“Doctor Samuel Knight, I entrust Miss Bella Stone to you. Please examine her thoroughly.”
As usual, today was Kairos’s schedule to accompany Bella for her prenatal checkup. Upon meeting Samuel, he deliberately entrusted the woman while he appeared to be preparing to leave for work.
“Aren’t you waiting for her?”
Kairos shook his head.
“I actually want to accompany her. But, today there’s an important guest I have to meet in person. That’s why I left Bella with you first. Don’t worry, my bodyguard will wait outside the hospital.”
Samuel shook his head. Aware that Kairos was extremely busy, he didn’t protest at all.
“All right then. Be careful. I’ll take care of Bella here.”
“Thank you, cousin. Please inform me if there’s anything important or things I need to know. When you’re done, ask Bella to wait for a moment.”
After bidding farewell, Kairos left immediately. Meanwhile, Samuel went back into the room and started his usual task of examining Bella’s pregnancy.
“How are you, Bella?”
“Good, Doctor Samuel.”
“Is your baby in there very active?” Samuel pointed towards Bella’s abdomen. Currently, she was lying down and ready for the examination.
“He’s really active. Always moving around. I can’t wait to meet him.”
Samuel smiled.
“Don’t worry. You’ll meet him soon.”
Then, Samuel began the examination. Checking one by one, he concluded that Bella’s pregnancy was healthy, normal, and undoubtedly fine.
“Any problems?” Bella asked when Samuel finished examining her.
“No, Bella. Your baby is fine. They seem healthy in there.”
“Thank goodness. Kairos deserves all the credit for helping me so much.”
“You’re very lucky.”
Bella nodded. Rising, she moved to sit on the sofa.
“When is the estimated due date for this baby?”
“As estimated, around early next month.”
“I’m getting nervous myself. I’m afraid I won’t be able to deliver them from my womb.”
Samuel immediately laughed.
“Don’t be nervous. You’re in good hands with the right doctor. Just leave everything to me.”
Bella nodded. Seeing Samuel’s competent abilities, she shouldn’t worry.
“I entrust myself to you, Doc. My life and death are truly in your hands.”
Then there was silence for a moment. Until shortly after, Samuel spoke again.
“Are you really not interested in meeting Edward?”
Bella quickly shook her head.
“I don’t want to meet him.”
“Why?”
“I just don’t want to get hurt a second time, Doctor. That’s why I’m trying to forget and if necessary, erase his name from my life.”
“Do you know that Edward is currently troubled looking for your whereabouts?”
Bella laughed.
“Edward is looking for me? Why?”
“Obviously, he’s looking for you to apologize and resolve all the issues between you two. Do you want this problem to continue hanging without any resolution?”
“No need, doctor. I’m happy living like this. And I think, Edward doesn’t need to bother looking for me just to apologize.”
“But, you should know, Bella. Regardless, Edward has rights over the child you’re carrying. Regardless, you shouldn’t be selfish.”
“But, I don’t want to meet, especially not with Edward,” Bella debated.
“No one is asking you to return to live with Edward. It’s just that, I remind you that the baby in your womb also deserves love from his father. It’s up to you whether you want to reconcile or end up separated. But, if I may advise, don’t let innocent children become victims because of our selfishness.”
Bella fell silent. Samuel’s striking words managed to touch her conscience.
“So, do you think I should make peace with Edward?”
Samuel nodded.
“Why not? You just need to resolve this issue. Whether the ending is getting back together or splitting up, it’s your and his rights. What I ask is, please think about what fate your children will have.”
Bella fell silent again. Unsure of what response to give.
“Edward really is looking for you, Bella. He genuinely wants to apologize and resolve the issues between you two.”
Before Samuel finished speaking, there was repeated knocking on the door. When opened, a nurse appeared looking for him.
“Doctor Samuel, you’re needed in the Emergency Room. Doctor Cornelus needs your help immediately.”
Samuel nodded. Signaling to Bella to wait. While he immediately went to the ER.
About 15 minutes later, Samuel provided assistance. When finished and about to return to the room, he accidentally ran into Edward who had just arrived at the hospital.
“Samuel.”
“Hey. Since when did you arrive?” Samuel asked, then the two walked side by side.
“Just now. So, where’s Bella? You promised to tell me her whereabouts, didn’t you?”
Samuel nodded.
“I haven’t forgotten. Let’s go to my room.”
Edward nodded. Taking large steps, impatient to arrive at Samuel’s room.
Upon arrival, Samuel entered the room. However, he was slightly surprised when he didn’t find Bella there.
“What’s wrong, Sam? Are you looking for something?”
Samuel nodded then walked out of the room. He searched for the duty nurse, then waved, asking one of them to approach.
“Can I help you, Doctor?”
“Yes,” Samuel replied. “Did you see the female patient in my room?”
The nurse nodded.
“Yes, Doctor. Earlier, the patient was picked up and left immediately.”
“Picked up?”
Samuel was surprised. As far as he remembered, Kairos hadn’t contacted him to say he was going to pick up Bella.
“Who picked her up?”
The nurse shook her head.
“I’m not sure, Doctor. A tall man in neat clothes came. Maybe they’re still in the parking lot.”
“What’s going on?” Edward asked, confused.
“I’m looking for Bella, Ed. She was in my room earlier. And now, she’s gone, and I don’t know who picked her up.”
Edward was shocked. Without hesitation, he immediately ran towards the parking lot. Hoping he still had time to find Bella.
