Nancy walked to her room angrily making sure nobody was within the vicinity before making a call.
Of all outcomes she expected, having old madam Brown acknowledge Sheila and Invite her to the house was not one of them.
She was no fool to not realise what was happening.
Despite Sheila’s poor background, she must have been satisfied with her and that was something she was unwilling to accept.
Removing her phone, she made a phone call.
” You better have something important to report otherwise I’ll kill you with my bare hands!” Laura’s voice spoke from the other side of the phone.
She was obviously pissed that someone dared to disturb her beauty sleep.
” I don’t think you should be sleeping comfortably when another woman continues to sink her claws to your man.” Annoyed by Laura’s bossy attitude, Nancy taunted.
She could not stand how arrogant Laura was, especially when she spoke to her like she was ordering her maid.
‘ Just so you wait. When I finally become Mrs Brown, I will make you regret treating me like trash.’ she said inwardly.
” What do you mean by that?” Laura was displeased that her little informant was beating around the bush other than going straight to the point.
” The old lady was here and she seemed satisfied with David’s girlfriend.” Nancy informed.
She was sure that those news were enough to have Laura awake for days.
She snickered thinking of that.
” How’s that possible?” Laura mumbled to herself, making Nancy roll her eyes at her.
If she knew the answer to that, why would she be beating herself wondering what kind of juju did Sheila use on that old witch.
Without another word, Laura immediately cut the call before directly calling her father’s number.
” I warned you to take action against that bitch, now look, Grandma Brown already approves of her!” Laura went straight to complaining without even saying hi to her father.
” Is that how I trained you to talk to your father?” Mr Anderson sounded angry with her daughter’s blatant disrespect.
” Father, I am losing the Man I love, do you think I have time to be civil with you?” Laura replied in a high tone.
” Since you don’t Know how to be civil with me, why don’t you figure out a way to take him back yourself.” The man replied, disconnecting the call and directing all other calls to voicemail.
He was tired of his daughter’s rude behaviour and stupid obsession over a man.
To him, his daughter deserved better and David was far from better in his eyes.
It didn’t matter that the man did not love his daughter back, it was okay because he believed that Love can be cultivated but seeing his daughter lose her mind over a single father and a window, he got enraged.
Having sheltered Laura since she was young, he believed that it was about time she learned about the bitterness of reality.
Laura veins popped one after the other and his heart raced like an overspeeding racer bike due to anger.
She could not believe that her father dared to hang up on her.
” Very well old geezer, it’s not like you are any useful to me anymore. You can go to hell for all I care!” She cursed.
” I can’t allow that bitch to be with David! Not when I have sacrificed too much to be with him. David is mine and mine alone.” She declared possessively.
With that resolution in mind, she took a shower and headed out.
She would make that old witch realise that she was the better option for David’s wife and not that poor bitch who crawled out of dumpsters.
Twenty minutes later, Laura drove her car to the Brown family house.
After parking, she straightened her clothes and took the gifts she bought along the way.
Passing out as a gentle and a well mannered lady, she made her way to the house.
She was allowed in after announcing her purpose of visit.
Old Madam Brown was having breakfast when Laura arrived.
She was pleased to see her and even rose to her feet to greet Laura.
” Grandmother, I just returned from abroad and decided to come visit you.” She explained passing the gifts to the old lady.
” I got you something, it’s not much but I hope Grandma will like it.” She added shyly.
” What a thoughtful child you are Laura, you did not have to get me anything!” The old lady replied with a smile.
” What are you saying grandmother, it’s been three years since I last visited you. I missed you so much.”
In Front of the old lady, Laura was the prim and proper lady every man would love to take home as a wife.
She could not tell why Alicia and David detested the lady.
The two ate breakfast together, took a walk around the garden and even chatted about anything and everything.
The two were seated in the gazebo having afternoon tea when Laura decided to approach the main reason she visited.
” It’s been three years now, how is David and Lily? I left without saying goodbye.” Her voice held a tinge of remorse making old Madam Brown like her even more.
She was such a thoughtful young lady who cared about relationships and most importantly, she cared about Lily and David.
Too bad, David didn’t seem to appreciate her and already found someone he loved.
The old lady sighed.
” I know how you feel about my grandson and I appreciate that you love him but Laura dear, David already found a woman whom he loves. He was broken when Sandra died and his life is finally taking the right track. I don’t want to sound cruel but you should give up already. Find someone who is going to love you and appreciate you for whoever you are. David is not that someone, sadly.”
It was sad to tell Laura those words but she had to. She liked Laura for David but David did not like Laura.
She was just a grandmother with no say about who David marries.
” Don’t worry, I understand. As long as David and Lily are happy, I am happy too.” Laura suppressed her hatred and displeasure and replied gently.
Her plan was to put ideas to the old lady’s mind about how unsuitable that Sheila bitch was for David but it seems like the old geezer had already made up her mind.
Hearing her words, old madam could only smile bitterly. Laura was such a sweet child, it was a pity she could not become her granddaughter in-law.
Laura did not stick around for long after her mission failed.
After bidding old Madam Brown goodbye, she drove away.
Looking at the car leaving the mansion, the old lady could not help but lament.
” Such a good child, I hope she finds happiness.” She said only going back after the car finally disappeared from her sight.
Driving away, Laura decided to call her father. Since warming her way to the family did not work, her father could help her.
After the third ring, her father finally answered.
” Did you finally learn to be respectful to your father?” Mr Anderson asked immediately as the call went through.
” I’m sorry father for my manners in the morning.” Laura’s voice sounded respectful but she was currently rolling her eyes.
If she didn’t need her father’s help, she would never have called him after how he treated her in the morning.
” Let me guess, the old Madam refused to help you persuade David to marry you?” Mr Anderson asked.
” How did you know?” Laura could not help but ask.
” Are you keeping tabs on me?” She questioned angrily, her voice raised.
” You don’t get to raise your voice on me young lady and yes, if I don’t keep an eye on you, who knows what kind of trouble you’ll land yourself into?” His voice was stern as he reprimanded Laura.
” Calling you was a mistake.” Laura grumbled.
” Calling me isn’t the only mistake you made, young lady. Now since you went against my orders and came back without my permission, you’ll drive back here and stay under house arrest until I seem fit to let you free.” The Man commanded.
” You are not doing such a thing!” Laura’s voice was filled with disbelief.
” Watch me!” Mr Anderson challenged.
