A month passed and Sheila finally resumed work. Lily was doing fine but due to health reasons, she could not go back to school. However, as promised, her mother got her the best tutor and she was being home schooled. Although it was not as fun as going to school, she still was happy since Sunny would visit her from time to time.
David on the other hand continued with his search for Gabriel’s sister. Everytime, his private investigator would meet a dead end and come back empty-handed. After so many years had passed, it was hard to find a missing person. Nevertheless, he did not stop looking, especially after Gabriel presented his end of the deal.
Turns out that Laura was the mastermind behind the accident that killed both Sheila’s parents and his late wife.
He knew that she was always in Love with him, but he never expected her to go to such great lengths to get him.
Orchestrating an accident and killing Sandra then running abroad, did she really think she could get away with it?
But who threatened his grandma? Could Mr Anderson be involved? Well he will have to find out for himself.
David was deep in thought when his assistant rushed to his office without knocking. He was panting hard and had a panicked expression on his face.
” What’s the matter?” David asked, alarmed.
” The young Mistress fainted.” Jordan reported in one breath.
Without waiting to hear another word from him, David rushed out of his room into Sheila’s office. His heart was beating erratically, threatening to pop out of his chest.
What could have happened to her? She was just fine when they came to work? Those were the questions flowing in his mind as he made his way to the office.
Pushing the door open, he found Sheila laying on the floor, passed out as her assistant fanned her.
Taking two strides, he covered the distance and was soon standing before her. David kneeled down before picking her in his arms.
” Darling, wake up!” He said, patting her cheeks. His voice held a hint of fear in it.
” President, we should take her to the hospital.” Jordan suggested. Seeing his president so panicked that he wasn’t thinking straight, he could only be the rational one.
As if woken up from a trance, David picked Sheila up and carried her away princess style.
All the employees were shocked to see the president carrying the finance manager with so much.
They had noticed the unusual closeness between the two and also heard rumours that the president remarried. But they dared not gossip about it.
Jordan had already prepared the car by the time David arrived at the entrance with Sheila in his arms. They set off immediately and the two were settled in the car.
Ten minutes later, Jordan pulled up at the entrance of a hospital. He was as panicked as David and only drove to the hospital near the company. Thankfully, it was the same hospital where John, David’s best friend, worked.
David carried Sheila to the emergency room where doctors rushed to attend to her.
John, who had heard from a colleague about the presence of president Brown at the hospital, came over.
He was actually worried that it was Lily who was rushed to the hospital. Worried about her condition, he came as soon as possible.
When he saw David pacing outside the emergency room, he was more convinced that something indeed did happen to Lily.
” What happened? I thought Lily was doing fine, why is she here?” John asked David who Just glanced at him and ignored him totally.
John, who was ignored like he didn’t even exist, gritted his teeth.
Damn you David! How dare you ignore me? He cursed Inwardly but dared not say a word.
He could see that David was not in his right mind. He could only turn to look at Jordan who was standing outside the room as well.
” It’s not the little miss in there.” Jordan answered curtly. He, too, was worried about Sheila.
” It’s not Lily? Then who is it?” John asked with a frown.
” The young Madam fainted at work and we rushed her to the hospital.” Jordan clarified.
” What? Sister-in-law fainted?” John asked in a high voice. Jordan nodded.
” Idiot! Why are you telling me this now?” John scolded before pushing the door open and strode to the room.
Jordan who was scolded for nothing frowned.
Wasn’t he the one who thought that it was the young miss in there? Then how did it become his fault again for not saying it was sheila?
Shaking his head, he decided to not think about it. Afterall, doctor John has always been incomprehensible.
Fifteen minutes later, the nurses, the attending doctor together with doctor John exited the room.
David, who was still pacing outside, rushed to them.
” What’s wrong with my wife?” He asked, anxiously and the doctor smiled at him.
” Congratulations president Brown.” He said. Before David came out of his momentary shock, all the nurses bowed before congratulating him.
They then left without another word.
Left behind was doctor John who was grinning like a Cheshire cat.
David turned to look at John and wondered whether the doctors in this hospital had gone crazy.
” What’s happening?” David asked, puzzled at the reactions he was getting from everyone. Turning to look at Jordan, the man was also smiling.
Clueless as to why everyone was congratulating him instead of telling him the condition of his wife, he walked past John and pushed the door open.
On the bed, Sheila sat leaning on the headboard. She was also smiling.
David paused before shaking his head and continued his walk to his wife. It didn’t matter if everybody got crazy, at least his wife was fine.
He leaned down, pulling Sheila into a bone crushing hug.
He was happy and relieved.
Sheila, who was hugged so tightly that she could not breathe, struggled to push the man away but her efforts were all in vain.
The man’s iron grip was hard to get rid of.
” Ummm… hubby, can you let me go? You are squashing me.” She opted to use words to make him understand that he was suffocating her.
” I’m sorry,” David apologised, releasing her from his hold.
He then sat beside her before taking her hands in his.
” How are you feeling? You scared me.” David asked. He could not forget the fear that gripped him when he saw her lying on the floor unconscious.
That sight made him remember the accident three years ago when he lost Sandra. He watched her take her last breath, unable to do anything to help her.
He could not help but tremble all over again. Losing Sandra was hard but if he lost Sheila, he would die.
” I’m fine, don’t worry.” Sheila replied, her slender fingers caressing his cheeks.
David leaned into her touch, liking it.
” I’m glad you are fine. Everybody here seems to be crazy. They won’t tell me what’s wrong with you. I think we should head to another hospital to have you tested. I won’t rest unless I know that you are fine.” David said, making Sheila smile.
John who was standing beside him coughed lightly, earning a glare from David.
” Thanks doctor John for taking care of me.” Sheila said, looking straight into John’s face who smiled back at her.
” It’s okay Sister-in-law. Now, you have to be careful. Take care of yourself and the baby.” John said.
David was about to shoo John away when he caught something unusual in his statement.
” What baby?”
