CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR
ARYA’S POV
“Arya, are you sure this is a good idea?” Rowan whispers for the umpteenth time as we walk across the lane in the witches compound.
The old cottage is situated at the centre and just the sight of it gives me an eerie feeling.
I suggested we come here and ask her what’s going on and Rowan has not been very supportive of the idea. I don’t know why he is so scared.
“Of course it is!” I reply annoyed as I halt on my tracks and hold my waist with both hands. “She is the only one who can explain to us what’s going on” I explain and he chuckles, much to my annoyance.
“Explain ? Did you just say explain? I can bet on my life that she’s not going to say anything, she’s only going to talk in parables and get us even more confused. I’d advice we go back home”
“Go back home and watch our brother marry the daughter of that tyrant? Never! I’d rather go in there and listen to those parables, maybe they will make some sense to me, remember I’m smarter than you are” I walk on and he rushes up to me after standing for a while.
“What did you just say?”
“I say I’m smarter that you are!” I repear as I march forward and I can see from my peripheral vision that he creases his brows and open his mouth wide as if to say something, but he instead chuckles and shakes his head.
“I know what you want me to do, you want me to get into an argument with you so I’ll seem dump, but you are so wrong! I’m not going to argue with you!”
“Because you know I’m smarter!”
“No you are not!”
“Yes I am!”
“No!”
“Stop!” A voice calls out from nowhere and we both stop on our tracks and look around nervously, but mysteriously, there’s no one insight.
“Who is there?”
“You twins make so much noise!” The voice comes through again and I cling onto Rowan in fear. “Stop arguing and come into the house!” The voice instructs and immediately, Rowan and I walk fast across the lane to the porch. The old, worn out door immediate swings open we both walk into the magical living room.
I can see chairs organizing themselves, a ball of thread knitting itself into a bag and cups flying here and there.
Fascinating.
Totally fascinating.
In my next life, I would like to be a witch and not a werewolf.
“That’s a very bad wish there, young princess” The beautiful witch calls out as she walk towards us, looking as elegant as always.
She fucking reads minds.
“Why not?” I ask daringly.
“Because being a witch is nothing but a curse, a curse no one would love to bear”
“Oh…” I exclaim blankly and she gently nods her head and leads us both to the sitting area where we both sit down.
As we do, I’m amazed to see two bottles of water flying towards us and immediately one steps before me, I grab it with a wide smile plastered on my face.
Curse or not! I would still like to be a witch in my next life.
“You are just as strong willed aw your mother” The witch replies my thoughts once more and I just smile as I drink the water.
I turn to Rowan who hasn’t uttered a word since we got in here.
“You good?” I ask concerned and he nods.
“Yeah, I am. Just waiting for you ladies to have your lady time.”
“You always say the most interesting things, young prince” The witch compliments and I can’t help but smile and keep staring at Rowan.
“Stop giving me that creepy look Arya, you are scaring me with smile of yours as well” He complains and I just shake my head as I place my now, half-filled bottle of water on the table.
“So, what brings you two here?”
“I can swear on my life that you know why were are here” Rowan blurts out and I give him a hard glare before turning to look at the witch.
“Don’t mind my brother, he has some attitude problem lately”
“Well, he’s right though, I do know why you are here”
“You do?” I ask surprised, then it clicks.
She is a witch and she reads minds, so it’s possible for her to have read our minds already.
Silly me.
“Yes I do”
“So, can you tell us what has to he done? We are all in deep shit right now. Alpha Adolph has the dagger. I know you asked us to keep it well, we did our best to do so, but Freya proved to be smarter. Please what do we do?”
“Your brother has not only lost the dagger, but he has made a wrong choice. I have told him not to get involved with the wrong shewolf, else all hope will be lost. Freya is not his mate, he should never get intimate with her, else this whole issue will become irreversible!”
“But, they are getting married and that’s why we are here to seek for advice on what to do. We need to stop that wedding from happening so there will be no chance if him ever getting intimate with her. Please, we need your help”
“I know you need my help and I will help you when the right time comes, for now, I need you to tell your brother to not get intimate with Freya, because if he does, this whole thing is messed up. That is all I have to say for now.”
Strong wind blows from nowhere and stuff start flying in the air. The witch suddenly disappears from her seat and both Rowan and I look at ourselves, totally confused.
Right now, I’m even more confused than I was before.
What has intimacy got to do with this issue?
Ahh! Rowan was right.
*********************************
“You two went to see the witch?” Asher asks aghast and both Rowan and I nod our heads in silence.
“Well, it was my idea. I just thought we she would advice us on what to do?”
“Well, did she?”
“Not really, she just said you have chosen the wrong She-wolf and that you should try as much as you can to avoid getting intimate with her, because if you do, this whole thing will become irreversible.”
“Yeah, she told me that before and I’ve been doing just that.”
“So, what exactly happens when you get intimate with Freya?” I ask curious and Asher leans by his office table and looks at me.
“I don’t know exactly, but it has to do with the dagger. There’s a scribbling on the wooden handle of the dagger which reads “Dagger of purity”. I think it has to do with us all, like, our bloodline. As in, we have to remain pure until we meet our mates, if not, it will be destroyed”
“But, how is that possible when we can’t even detect our mates? That’s unfair to us”
“Well, that’s where my knowledge ends. All I have to do right now is avoid Freya, until the right time comes for the witch to reveal everything to us.”
“Well, that makes sense. I think you should just do that”
“I will”
I know my brother will do that.
He doesn’t even like Freya in the first place, her body doesn’t entice him in anyway and keeping away from her will be an easy thing to do.
“I’m going to avoid her like she was a plague!” He adds and both Rowan and I burst into laughter.
I can’t wait to see how all this ends.
