CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN
ASTRID’S POV
I have been running in the woods for over two hours now and both Tiva and I are exhausted. I needed to clear my mind, because lately, alot of thing have been happening and I feel like I’m gradually losing my sanity.
Alpha Asher has been strangely sweet these days. I can’t believe I let him see me totally naked. I let him touch my body and even let him kiss me, when I very well know he has a fiance.
I don’t even know how to feel.
I don’t know if I should feel happy that he loves me too, of if I should feel guilty that I’m flirting with a man that’s already taken.
I don’t have a good feeling about this.
I can feel it in my gut that something big is on the way. Something that will take me off guard.
Something that will get me heartbroken, but as it is now, I don’t really care.
All I want is to enjoy this moment while it lasts because I know it’s not going to be forever.
The fact that we can’t detect our mates is really not a good thing. If I knew my mate, I wouldn’t be a hopeless romantic right now. I would’ve been in his loving arms, having nothing to worry about.
“You would still have you father’s pack to worry about” Tiva, my wolf reminds me and I sigh in frustration.
That’s another issue on it’s own.
I wonder how my people are faring over there.
Alpha Adoph must be treating them awefully.
I can’t wait to get done with my training. I’m going to bring him down, I’m going to take back what belongs to me when the time comes and he will not be able to stop me.
That I swear…
“I smell something” Tiva points out and I immediately spring on my feet when I hear footsteps approaching.
The strange smell hits me hard and I immediately know whoever is approaching is a rogue.
I turn around swiftly and my eyes meet with about ten pairs of yellow eyes before me. The beasts are growling in anger as they approach and I take calculated steps backwards as I prepare on how to defend myself.
I’m not scared of them.
I’m an Alpha and I’m capable of finishing them off.
I let out a loud howl when they keep approaching and the colour of my eyes change from yellow to red. Tiva who seemed to be tired a while ago, doesn’t look tired anymore. She is ready to rip some necks off.
The first wolf sprints forward and as in jumps on my body, I raise both forelimbs up and take him by the head. As I tackle him to the ground, I sink my canines into his neck and he lets out a loud painful growl as I tear off flesh from his neck. I pick him up with much ease and fling against a tree and as he falls down, he goes still.
The taste of blood in my mouth enrages me all the more and right now, I only want more. I growl in I’m anger as two more wolves advance towards me. As one of them lunges at me, I dodge and he passes through at top speed. I use that opportunity to attack the second wolf who seemed distracted.
I jump on his back making sure my claws sink deep into his felsh and I take a big bite on his coccyx. He wiggles around in pain as he tries to shake me off him, but I’m glued. The only thing that makes me get off is an excruciating pain on my tail.
One of the rogues just bit my tail.
I quickly let go of the other wolf and turn to face the wolf who just bite me. The four wolves surround me start walking in a circle motion.
One of them flies in the air to attack me, but he is caught up in the air by a big grey wolf, which I recognize to be Alpha Asher.
Another grey wolf, which is no doubt, Rowan, takes on another rogue and I watch in fascination as the two grey wolves kill all four rogues with so much ease.
I limp backwards and lean by a tree so I can rest.
Both Alpha Asher and Rowan approach me and I badly want to thank them for coming to my rescue, but I can’t. I can’t mindlink them because I’m not a member of the pack.
I quietly make my way towards Asher and when notices my bitten tail, he let’s out a loud, angry howl, despite the fact that it’s healing fast.
We all walk in silence back to the pack and I have felt so protected in my life. Having two Alpha wolves walk side by side me is such a big deal.
I don’t know what I did to diserve such royal treatment.

“He likes us” Tiva comments out of nowhere and I smile as I pull up my pants.
“I know right?”
“So, what are you going to do about it?”
“Nothing” I reply curtly and she rolls her eyes.
“What do you mean nothing?”
“What would you have me do? You can see he is engaged to someone else. The only thing I can do is stay still and allow things unfold the way they should. If things favor us, good, if they don’t, then we’ll move on” I explain and she let’s out a sad purr as she blocks herself out. “Naughty girl”
I say with a light chuckle and walk out of the closet.
A knock at the door causes a foolish smile to appear on my face and without thinking twice, I rush over to the door and swing it open, expecting to see Alpha Asher, but to my greatest dismay, I see a raging Freya standing before me.
My heart immediately falls into my abdomen as the smile on my face fades away.
“Freya!” I call in shock.
“Did you just see a ghost? Why the look?” She asks opening her eyes widely.
“No… nothing” I stammer and she rolls her eyes , pushes me aside and walks into the bedroom. I close the door and gently turn around to look at her.
Why the hell is she here?
“What brings you here?” I ask calmly and spins around abruptly to look at me.
“Listen to me, you piece of shit! I don’t care what it is you are doing to my fiancé, I don’t care what it is you feel for him, but I have just one thing to tell you…” She inches closer to me and I try to walk backwards, but my back hits against the wall.
“Asher is mine and mine alone, we are engaged and he is going to get married to me! Get that that into that thick head of yours!” She scolds furiously and I nod my head hoping that she goes away.
“I don’t even know what he sees in you. I mean, you are just a common slave, you have no social standards, you aren’t even pretty, what about you actually interests him that I cannot see?”
I’m tempted to tell her that she can’t see because you are blind, but I know better than to voice such a thing.
I smack is going to follow.
“Well, you can’t see because you are blind” A voice speaks from the door a we both avert our gazes to the door to see who it is and behold, there stands Arya in all her glory, with a deadly look plastered on her face.
“It will do us both good if you can move away from Astrid” She says and immediately, Freya steps away from me. I heave out a heavy breath I didn’t even know I was holding.
“What are you doing here?” Freya asks rudely, as usual.
“I could ask you the same, but I don’t want to, so I’m just going to tell you to leave!” Arya commands as she gives Freya a hard glare that causes her to tremble. “Now!” She adds a d immediately, Freya scurruesout if the bedroom a s slams the door hard behind her.
I’m going to pay for that.
“Are you alright?” Arya asks concerned and I quietly nod my head. “You just killed a rogue in the woods today, that proves how brave and fearless you are, why didn’t you teach her a little lesson?”
“There’s time for everything” I say with a light shrug and she smiles.
“Of course, there is. Come, dinner is served and Asher won’t eat unless you sit by his side” She holds my hand and pulls me out of the bedroom and I blush hard.
Tonight’s dinner is going to be a catastrophe.
