The team doctor came with his medical bag. He examined her nose and said, “The bridge of the nose is not broken. It’s okay. I still recommend you to go to the hospital. It will be better to apply for some medicine.”
Warren nodded. His invisible bodyguard appeared at this time with Warren’s jacket and Penelope’s bag.
“Wait, you shot the ball?” Penelope covered her nose with one hand, pointing to that player with the other. She looked scared with tissues soaked in blood.
“I did it. I’m sorry. I overlooked the situation on the sidelines.” He spun it too hard, and it accidentally flew astray. He’s very sorry.
Penelope gave him a thumb up, and she smiled with a distorted face as if grinning hideously. “I have been very bullish on you. Not bad.”
The player was speechless.
He glanced at Warren next to him worriedly, “Is she really okay?”
“She’s fine.”
“Then…” Before he could say something, Warren helped her with one hand, walked through the crowd, and left the stadium.
“Ah, the blood is getting in my mouth…” She whispered, feeling a bit of pain.
“Watching a game can be dangerous. You are really wonderful.” He assisted her in getting in the car and helped her put on the seat belt.
“There is always somebody who will get hit, either me or others. This is not something we can control.” Penelope was magnanimous, and she didn’t seem to mind being hit at all.
“Don’t talk anymore.” He looked at her bloody nose and stopped her.
Penelope tilted her head, saying, “Please slow down. I feel a little dizzy.”
“Is this a concussion?” He glanced at her.
Penelope blinked twice. “I can’t shake my head. I’m dizzy.”
“You are already stupid. Now it’s even worse.”
They arrive at the hospital. The doctor took away the tissue she stuffed in her nostrils and looked at it. The doctor thoroughly checked her nose, “The first-aid measures are rapid and effective. No serious problems. The nose bones are not broken, and there is probably no congestion inside.”
After a few minutes, the doctor took off his gloves and said, “I’ll give you some external medicine. You can apply it every day.”
The nurse hastily cleaned the blood on her face with a cotton swab.
“Ouch…” Penelope felt a burning pain from the bridge of her nose. She reached out her hand and was about to touch her nose.
Warren stopped her immediately.
“There are bacteria on your hands, don’t touch them.”
“You’re lucky. It’s only got bruised on your nose. I used to see a patient who broke the bridge of their nose.” The doctor gently said while a faint smile appeared on his face.
“Doctor, please don’t comfort me with the most extreme example.” Penelope grinned back.
The doctor laughed even more and put away the tools. “Let your boyfriend fetch the medicine, and then you both leave after that.”
“He is not my boyfriend.” Penelope wrinkled her nose unconsciously, feeling painful.
Warren ignored her answer and asked the doctor, “She is pregnant now. Can she use this medicine?”
“Pregnant?” The doctor is surprised and can’t help but look at her stomach. “Two months? I can’t see it at all.”
“Three months and two weeks.” Penelope corrected him.
The doctor was amazed, “You keep your shape well.”
Penelope burst into a light giggle.
The doctor glanced at Warren, “This medicine does no harm to pregnant women. You can rest assured.”
After the check-up, the bodyguard paid the fee and got the medicine. Penelope said goodbye to the doctor, and they seemed to be distressed at parting ways.
“This doctor is so funny.” Penelope couldn’t help laughing when they got inside the car.
With a laugh, the bridge of her nose was pulled, and she groaned again.
The bodyguard drove, and they sat in the back. “Oh, where is Miss. Foster?” Penelope suddenly remembers that they were three people just now.
“She was sent home.”
“Oh.”
After a while, she yelled again and asked to stop.
Warren weirdly glanced at her. Penelope embarrassedly smiled and pointed to the Subway with green lights on the side of the road. She said, “I’m hungry. I want to buy a sandwich.”
Warren couldn’t believe what he heard and went silent.
“There was just a bit of blood loss, umm… kinda affecting my mood,” She scratched her head and reasoned out.
After the accident that day, Penelope became calm. Every day she studied gardening with the butler and learned to cook from Mrs. Brown. Her life was not too dull.
However, it is her nose injury that caused her to avoid certain foods. Mrs. Brown supervised her. She has no access to the snacks.
Warren was still very busy. Penelope seldom saw him. She could only hear the sound of his car and him walking through the house late at night.
She’d reached the point in her pregnancy where she was often sleepy. She started sleeping earlier and getting up late.
It is a fine day today. After lunch, Penelope went upstairs and took a break.
She opened the curtains to let the sun shine onto the bed. She lay on the bed comfortably and enjoyed her siesta time.
After an hour or so, she heard movement downstairs.
Penelope struggled but failed to get up. She knew she was in a dream, but she couldn’t wake up.
“Ah…” she screamed and sat up.
She felt a terrible headache, probably because of being chilled by the wind.
She patted her head and looked at the window with a little sewing. Sure enough, she forgot to close the window.
Ross was lying on the tatami beside the window and was still asleep.
She got dressed and walked downstairs. She wondered why Warren would come back at this time.
Penelope didn’t see him, but she saw Katherine, who was chatting with Mrs. Brown. She stood there in a beige dress, and her long, smooth hair was over her shoulder, which made her look beautiful and charming.
“Hi!” Katherine greeted her as soon as she noticed her.
Penelope waved cheerfully, “Hello.”
