“It’s too hot, and my stomach will be uncomfortable.”
“Pizza?”
“I ate it yesterday.”
Monica took her phone and threw it into her own bag. “If you don’t eat with me today, I’ll throw this into the toilet.”
Penelope, “…”
She had no choice but to surrender.
She would have to remember Warren’s phone number by heart.
“Let’s go, sushi.” Penelope reached out to her shoulders and walked outside. She opened the door and waved to Susan, “See you tomorrow.”
Susan smiled. “See you.”

Half a month later, Warren didn’t come to pick her up. Even Asher, who had been working in Egypt, was back in London. His grandfather was in critical condition.
“How is he?” Penelope asked Asher on the phone.
“Not bad. He can still hang on,” Asher replied, smoking a cigarette and sounding exhausted.
“He is the eldest son of my grandfather. It’s his duty to take care of him. No one can take his place.”
“Taking care of a patient is really challenging. If you’re free, please help him. Don’t make him do it all on his own.”
“I know. Are you okay?”
“Yes, don’t worry about me.” Penelope smiled and said, “I eat a lot every day.”
“If you don’t have enough money, just tell me.”
“Your uncle will take care of us. You don’t need to court me.” Penelope chuckled.
Asher also laughed. “Anyway, just call me if you need anything.”
“Thanks.”
The two chatted a few more words. Then someone over there called Asher, so he hung up. That voice faintly sounded like Warren.
Penelope felt it. She felt it must be his voice.
He had many things to deal with within both the company and the family. She didn’t want to add trouble to him. Thus, she was always waiting for him to find time to call her. He was probably very busy for a couple of days, and he couldn’t find time to call her.
Penelope threw her phone and lay on the sofa, finding it difficult to fall in love.
Ting…
The phone squeaked sharply, and Penelope quickly picked it up. “Hello!”
“Why did you answer so quickly?” Ross asked strangely from the other end.
Penelope shrugged. “The mobile phone is just around me.”
The truth was that she thought the call was from Warren…
“I had something to tell you.”
“Say it.”
“I think it’s better to say it in person.” Ross coughed.
“What were you doing? I didn’t want to see you.”
“You had to come to see me this time,” Ross quickly uttered.
“If you didn’t say it, I would rather hang up.” Penelope frowned.
“We were married.”
Penelope thought she misheard him. “You… were you proposing to me?”
“You wish! I mean, we were still legally married.”
“How could it be?” Penelope thought she had heard a big joke.
“When we went to Las Vegas, we were drunk. Do you still remember?”
“So many times, which one?”
“The last time, you spit all over my shirt,” Ross reminded her.
“Oh…” Penelope suddenly realized. “That time, you deserved it.”
Ross said, “I’m not joking with you now. I am going to sell a property under my name. Now, I’ve found out that I was married, and you are my wife!”
Penelope, “…”
“Are you still listening?”
“Yes…”
“We were married, and we had been married for a year.”
Penelope was muddled.
“I seem to remember we went to a church… We got married at that time?”
That was their last trip together. They had chosen a casino and stayed up late. After she woke up, she remembered going in and out of the church, but she couldn’t remember what she did. Later, she found out Ross had an affair with a colleague from work, so she broke up with him.
Now, it appeared that they had entered the church and taken a vow, establishing a marriage relationship.
Moreover, a year later, they finally found themselves married.
“What should we do?” Ross asked.
Penelope’s lips went numb. “Cancel it….”
“How can we cancel it? We don’t meet the conditions for cancellation.”
The grounds for canceling a marriage are when the people lack understanding or have an erroneous understanding of marriage. After one year, if they claimed they had an erroneous understanding, was it too late?
“Then let’s get a divorce!” Penelope proposed.
Ross said, “Now?”
“Now!” Penelope put down the phone and rushed into the room to get the documents.
She had just confessed the child’s affairs to Warren. Now, she suddenly became a married woman. Who could accept such a girlfriend?
She felt so foolish.
She rushed to the city hall, and Ross was standing there, waiting for her.
“Am I too late to be honest?” Ross asked her guiltily.
“What else do you have to say?” Penelope gritted her teeth and pulled his collar fiercely.
Ross raised his hand. “Sorry, I just lied. We didn’t get married. I lied to get you out because I wanted to tell you that your younger sister is going to marry my dad. Can you stop her?”
Penelope was very angry, not only at Ross but also at her younger sister, Daisy.
“Are you crazy?!”
The people in the city hall came and went, watching a man being beaten by a pregnant woman in the corner.
Half an hour later, Penelope finished her venting. Ross’s eyes were swollen, and he was sore.
“If you can persuade her to change her mind, you can beat me again,” he said.
Penelope swung her arms to move her muscles. “Didn’t you betray me to sleep with her? Why do you want to persuade me now?”
“It was my fault that I mistook her for you. You two look exactly the same,” Ross fretfully squatted on the ground and looked helpless.
Penelope stood against the wall and wrapped her arms around herself. “I didn’t want to mention anything before. I just have a question. How did she meet your dad and decide to marry him?”
“It’s said that they attended the same meeting and fell in love,” Ross sighed. If Daisy marries his father, he has to accept a stepmother who looks the same as his ex-girlfriend for the rest of his life. It’s terrible for him.
What’s worse, the point is that he slept with this stepmother, and his father doesn’t know about it.
Penelope picked up the handbag she had thrown on the floor and said, “I don’t care who she wants to marry. She’s an adult who can take care of herself. I’ll ask her about it, but that’s all I can do.”
Ross stood up. “Can’t you persuade her?”
Penelope patted her bag. “I won’t.” After that, she left, extremely cool.
Ross paused and then shouted, “Are you sisters? How can you be hands-off!”
