David was sitting in his office when Jordan entered with a sombre expression on his face.
” Did you get something from her?” He asked and Jordan regretfully shook his head.
” We didn’t find anything helpful to find Madam. She is saying crazy things. They don’t make sense at all.” Jordan replied.
David closed his eyes, leaned on his chair and let out a tired sigh.
It’s been eight months and he has been looking for Sheila everywhere yet he hasn’t been able to find her. It’s like she vanished into thin air.
” Jordan, tell me , do you think my wife will come back to me?” David asked and Jordan pressed his lips together. He didn’t know what to say to his president.
Ever since the Madam left, he has watched his president turn into a shell of his former self.
She left without saying a word. According to the president, there were no issues between the two of them.
They have exhausted all means Just to find her but nothing seems to work.
” Everyday, I don’t Know what to tell my daughter when she asks about her mother and brother. I can only lie to her. The time for her surgery is fast approaching and I haven’t been able to find a donor for her.
I have lost my wife and child, do I have to lose my daughter too?” David asked no one in particular as a tear slid past his cheeks.
” Mr president, you can’t think like this. We will find her.” Jordan assured him but David shook his head.
” Find her? How can we find her when she doesn’t want to be found?” David asked.
” You don’t know about that. Maybe she was kidnapped by someone and is fighting to come back to you. I know Madam is kind, she will never leave you to be miserable. Not to mention her love for Lily. You can’t lose Hope now, president.” Jordan advised.
When the news of the madam’s disappearance reached him, he had tried wracking his brains to find out why she would leave.
After watching the CCTV outside the house and asking the gateman, one thing was for sure. She was devastated when she left. Something must have happened to her but everytime he tries asking the president about what transpired between them, he always gets one answer; he left her sleeping in their room only to come back and find her gone.
She didn’t take away anything when she left, not even her phone.
The necklace with a tracking device that he gave her was left laying on the streets.
It is a miracle how he has been able to hide his broken heart from the public eye.
” You are right, She didn’t leave me. I don’t know what happened to her but I have to find her.” David murmured.
” President, I think something must have happened to her Inside the mansion. Is there something that you said or did that could have broken her trust in you?” Jordan pressed.
The madam was such a sensible person, she would never leave unless someone hurt her deeply. That was the only explanation he could come up with.
” She was asleep when I left to discuss something with my grandmother.” David revealed.
” Discuss something? Did it have anything to do with the Madam?” Jordan inquired.
David was about to shake his head in denial when he remembered something.
He paused before his eyes widened.
Could it be that…
No! That’s impossible.
” What did you remember?” Jordan asked eagerly. Only by figuring out the reason she left could they Know where to look for her.
” That day, grandmother came to persuade me to not pursue Laura and report her to the police instead.” David recounted.
” And?”
” I told her that not only did I want Revenge for the death of Sandra but also for my wife’s parents who died that night.” He added. Only then did realisation hit him.
” Could she have…?” David asked and Jordan nodded.
” The Madam should have overheard your conversation and left the house in a fit of rage. But why she disappeared without a trace is still a mystery to me.” Jordan reasoned.
” If my guess is right, she must have been kidnapped or someone found her and took her away.” He added.
” But who would do that? Her friends all have no idea where she is. ” David spoke.
” Laura keeps saying that she was carried away by a man.” Jordan spoke.
” She was originally looking for Sheila to kidnap her,” he announced ” She keeps mumbling that she was too late and the Madam was taken away by someone else.” Jordan said.
” Then it must have been someone who Laura didn’t see. But it can’t be someone close to us. If they were, we would have known by now.” David reasoned.
” There is another possibility.” Jordan stated.
” Which is?”
” The Madam might have left voluntarily. What if she doesn’t want to be with you anymore?” Jordan said, a sad expression on his face.
” What are you saying? Weren’t you the one who Said she isn’t that narrow-minded?” David reprimanded Jordan who immediately bowed his head low in Shame.
He didn’t intend to say that aloud but the words just escaped his mouth involuntarily .
He also didn’t want to think that way but it was only right to consider all possibilities.
” Get lost.” David ordered and Jordan scrambled away. He was afraid that staying longer would have his head chopped off by David who seemed to be losing it from missing his wife.
Looking at his ring finger where the sign of his love for Sheila laid, he could not help but caress it.
” Where are you my love? Why did you leave me all alone here? I don’t know what to do anymore and I feel like I’ll lose my mind if I don’t find you. I don’t know what to tell our daughter anymore. She won’t stop asking about you. Please, just come back to us. If you are mad at me, I’ll do everything to earn your forgiveness.” He whispered longingly.
When he arrived at the mansion, Aunt Meng was there to welcome him.
She gave him a sympathetic look when she saw the dark circles under his eyes.
” Young Master, you have been skipping your meals and your health is important at this point. Why don’t you sit down, I’ll serve dinner to you.” Aunt Meng said but David shook his head.
” I’m full. Did Lily take her medicine?”
Aunt Meng shook her head .
” The Young Miss has been crying all day asking for the young Madam.” Aunt Meng replied. David’s heart clenched painfully. His daughter was so attached to her mother that the past eight months have been a nightmare to her.
” I see. Prepare the medicine, I’ll be in her room.” David instructed before walking upstairs.
He knocked slightly on Lily’s door before pushing the door open.
She was sitting on her bed crying her eyes out. David immediately rushed towards her and picked her up in his arms.
She immediately wrapped her tiny arms around him and started sobbing in his arms.
” Daddy, where is Mommy? Doesn’t she want us anymore? Did she leave because she got tired of taking care of me? Can you ask her to come back, I’ll not trouble her, I’ll take care of myself. Just ask her to come home please.” Lily said amidst her hiccups. David hugged her even tighter and let the tears escape from his eyes.
” Mommy will be here soon, she just had something to do first. Don’t cry, everything will be alright.” He coerced.
” Mommy just has work to do and will come back. Don’t ever think that she abandoned us. She loves us so much dear.” David cooed in her ears as he tried to pacify her.
” Then why isn’t she here?” Lily asked and David was at a loss for words. How could he tell her that her mom left them all because of him?
How can he break his daughter’s heart knowing that he is the one responsible for her mother’s absence.
” She loves us very much. Don’t worry, she’ll come back.” That’s all he could say.
It hurt him seeing his daughter in pain. It broke his heart all over again.
Aunt Meng entered the room and passed Lily’s medicine to David.
Taking the meds, he offered to feed them to his daughter.
” Be a good girl and take your medicine so that when your mother comes back, you two can finally go out to play .” He said in an attempt to make Lily take her medicine.
” I miss Mommy.”
David caressed Lily’s face lovingly before giving her another squeeze.
” Mommy is going to come home soon and then we can play all we want.”
Lily took her medicine and fell asleep almost immediately. David left after tucking her to bed.
The next morning when David arrived at his office, Jordan was waiting for him with a folder in his hand.
” What do you want?” David asked in annoyance. He didn’t like being disturbed when he was busy with his thoughts of Sheila.
” An email. They send an email.”
