” I am sorry Fred but I have to say no to your proposal.” Sheila uttered.
As painful as those words were, she had to tell them to him.
” There’s no chance for us to be together.” She added as she watched the myriad of emotions flashing through his eyes.
How she wished things were different but that’s the reality.
Between them, nothing could ever be possible except for their friendship.
David who had been standing outside the house smiled hearing her words.
He had been feeling anxious on his way here.
For some reason, he had been feeling that something was to be taken from him.
He had been walking on needles on his way here.
When the proposal was being made, he was actually just about to barge in but he decided to hold back and listen to what she would say.
Of Course that doesn’t mean he would let her go even if she accepted Fred’s proposal.

” But why Sheila? I love you. You said that you wanted a charming prince and I have tried all my life to be what you’ve always wanted. I went an extra mile just to be the man of your dreams. Before he left, Vanessa always teased him about asking Sheila out Since the girl was infatuated with him.
He could tell as much so what went wrong and where?

” Hey I Love you, I swear I do.” Sheila said, cupping his face in her hands.

She just hoped that he could understand that she couldn’t be with him.
She was in Love with David already and since they were already in a relationship, she could not give him any hopes.
” No, please no Sheila. You can’t do this to me.” He said pulling her towards him and hugging her lithe body.
Sheila struggled to free herself from his embrace.
It’s one thing to share a friendly hug but this wasn’t the time.. They were amidst an important discussion and Fred was proving to be emotionally unstable.
” Let her go!” David’s angry voice resonated in the room causing Fred to pull away from Sheila to look at the Intruder.
David had been listening to them until he felt angered seeing the man hug his little woman.
He was a possessive man and that last thing he wanted was to see someone holding what was his.
He allowed the boy to voice out his feelings not because he was okay with it, He wanted what she would choose and more importantly, to give them a chance to have closure.
Fred was about to lash at whoever tried to interrupt his alone time with Sheila.
The moment he turned, he was greeted by the sight of the most powerful and richest bachelor in the country.
The words that were about to escape his lips. He was left speechless and short for words.
David sauntered to the room like he owned the place.
Pulling Sheila to his arms, he gave Fred a hard stare.
He didn’t bother to hide his dislike for the boy.
” I advise you to leave my girlfriend alone Mr Cooper.” His voice was deep and a hint of warning.
He will be generous this time but he won’t be the next time the boy tries to openly court his woman.
” I will forget that this happened but make sure there’s no second time .” He warned.
Looking at how Sheila relaxed in his embrace and leaned on him, David smiled.
He kissed her forehead, breathing in her Jasmine mixed with lemon Scent.
How he had missed this! missed to hold her in his arms, missed seeing her beautiful face.
Fred watched as the woman he loved all his life nuzzled in another man’s embrace.
He could only smile bitterly.
It was clear as day that Sheila would never be his even after he spent all those years preparing himself for their marriage.
He didn’t want to believe that at the end of the day, he couldn’t get the woman he always desired.
David was someone nobody was willing to offend as long as he wanted to remain in country A peacefully.

It would have been better if Sheila was in Love with him but no, she was in love with someone else and from the look of things, this someone else seemed to be nobody else than David Brown, a force not to be reckoned with.
” I understand, excuse me.” Fred said, taking his leave.
What was the need of staying any longer there unless he wanted to embarrass himself.
After Fred left, Sheila was pulled away by David.
She almost stumbled and fell if it wasn’t for David’s fast reflexes that saved her.
Sheila landed straight to his chest, her small and soft chest pressing against David’s hard muscles.
The two got lost in each other’s eyes before Sheila broke away and ran outside.
Her heart was beating fast and face was heated.
She had pushed David out of panic when he leaned in to kiss her.
actually she didn’t know what she was doing. That’s until her hands had already pushed him away and legs carried her downstairs . She just hoped he wouldn’t think too much about it.
