Chapter 46: Are You Angry?

Book:A Night With The Billionaire Published:2024-6-4

Penelope had a stomach ache in the middle of the night. In the beginning, she felt a dull pain, and later, she wanted to go to the bathroom.
She got up and went to the toilet. She found that her underwear was stained with traces of blood. She was immediately scared awake.
Warren had only just laid down for a moment when he heard a voice outside his room.
He opened the door and found Penelope standing there, her face pale. She said unsteadily, “I have a stomach ache… and there’s some bleeding. What should I do?”
Her words alarmed him, and he rushed to her side, placing his hands gently on her waist. Nervously, he asked, “Let’s go to the hospital. Can you walk?”
Penelope shook her head, her eyes welling up with tears. “My legs are weak. I’m afraid…”
Without hesitation, he scooped her up into his arms, comforting her as he walked. “Don’t be afraid. It’s going to be okay. Remember last time? Everything turned out fine. This time will be no different.”
Penelope lay in his arms, and despite the rare event, her thoughts were only focused on the baby inside her. She clung to her child with all her heart.
“He’s been in my stomach for five months. If anything happens to him, I don’t want to live anymore…” Penelope’s tearful eyes met his.
“Please, don’t say anything like that. Everything will be alright!”
But her tears flowed unchecked, and his words of comfort seemed to fall on deaf ears. She was consumed by the fear of losing her child.
The driver, ready to go, started the car and waited for them.
Warren sat in the backseat with Penelope, his hand slipping behind her, and when he pulled it back, he found it was stained with blood.
Penelope noticed it, too, her hand trembling as she touched her lower body, feeling the stickiness. Blood. A lot of it.
She gasped in terror, her eyes widening. Then, as if an invisible hand had clamped around her neck, she suddenly couldn’t breathe.
“Penelope! Penelope!”
Warren’s voice reached her ears, but it sounded distant and muffled. All she could see were his moving lips and his eyes wide with horror. Panic surged through her, her throat constricting, her breaths coming in desperate, ragged gasps.
Warren quickly handed her a paper bag to help her breathe properly. Penelope took it and began to inhale and exhale deeply, trying to calm her breath.
“Please don’t scare me, don’t scare me…”
Warren held her close, his arms wrapped protectively around her trembling form. He pressed a reassuring hand against her chest and gently stroked her hair, trying to offer comfort to both her and himself.
“The baby won’t leave. He won’t,” Warren repeated, his fingers tenderly brushing against her cheeks. He lowered his head and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead. “Don’t worry. I’m here.”
Penelope leaned against him, her eyes swollen and weary. She repeated the mantra in her mind a hundred times, trying to calm her racing heart, but the sight of blood stains had shaken her deeply.
She couldn’t help but cry out.
Warren was sad for her. He couldn’t help but gently kiss her hair.
When she arrived at the hospital, the doctor took off her pants and checked.
He asked Warren to leave for a moment. Warren stepped to her bedside, held her hand, and said, “It doesn’t matter. I can’t see it.”
Faced with such thoughtfulness, she managed a faint smile, not as bright as before.
The doctor looked at the report and said, “There is no serious problem, but your progesterone is too low, and you need to stay in bed for a week.”
“Is it really okay? I lost a lot of blood…” Penelope asked worriedly.
The doctor smiled and said, “Don’t eat spicy food anymore.”
Penelope didn’t understand. The doctor glanced at her, then leaned down to her ear, causing her face to turn red.
Warren coughed, sensing what might be going on.
Penelope pulled a pillow from behind her and covered her face with it in embarrassment.
As it turned out, she had actually come to the emergency room for hemorrhoids!
“But this time, I discovered that your progesterone is decreasing. This is not a good thing. If progesterone is too low, the possibility of miscarriage is very high, so pay attention.”
Penelope’s face immediately turned pale, and her fingers gripped the sheets tightly.
Warren glanced at the doctor, who immediately raised his hand and said, “It’s not that I’m exaggerating. Though the probability of this kind of thing is low, it’s always possible. I’m a doctor, and I have to make it clear.”
A loud noise came from outside the room. Asher stood in the doorway nervously, wearing a black coat and slippers.
“What happened to you? Is everything alright?” Asher rushed over to her bed and asked worriedly.
“Nothing serious.” Penelope shook her head.
Asher glanced at her and said, “Why does your expression look so terrible?”
The doctor kindly explained the reason to him.
Warren turned back and left.
“So, are you the baby’s father?” The doctor adjusted his glasses.
“Yes, I am.”
“Then you’re very lucky. Your uncle is so nice to help you run errands. I’ve never seen you in Penelope’s prenatal examinations.”
“I was abroad. I didn’t come back until a few days ago,” Asher replied, feeling that the doctor was meddling too much.
“Oh, that’s fine. Her two emergencies have been handled by your uncle. He’s a really nice man.”
“Why do you meddle so much? Please leave after the inspection,” Asher said, a little irritated.
“I’m just asking casually. Are you angry?” The doctor asked with a smile.
Asher retorted, “What’s your name?” Is ‘Gossip’ your name?”
The doctor chuckled, “What’s your name? Is ‘Lucky’ really your name?”
As the two bantered with each other, Penelope couldn’t help but interrupt. “You two go out and leave me alone!”
The doctor smiled and left with the medical record.
Asher sat in front of her bed and asked, “How do you feel now?”
“Not bad.”
Asher quickly asked, “Why didn’t you just knock on my door?”
She was in a hurry, thinking only of the fastest way to solve the problem. She simply forgot that he had returned.
Penelope glanced at him sideways and said, “I’m sorry to have disrupted your plans…”
Asher shook his head, held her hand, and said, “I just want you to know that we are best friends. You can come to me for anything at any time.”
“Thank you.”
