in a toast.
“Warren, you’re a great drinker,” Penelope exclaimed, her eyes sparkling. Warren was somewhat speechless. Penelope reached out and placed her hand on his shoulder. “I’ve never had a drink with anyone before. It feels different now. Let’s drink!”
He raised an eyebrow, and Penelope moved closer to him with her wine glass. “I have a secret to tell you…”
As soon as she mentioned it, he picked up the bottle from the side and filled her glass. Penelope applauded, excited because she could finally share a drink with her man.
In the past, her adoptive dad used to enjoy drinking and smoking, but it didn’t really affect her much. She didn’t like to smoke, and she never got drunk on wine. Now that she’s with Warren, who spoils her, she’s willing to try drinking. Warren thought that if Penelope got drunk, she would become more obedient, and they could go home quickly to their son.
However, Penelope turned out to be quite good at handling alcohol. Even after having a lot of wine, she was still wide awake. She grabbed Warren’s arm and smiled, saying, “You think you can make me get drunk? No way!”
Warren whispered in her ear, “We have more good wine at home. Why don’t we go home and have a drink?”
“No, there’s no hot pot when I go home,” she protested, pouting and unwilling to leave.
“I’ll ask Mrs. Brown to prepare some snacks for you. Let’s go home and have a drink,” Warren suggested as he reached out to help her fix her hair.
Penelope rolled her eyes and pointed at him. “You promise, and I want to try the wine you’ve hidden in the wine cellar.” She had already heard from the butler that he had an impressive collection.
“Well, let’s go for a drink,” he agreed. Warren stood up with her and paid the bill. For the first time, he noticed a different side of Penelope when she was drunk. She appeared more mature, sexy, and even a bit playful, which was the opposite of her usual self. He found her new persona very attractive.
Their driver came to pick them up, but to his surprise, both of them were drunk.
“Drive slowly,” Warren told the driver, concerned that Penelope might feel sick.
Penelope kicked off her shoes and lay back on the seat, leaning against him as she gazed out of the window, feeling very happy.
“I want the most expensive one,” she said, turning to him with a smile.
He replied, “Sure,” holding her close.
“You won’t regret it, will you?” she asked playfully.
Warren answered, “No.”
For him, there were more valuable things than expensive wine. Penelope felt secure and closed her eyes, resting against him. By the time they arrived home, it was already ten o’clock. He looked down at her, thinking she was asleep, and planned to take her upstairs for a shower.
Unexpectedly, when the car stopped, she woke up, put on her shoes, and quickly headed towards his wine cellar.
Warren asked, “Can’t we do this tomorrow?”
Penelope responded firmly, “No, we have to do it today!”
Warren nodded and instructed the driver to fetch the two most expensive bottles of wine from his cellar.
Penelope felt ecstatic and playfully hopped onto his back, exclaiming, “You’re amazing!”
