” I will let that slide because I am eager to hear what you have to say.” Vee countered with clapping her hands excitedly.
Sheila could only shake her head at her friend’s enthusiasm when it came to listening to gossip.
” It’s official.” Sheila announced with a smile. Just the thought of how David kissed her passionately had her face turning a shade redder.
” Huh? What do you mean?” Vee asked, confusion marred on her beautiful face.
” David confessed. He loves me and I said yes to becoming his girlfriend.” Sheila explained, a shy smile adjourning her pink lips.
” Wait a minute, I thought the two of you were already a couple?” Vee asked, her brows creased.
From what she told her the last time, the two were already a thing.
” He tricked me into that relationship in the first place after I got drunk. This time though, we both confessed to each other.” Sheila explained shyly.
” I am so happy for you, girlfriend. You deserve all the happiness in the world after everything that life has taken from you.” Vee said, her hands clasping Sheila’s own.
Her friend had had it hard in life, she was happy that at last she got her happy ending.
” It’s your turn to confess.” Sheila said, poking Vanessa’s cheek with her finger.
Vee glared at her for treating her like a child making Sheila chuckle.
” I finally found the one for me.” Vee announced to only have Sheila look at her with a ‘ I don’t believe you’ expression on her face.
” You don’t believe what I am saying?” Vee asked, obviously sad that her friend wasn’t buying her story but she knew she couldn’t blame her. Afterall, her past reputation would not allow someone to believe that of her.
” It’s not like I don’t believe you Vee, it’s just that…”
” That was me in the past Sheila. I want to settle down and have a family. I have come to realise while I think I’m having my revenge on men by fooling around, I am destroying myself in the process.” Vee explained.
Sheila could see the seriousness in her friend’s face. She could not understand what made her friend change her mind.
What could have happened in the two weeks she left for abroad that brought such a tremendous change to Vee’s life.
Sheila could not be any happier that her friend finally decided to settle.
After that incident years ago, Vee abhorred the Idea of settling down or even having a stable relationship.
Sheila never called her out for her behaviour because she had seen how broken her friend was.
That did not mean that she wasn’t worried about Vee, she was.
” What made you change your mind?” Sheila asked out of sheer curiosity.
” I met someone special. Someone who did not take advantage of me even in my vulnerable state. Instead, he took care of me and ensured that I was safe. He understood me and did not judge me. Like me, he was also betrayed so we shared the same predicament.” Vee answered.
She could still remember how for the first time she broke down in front of that stranger, saying out the words she had blocked in her heart. He listened to her and stayed with her throughout the night. Despite being drunk and vulnerable, She was surprised when she woke up in her room, untouched.
Vee knew that such men were rare. She went to thank him and that’s how they became close in her short stay in country B.
” Are you sure this is it? You won’t fall back to your old ways again? I honestly never liked it.” Sheila confessed.
” And yet you stayed with me, keeping me away from assholes and protecting me.” Vee chimed in.
Sheila would accompany her or secretly follow her to make sure she was fine.
Vee could not count the number of times her best friend kicked men’s asses to save her own and for that she was very grateful.
” This is it for me Sheila. I owe that to myself.” She replied and Sheila moved to hug her.
” I am so happy to hear that Vee. You don’t Know how relieved I am. I should probably meet that lucky man and thank him for rescuing your soul.” Sheila said honestly.
” He said he would visit me here, I am looking forward to seeing him again.” Vee said with a sweet smile.
Even a fool could see that she was happy.
The friends chatted for a while before parting ways to their respective houses.
Sheila arrived home in a good mood.
She offered to help the maids to prepare supper. Under the Instruction of Aunty Meng, supper was ready in no time.
” Young Miss seems very happy today. I can see that you patched things up with Young master.” The old woman said with a smile and Sheila nodded.
Aunty Meng had been the one who accepted and treated her better when other maids had their prejudices over her.
She welcomed her to the house and took care of her. To Sheila, the woman was close to a mother figure.
” Tell me aunty, what good does David like most?” Sheila asked.
The old lady smiled with a knowing smile.
” You want to cook for a young master?” She asked and Sheila nodded.
” If it’s okay with you.” Sheila added. The kitchen was under aunty Meng and she did not want to interfere with other people’s areas of work.
” Of Course it’s fine. You are soon going to be the mistress of this house so feel free to do anything you want around here. Of Course if you want to win Young master’s heart, I’ll gladly help you.” The old woman said.
Sheila blushed at her words.
” It’s not that, I just want to do something for him after all the help he has given me.”Sheila responded in a low voice.
Aunty Meng’s words made her feel embarrassed. She didn’t want others to think that she was eager to please David.
“You don’t need to be shy with me here Young miss. A woman should ensure that her Man has eyes only for her. You are Young and inexperienced so this old lady will teach you how to keep your man wrapped around your finger.” The old lady said with a smile making Sheila even blush more.
” You don’t have to bother Aunt, she already has me wrapped around her small finger.” David’s voice was heard as he sauntered to the kitchen.
He wrapped his arms around before kissing her cheeks making Sheila blush even more.
” How was your day?” He asked, his lips trailing to her collarbones
He missed his woman a lot while at work. He had to fight against himself from leaving the office to accompany her wherever she was.
” It was good and yours?” Although embarrassed from his PDA, Sheila still found it in herself to reply.
” Terrible, I missed you alot.” David confessed making aunty Meng to chuckle.
” This old hag is still here, children. Please mind your actions.” She reminded them with a giggle.
” That’s why I am looking for a husband for you, Aunty.” David joked, earning a glare from the old lady.
” I am old, nobody would want me.” She replied.
” Old and still beautiful aunty. Alot of men would die to have you in their arms.” David said in all seriousness.
” No need, I just want to stay with you and help you take care of my grandchildren, so young master, give me a job soon.” The lady said, eyeing Sheila meaningfully making Sheila’s already red cheeks burn red like a tomato.
Dinner was set and Lily joined her father and beautiful sister. After dinner, Sheila helped Lily take a bath before reading her a story.
After she made sure the little girl was asleep and well tucked in, she made her way to her bedroom.
Sheila had just entered the house when she was pulled in a warm embrace before her lips were claimed in a hurried kiss.
The sweet cologne of David hit her nostrils making her smile into the kiss.
” I missed you and was dying to kiss you” David confessed when they pulled apart, panting hard. Their foreheads leaned on each other as they struggled to catch some breath.
David pulled her to bed and climbed too.
” Ain’t you going back to your room?” Sheila asked when the man took his position in her bed like he owned it.
” You are my woman so why would I go and sleep alone leaving you all cold.” David replied with a shrug.
Sheila didn’t know what to say.
She wasn’t not prepared yet.
” Don’t worry, nothing will happen. I just want to hug you as we sleep.” He said and with that, Sheila let go of her fears and joined him in bed.
Pulling her to himself, he kissed her hair.
” Goodnight love ”
” Goodnight.” Sheila replied. She felt happy having her Man share his body warmth with her. With a content smile, she fell asleep.
