CHAPTER SIXTEEN
ASTRID’S POV
I spent the rest of the day bawling my eyes out on my bed and I didn’t even know when it was nightfall.
The memories of what happened during the day have refused to leave my mind and they do nothing but cause chills run down my spine every time I recall them.
Tyr would’ve raped me if his father had not intervened.
No!
He would have found the dagger if his father had not intervened.
Everything would have gone wrong if his father had not intervened.
This could only be the moon goddess’ doing and I’m grateful to her for saving me.
I don’t know how I would’ve lived with myself if Tyr had raped me.
That brutal tyrant.
I have never thought of this before because of fear of what I would become, but right now, I think it was about time I started thinking in that direction.
I have to run away from this pack.
I know I’m automatically going to become a haunted rogue the moment I cross this pack’s boundaries, but I think I’m better off as a rogue than a slave in this pack.
Alpha Adolph rescued me today, he might not be there the next time Tyr tries to rape me again. One thing for sure is that Tyr is mad at me right now and he is definitely planning his revenge against me. I cannot let him have his way with me.
It is wrong and I can’t just sit here and let him do whatever he wants. I have to find a way to get out of this pack at all cost.
I have do that!
I would rather go out there and die as a rogue than become Tyr’s sex slave.
I swear.
A harsh knock at my door snaps my out of my thoughts and I tremble in fear as I look at the rusted iron door. Anyone knocking at that door in such a manner must be very strong.
It should either be a guard or…
Tyr.
“Tyr!” I whisper in fear as I abruptly sit upright and cast a fearfully look at the door.
What if he is here to get his revenge.
Oh my God, I’m hyperventilating right now.
The harsh knock comes again and this time around, I jump down from the bed and nervously tip toe to the door and peep from the little hole on to see who it actually is.
I’m beyond shocked to do so and see Alpha Adolph. I take a quick scan at the bed where the dagger is hidden beneath a pillow and nod my head.
I hide the piece of wood by my door so he won’t see it and get suspicious of my actions.
I gently open the door and step aside for him to get into the bedroom.
“Good evening to you, Alpha Adolph.” I greet with my head bowed down, but he doesn’t respond.
As usual.
He lacks all basic manners just like his son and daughter.
Pathetic family.
He just quietly walks into my bedroom and signals me to close the door which I obediently do. I can see from the side of my eyes that he’s sniffing the air and trying to find something to complain about.
That’s the best thing he and his kids are good at doing.
Complaining!
“Why is it so cold in here?” He asks calmly.
“This is actually a basement Alpha, it’s bound to be cold” I explain and he nods his head in silence and turns to face me. I suck on my breath and bow down my head so he doesn’t get offended and punishes me.
“Look at me” He commands in a calm but firm tone and I obey in silence.
I can see a few wrinkles on his face and his looks very distressed. That is actually very odd.
Alpha Adolph is known as the non-aging man. He always looks agile and young and now that I see wrinkles on his face, I’m beginning to think that there is something wrong somewhere.
I wonder what exactly could be stressing him up so badly. Whatever it is, I hope it stresses him out till he dies. He deserves it.
“Why did Tyr try to rape you?” He asks looking at me straight in the eyeball and I give him a surprised look.
How on earth am I supposed to know that?
“I… I don’t know sir. Ma’am Leah told me he requested to see me in his bed room and on my way there, he caught up with me in the hall way and that’s when he tried to do it, I don’t know why he wanted to do it”
“I see…” He takes calculated steps towards me and when he is just a few inches away, he stops on his tracks and gives my a long and hard stare with makes me bow my head down in fear.
This is the first time he is doing this and I can’t help but wonder what he is up to.
“A few days ago, I saw your father in my dream”
At the mention of the word, “Your Father”, I lift up my head to look at him and he smiles.
“You seem shocked. Are you?”
“Ye… yes I am Alpha Adolph, my father is dead, there is no way he can come to you in your dream”
“That is what I want to believe, but sadly, that’s not what’s there. You see, you father is bent on taking some sort of revenge against me. I don’t know how he intends to do it, but all I know is that he going to fail!”
The nerve of this man!
“Oh…” is all I can say as I divert my gaze to the ceiling above.
Just looking into his red bulging eyes that are filled with wickedness makes me want to die!
“And I’m going to prove it to him. Astrid!” He calls firmly and I jump in fright.
“Alpha Adolph”
“I want you to strip off your clothes and get on your bed”
Ahhh!
No!
Not again
Not with this ugly ogre!
“Alpha…”
“Silence!” He roars with his authoritative voice and I close my mouth and stay still.
He turns around and takes a few steps further into the room. “Do as I say!” He orders and I swear I don’t know what takes over me.
Without warning, I pick up the hard piece of wood by my door and inch closer to him from behind. Before he can turn around, I hit him hard on the neck and he falls to the ground, groaning in pain.
I hit him hard again on the same spot and this time around he goes numb and I take that as my queue to escape.
I bolt out of my room and head out of the servant quarters. It’s night so all the servants are already in their bedrooms and right now only the guards are patrolling around.
I do my possible best to dodge as many of them as I can and this is easy because I know every short cut, every corner of the castle and I can easily make my way around.
The moment I get to the field, I take on my heels and dash into woods at top speed. The moment Alpha Adolph wakes up, he will order his entire army to go after me.
Before they do that, I will be in another pack and they will no longer chase me because they will be invading another pack and bridging their laws which is unacceptable.
As I step into the woods, the darkness truly terrifies me, but I’m used to it. I come here every night to eat because I have been forbidden from eating dinner at the castle.
As I run further into the woods, the cold wind gives me chills and I hold the hem of my skirt in my hand and lift it up so it doesn’t retard my leg movements. The shrubs in the woods massage my bare feet while the dry leaves crunch beneath them as I speed on. My muscles tighten to the core when I think of the squad that will be on my tail the moment Alpha Adolph wakes up.
I’m currently barefooted because I didn’t have the to wear shoes in there and the dry woods on the ground do not spare me. As I step on them, they pierce me mercilessly. The pain at first is barely noticeable but as the starting rush of setting away lowers, the feeling increases.
I feel a tug in chest my when I cross the boundary which happens to be a stream. All ties I have with my pack snaps and twists, but I don’t stop to mourn or feel afraid. I need to run away from my tormentors, no matter what.
My wolf, Tiva lets out a pained whimper but still gives me energy to run on. I would have let her take over me in wolf form but that would be dangerous. It’s better to be caught as a rogue in human form than in wolf form. In human form you look less threatening, but in wolf form, they will see you as a threat and won’t hesitate to kill you.
I let the tears fall from my eyes as I came to halt and breath hard. My wolf is so tired that I can feel it, even I am exhausted as well and I can’t run any more.
I’m about to lower myself to the ground to rest for a bit when I hear dry leaves crunching as footsteps approach. I look up ahead only to see a all menacing figure approaching me and I act immediately. I quickly rise back on my feet and spring off but I don’t go far before the person gets a firm hold of me in his strong muscular arms that are impossible for me to wiggle myself free from.
“Please don’t kill me, I don’t mean any harm, I just need help” I try my last resort which is beg for mercy as I fall on the strangers feet and cry bitterly.
“Astrid!” The stranger calls in a surprised tone and I immediately jerk my head up to look at him.
I cannot see his face since it’s totally dark in here, but I will recognize that voice any where, anytime.
That is the same voice that had commanded the guard who was about to hit me, to stop.
The voice that had asked for my name and ordered another servant to carry the bag I could not carry.
That’s the voice of my hero and savior, Alpha Asher.
