CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE
ASHER’S POV
“You called” My Beta announces as he steps into my office and I look up at him. A heavy sigh follows and I massage my forehead.
I’m tired and irritated at the same time.
Alpha Adolph summoned me again to his castle and I wonder why. Freya mentioned me earlier that she was going to see him today and I wonder what she must have told him that has urged him to summon me.
I’m tired.
I’m tired of being obliged to show up whenever he summonds me over.
Most of the times, I want to say no, I want to turn him down, but I’m scared of what his next move will be. That man has a very bad reputation.
He is merciless and the last thing I want is for him to attack my subjects abd make their lives miserable.
“We are going over to the Black Wood Pack. Adolph has summoned me”
“Again?” Kane asks aghast. “What does he want this time?”
“I have no idea. I just have to go over and find out for myself”
“Alpha Asher, this can’t keep going on. This man has no right to keep doing this. Isn’t there a way out”
“There is Kane, but it’s not clear yet. I’m still working on it and I promise to let you know once it’s ripe. For now, let’s just dance to his tune. It won’t be long before we stop all this nonsense” I explain and he quietly nods his head, but I can swear that he is not satisfied with my response.
Even I am not satisfied with my response, but there is nothing I can do as of now.
I just have to keep playing his puppet for the sake of peace.
“So, do we leave immediately?”
“Yeah. Mindlink the driver, tell him we will be using the Rolls-Royce”
“I’ll drive” He offers.
“Are you sure you want to drive?” I inquire abd he nods.
” Very positive”
“Cool, then I’ll drive on our way back…”
“But…”
“Uh… no objections. If the Beta can drive, so can the Alpha” I say as I walk over to a shelf where the car keys are kept and I pick up the keys to the Rolls-Royce.
“You are stubborn” Kane complains as we both step out of my office.
“Well, what can I say? Stubborn is classy and you very well know how much affinity I have for classy things” I fire back and he just chuckles as we walk on.
Kane is a man of very few words.
One thing I love about him very much.
He is not a noise maker.

Kane and I walk into the familiar living room like ninjas and when we get in, I almost roll my eyes when I see Adolph seated on his throne with his son, Tyr, seated by his side.
They look so much alike. Dirty blonde hair, emerald green eyes, pointed nose and zero jawline!
Like father like son.
I can’t see Freya anywhere around and I’m surprised. I’m very certain this meeting was called because of her, so I expect her to be here.
Why isn’t she here? And where the hell is she?
“Good day to you, Alpha Adolph”
“Alpha Asher, you are welcome once more to my pack”
“Thank you” I mumble under my breath.
I don’t like being around these people even for a single second!
“What we are about to discuss is a family issue and I’m not comfortable with that young man’s presence” He says referring to Kane.
“This is my Beta, Kane. If he can’t be a part of this meeting, then I’m afraid I’ll have to ditch it. ” I say firmly and both father abd some exchange confused glances.
Tyr averts his gaze to me with a frown planted on his face.
“You have so much nerve to talk to my father in such a rude manner. Seems like you have no idea he can end your entire reign with just a snap of his finger” Tyr rants and I smile .
“Id love to see him try”
“You are funny. Don’t you worry, in a few moments to come you won’t dare to repeat what you just said. I promise you”
I don’t reply him.
I refuse to have a petty argument with a spoiled brat like Tyr.
I ignore his words and turn to face his father.
“So, am I staying or leaving?”
“You are staying.”
“Good, so why am I here?”
“Well, I just summoned you to let you know that I have already put a date for your wedding with my daughter. I have been waiting for you to make the bold step and set the date, but you seem to be too busy to do that so I have decided to help!”
“I don’t remember asking for your help in this issue. The wedding is between Freya and I, why do you keep meddling in our affairs?”
“Because this is my daughter’s happiness we are talking about. You don’t seem to care about it so I have to make matters into my own hands if I want this to work!”
“You can’t. You just can’t. You daughter isn’t getting married to herself, she is getting married to me and you can’t force me into something I’m not ready for, just yet. I’m not ready to get married yet, why is that so hard for you to understand?”
“There’s nothing for me to understand, Alpha Asher. All what matters is my daughter’s happiness. I don’t care if you are ready or not, all I know is that you are going to marry my daughter on the day I have set”
“And I say no!” I deny firmly as I take a forward. “I will not marry Freya on a day set by you. You are not going to boss me around !”
“Well, I will. I will because I can! Because I have the only thing you ever had against me” He says plainly and I get confused.
What does he mean by that?
I crease my brows and look at him.
“What do you mean by that?”
“Well…” He trails off and my heart sinks into my stomach when he pulls out the dagger.
All the hair on my body stand erect out of nervousness and my ear begins to itch. I poke my eyes wide open and look at the dagger, hoping it’s not what I think it is, but when I see the writing on it and the brown handle, I take a defeated step backwards.
He got the dagger.
How did he …
Freya!
It must have been her!
“Bloody Moon goddess!” I mumble and the tyrant smiles as he rises from his throne.
“Bloody Moon goddess indeed! I have got the only thing that can have me killed in this life. Right now I am invincible, I’ve got all my power back and I’m not scared of anyone. I have power over you all and whatever I say stands. So, boy! If you don’t want your people to suffer, if you don’t want both your siblings dead, you had better do as I say. You very well know what I’m capable of doing.”
He rants and I just stand there looking at him blankly, wondering how Freya was able to outsmart us all.
How they were able to outsmart me.
I had no idea he knew about the the dagger.
I refused to accept the fact that Freya’s main misson at my pack was to steal that dagger.
Moon goddess, what do I do?
Everything is ruined!
I turn to Kane who has just the same expression I have on.
He is beyond shocked.
“Let’s get out of here” I instruct and immediately, we both exit the living room, ignoring the scarcastic laughter coming from Adolph and his son.
The truth is, I had no idea the dagger was linked to Alpha Adolph.
I didn’t know it being in his possession makes him invincible. The witch had spoken in parables and I really did not understand her.
She only emphasized on the fact that I should never let the dagger out of sight, but she never told me what it has to be used for.
Right now, I’m even more confused and scared because I don’t know the danger that’s ahead.
I really don’t know what’s about to happen.
