CHAPTER EIGHTY-THREE
ASHER’S POV
“Adolph!” I call in rage as I barge into the castle.
My heart misses a beat I see Astrid chained to a chair, crying like she has been hurt.
Bastard!
The bastard has hurt her.
He walks into the living room from nowhere and all of a sudden, he holds Astrid by the neck and stabs her with an injection. I watch in horror as he empties the content of the syringe into her body and Astrid goes weak.
“What did you just do?” I ask in horror and he laughs hysterically.
“I just injected her with silver. Once it circulated into her system, that baby she is carrying is going to die!”
Bloody hell!
“No you did not!”
“Yes I did, do your worse!”
At the speed of light, I march over to where he’s standing and pick him up with my right hand. I pin him to the wall with his legs suspending in the air just like I did to his son the other day.
I would’ve snapped his neck right now, but that will be a waste time because he’s going to wake up anyway. Only the dagger can have him killed.
In rage, I throw him accross the room and he hits his body hard against the wall before dropping to the ground.
The weakling goes unconscious.
His rogue guards try to come close but I let out a loud growl, with my eyes turning blood red and my teeth becoming fangs.
They all step back in fear.
I walk over to Astrid who is crying and bleeding profusely. I rip off the chains around her with a single pull and scoop her into my arms.
The guards watch in silence as I head out of the living room.
Astrid can’t lose this baby.
That witch better show up and perform a miracle because if this baby dies, I will lose my sanity!
***************************************
“Quick! Bring her in here!” The witch instructs the moment I step out if the car and I’m beyond shocked to see her leading the way into my living room.
I want to ask her a lot of questions, but now doesn’t seem to be the best moment to do that.
I follow her lead into the living room and when I get there, I’m terrified to see that my living room has suddenly been transformed into a spell ground.
There are red candles all over the place and on the table on which she motions me to place Astrid, a round circle has been drawn on it and there are leaves and little pots around it
I place Astrid in the center of the circle and take a step backwards.
“What do you want to do?” I ask worried.
“You asked for a miracle, didn’t you? I’m about to perform one. She has already lost the baby, but his soul hasn’t crossed to the spirit world yet. I can call it back and put it into her” She says confidently as she touches leaves here and there.
“Oh…” is all I can say as I hold Astrid’s hand.
“Hold her firmly. I need you both for this”
“Ok” I grab both Astrid’s hands and kiss them as the witch starts making incantations.
I don’t know what this witch has with the wind, but everytime she shows up somewhere, a powerful wind must blow.
As the wind blows, we all stand firm so as not to to be blown away and suddenly, everything goes black.
I can’t see anyone before me. All I can hear is the witch reciting incantations and the eerie feeling in my abdomen makes me want to puke.
I hope it works.
I really do hope it works.
After several minutes of strong wind blowing and complete darkness, everything comes back to normal. Everything becomes visible again and the first person I look at is Astrid.
Even the candles are no longer burning.
I can see that she is no longer bleeding and she she looks totally confused.
She gently sits upright as she holds her stomach.
“I no longer feel light. I feel like I’m pregnant again!”
“That is because you are. I got your son’s soul and he is alive in you again.” the witch says with a proud smile and immediately, I hug Astrid and kiss her hair.
I can’t believe this is happening.
“Thank you very much” Astrid thanks in tears and the witch just smiles.
“You are welcome. But we don’t have time, Adolph and his men will be here anytime soon and we have to be ready for them!”
“I already asked Beta Kane to organize the soldiers, they should be around by now. Adolph doesn’t stand a chance” Rowan explains and I nod at him.
“Astrid, do you feel good?”
“I feel way better right now, Asher. I feel so much better” She steps down from the table. “I need to go change my clothes.” She says as she rises from the table and heads for the staircase.
I have a few blood stains on my jacket as well, but I don’t have time to go and change. I simply take it off and place on the couch as I go out side to see what’s going on.
I’m just glad all this has to end today.
Joy!
Joy is all I can feel in my heart right now.
********************************
“Asher!” I hear Adolph call as he barges into the castle gate, all dressed up for war.
He is awake from his slumber.
Such a weakling!
I can’t believe a single throw sent him unconscious. My punch is definitely going to take out his brains from this head!
“Asher!” He calls yet again as he walks towards me with his battalion.
I have never met man so foolish. How dare him come here after what I did to him a while ago?
“I can see you finally woke up from slumber. Did you have a good dream?” I mock and he halts on his tracks and gives me a deadly look.
Suddenly, he lets out a loud scream as he fall to the round. The sound of his bones breaking fills the entire atmosphere and I actually close my eyes as I try to imagine the pain he is going through.
“Seriously Adolph, you sent those pathetic soldiers to come and have me kidnapped? Have ever tried checking the meaning of a witch in your dictionary?” The witch asks as she walks towards him with her eyes not leaving his body.
His bones keep cracking as he gets to his knees and the only thing I can do is smile.
“Come here, child” She calls and Astrid walks out of the castle with the dagger of purity in her hand.
Adolph’s eyes widen in shock when he sees the dagger. He looks from Astrid to the witch and then back to Astrid.
“How’s this possible. That dagger has been destroyed, I saw it’s ashes with my own eyes!” He cries and the witch let’s out a hysterical chuckle as she takes a step closer to him.
“You have no idea what I am capable of doing, old man. I gave you power and you decided to misuse that power, so I’m going to take it back from you in the cruelest manner. I had plans of my own, that’s why I staged the whole dagger destruction saga. The last time we met, I told you your doom was knocking at your door, didn’t I ? But you didn’t listen. I told you this girl was going make you beg for mercy, but you chose to ignore me. Now look at you. It’s over!”
Astrid steps before him with an eternal frown masked on her face.
“My parents did nothing to deserve what you did to them. You had no right maltreat me the way you did, you had to make my subjects live in slavery all these years. Today, your tyranny will come to an end.”
I watch in fascination as she raises the dagger up and mercilessly stabs him in the heart.
“That is for my father ”
She pulls out the dagger and drives it again into the same spot.
“This is for my mother”
Another stab
“This is for all those years you made me serve as a slave in my own Father’s house”
Another stab on the same spot.
“This is for the people of the Black Wood Pack”
She pushes his numb, bleeding body to the ground and we all watch as the witch sets him ablaze.
The rogue soldiers he came with all flee away, leaving thier leader behind and even Tyr, his son is no where to be found.
It’s over.
A wave of energy hits the atmosphere and suddenly, a sweet smell fills my nostrils.
I look up at Astrid and Kane immediately sprints on my mind, chanting the words “mate” all over the place.
The sweet smell I just perceived is her pheromone.
The curse has been broken.
I look at the witch with a wide smile plastered on my face.
“I told you”
I rush over to Astrid and take her into my arms, caring less about the fact that her hands are soiled with blood.
She is my mate.
I can’t believe Astrid is truly my mate.
“Alpha Asher” A voce calls from the door and we turn to look who it is.
I see a maid standing by the door looking terrified band I rush towards her.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s Luna Freya, she is lying lifelessly in a pool of her own blood in your bedroom. I think… I think she is dead”
“My baby!”
Is the first thing that escapes my lips as I rush into the house.
Freya has killed my baby.
