As much as I feel offended by those words, I deem it appropriate to go check up on my son in school. I seize the chance and escape from the pack. I realize I don’t even remember the way back there anymore.
Dominic’s Beta stops me since I don’t make a quick move.
“I was going to hunt. I’d be back in a jiffy.” With that, I push him to the ground. That act simply reveals my intention but what could I have done?
As soon as I reach the gliding streets, I flag down a taxi and the cloud suddenly becomes dark, unusually as everyone complimented.
“Montana High School” I reveal my destination and he nods his head. I get in, and he begins to drive. Hardly had he started driving than he parked the car in the nearest car park.
“Why?”
“If you aren’t blind, you’d notice that it’s about to pour.” He retorts but I knock a fist on his head.
“Next time, know how to talk.”
He smirks, whispering to himself, “if only people know who I am.”
I could hear what he whispered only because my wolf’s ears are very sharp and can listen to long distance conversations. I’m being reminded of Alex’s words: “Most of the citizens are werewolves. No one will ever reveal it until there’s a reason to showcase the ability.”
I chuckle at that reminder and he looks back.
“Are you one as well?”
“Oh-uh. Oh, nope. I’m not. Please.” I deny.
“The weather is clear now but unusually snowy. What’s wrong?” He hiccups as he says. He drives the car back to the gliding streets and we reach Montana High School within twenty-five minutes.
I sigh deeply as I alight from the car and begin to run away without paying him. He suddenly assumes himself beside me. I swallow at that creepy move and he smirks.
“… until there’s a need to showcase the ability.”
“Is that a rule or what?”
“It’s a saying. Wasn’t formed by any fucking individual.” He asserts.
I walk away after flinging a few dollar notes at him. He picks it up and suddenly reaches beside his car. I’m not sure he’s a werewolf, he should be a vampire. After all, vampires are always against werewolves. That might be the reason he doesn’t want to praise Alex as the founder of the saying.
When I turn to enter the school, I bump into someone but she doesn’t look back or apologize. I hiss and walk away.
My quick feet get me to Jack’s classroom on time. I praise myself for still remembering his grade and the particular lecture hall his grade uses. I wait for him outside, expecting him to approach. I can’t wait for my kids to have their scents so I will be able to locate them on time.
Someone nudges me from behind and I turn sharply to hit such but his expression alone makes me humble to ask his reason for nudging me.
“Your son is not in the pack.” He calmly assures.
“Thanks. I’ll expect him to meet me on time.” I ease the tension by those words.
“He’s right in his pack. Dark Fangs.”
“Dark Fangs? He never told me he’d join a pack with such title. Are they vampires?”
“That’s left for you to discover. I’ve done the larger part.” He says and walks away but I hold him back.
“I’ll do you a favor. Just take me to where he is.” I plead.
“A favor? Promise?”
“Promise.”
“Follow me.” He commands and I obey sharply.
I’m scared to find Jack in the middle of the pack like someone being initiated to a cult. Jack acts like a spirit invoked or someone with no manners almost every time… what if he’s initiated? It’ll be worse than the vampire spell previously cast upon him.
“Jack!” I call but the dude holds my lips and hides us immediately.
“Are you mad? You don’t shout that way. Didn’t I lead you here?”
“I’m sorry, my Lord”
He gives me a punch on my chest as he smirks, “I’m not yet your lord.”
I ponder on his words but he speaks some other words that make me shiver.
“I’d rescue your son after which I ask for the favor. Huh?”
I nod my head affirmatively. He barges into the pack and scares the hell outta all of them. I cringe at the moment.
After a few minutes, he returns with Jack. My son’s doing well. His face is fresh and he looks cuter.
“Mom? What you doing here?” He inquires as a first question.
“See? See someone you came to save.” The guy complains, revealing a knife from his pocket. I quickly scream to prevent his intended actions. I clutch Jack to myself and flee.
He begins to pant, searching for both of us. When he catches up with us, he asks, “what about my favor?”
“What do you want, this man?”
“Let him belong to my pack. If you don’t give me what I ask for, he’ll go for it.”
“What’s the name?”
“Anderson. Light Moon Pack. We’re in search of more wolves and we have vowed not to turn any human into wolves for the purpose of population.”
“Good one. But there are many other kids you can ask to belong to your pack aside Jack.”
“Then we have to do them some favor and request for ours in return. We have killed a few of them when they refused to join us.” He says, as my heart throb. I release Jack to him but request to follow him to his pack.
“We also offer topics to focus on when preparing for exams so we don’t fail the course.” He adds. “Jack will testify it’s such a good pack.”
“Jack, what about Jake?” I suddenly ask.
Jack looks straight into Anderson’s eyes and same also happens from Anderson to him and then both of them at me.
“He was part of those that refused to join us.” Anderson reveals. My heart throbs intensely, my head aches and I can’t believe what he insinuated.
