CHAPTER SIX
ADOLPH’S POV
It’s almost nightfall and I find myself in a strange forest filled with trees whose leaves have all dried up and fallen to the ground.
As I take calculated steps to nowhere in particular, the sound of dry leaves crunching under my foot annoy me a great deal and I just want to scold them to stop making the annoying sound but then I remember that they are non living things and will not to hear me.
The birds which have build nests on the dry trees are chirping all sorts of inharmonious sounds that only causes the bile in my stomach.
The air in the forest is still as the trees have no leaves make it circulate easily.
What exactly am I doing in this place any way? it looks so unfamiliar and deserted. I totally hate the eerie feeling that’s developing in my stomach.
I stop on my tracks when I hear footsteps approaching from In front and focus my gaze ahead to see who it is that’s approaching.
Soon, a man with a white garment marches up to me and freeze on my spot, when I recognize who it is.
It is Alpha Tarlishi, the Alpha I dethroned took over his pack.
Wait…
Am I dead?
Why am I seeing a dead man?
No, that cannot be possible, I am invincible. I cannot be killed. I am immortal!
I paid the price of my immortality, I cannot die!
“Don’t overwork your mind Adolph, you are not dead. At least not yet. I cannot let you die just yet”
“What are you doing here Tarlishi?” I ask annoyed and he chuckles.
“Once a tyrant, always a tyrant. I came to give you a warning. You might think you have it, that you have won this fight, but here is a spoiler. The one you brought down, will bring you down as well and will trample on you in ways you will never imagine. Your doom will always stay knocking at your door and once that door is opened, you will meet your end. This fate of yours is inevitable, Adolph, so prepare for it. Not long from now, you will lose everything you have now. Mark my words”
Then he disappears into thin air.
I jump up abruptly from the bed and notice that I’m sweating profusely. That’s when I realize that I have been dreaming.
I take off the big duvet from my body and step down from the bed. I walk over to my fridge where I take out a bottle of water and drink to quench my thirst.
The dreams keeps replaying on my mind, especially Alpha Tarlishi’s words and without warning, my heart starts beating abnormally.
I get out of bedroom and go over to the balcony outside and surprised to see my Son, Tyr, standing there as well, smoking a cigarette.
“Still battling insomnia?”
I ask as I join him at the balcony and he looks at me and nods.
“Yeah. It’s getting worst as the days go by”
“You should see a doctor”
“Yeah, I will. Why are you up?”
“I had a bad dream” I announce as I take the cigarette from his hand and take a deep draw of it. I close my eyes, as the thick smoke goes down my throat and let it go out through my nostrils..
That helps calm my nerves.
“I saw Alpha Tarlishi and he gave me some sort of warning” I explain and Tyr gives me a horrified pointed look that causes me to chuckle. “Why you looking at me like that?”
“Because of what you just said. What do you mean by you saw Alpha Tarlishi in your dream?”
“I am not bluffing son, I saw him in my dream and he kept telling some crap about doom here and there. It was crazy”
“Dad, you killed Alpha Tarlishi fifteen years ago, there’s no way he’s back now for vengeance. Don’t let it get to you okay, it was just a dream.”
“I know, but it felt so real. I was sweating profusely when I woke up from the dream, like I was actually there, with him” I try to explain but Tyr keeps shaking his head.
“Like I said, it’s just a dream. Alpha Tarlishi is dead and gone, there is no way he can come back”
“I hope so, I really hope so. Because I’m prepared for anyone who is ready to go against me. I will end their lives just like I ended his and this time around, I will make sure their souls burn in hell’s everlasting Sulphur. I am Alpha Adolph and no one is ever going to strip me off that title. I repeat no one!” I say firmly as my fists clench at my side.
I’m never going to give up this Alpha title.
Never!
“Now, that’s the spirit. I’ll be going to bed now. Good night dad”
“Good night son”
As he leaves, I puff out another smoke and smile evily as I reminisce about my accomplishments so far.
When I first began to hatch this plan, I didn’t think I was ever going to get this far, but just look at where I am. I am just one step away from becoming Paramount Alpha.
I just need to play this last game perfectly and once everything falls in line, I will Alpha of all Alphas.
I will be invincible.
Every one will bow to my feet and worship me.
I cannot wait for that to day to come.
Suddenly, the wind blows stronger and the drapes sway left and right while the widow panes bang against each other, creating frightening noises.
Adrenaline washes all over my body and the only reflex I have right now is the fright, fight and flight reflexes.
Nervous energy explodes within me as I look around nervously, wondering why the wind is suddenly so strong.
“Your doom will always be knocking at your door”
A voce whispers from nowhere and I my heart misses a few beats.
Despite the strong wind that’s blowing, beats of sweat come tricking down my jaw and my pupils fully dilate as I scan around to see who’s talking.
This is one of those moments when I wish I have eyes all over my body. All my senses are on high alert and least thing will get me flying right now.
“Who…who is it, show yourself!” I call out bravely.
“Remember those words” The voice speaks again and I fling my head left and right, desperately looking for who is it that’s getting me all worked so I can kill him or her.
Suddenly, the wind stops blowing hard and the drapes dropped stop swaying as well. The window panes stop banging against each other and everything remains calm.
I rush back into the house before it comes back again.
Who ever it is, he has lost.
Like I said, I’m never going to give up this Alpha title.
Never!
ASHER’S POV
“NO Asher! You can’t do that. You can’t marry the daughter of that tyrant” Arya cries out in frustration.
I just explained to them all what I discussed with Alpha Adolph and they are not taking it lightly at all.
“That girl has a reputation that isn’t the kindest and marrying her will only make your life miserable.”
“I know that and I don’t want to marry her. But you all know the kind of man her father is. He never gives his word in vain, he promised to destroy this entire pack if I don’t marry his daughter. I cannot let that happen”
“Oh Asher. You are too good for this. You don’t deserve that kind of girl” Arya cries in a soft voice and I totally agree with her.
But what can I do?
“I’m bringing her over in two days time”
“Two days?” They both ask in unison and I nod my head.
“Her father’s orders”
“Are they that desperate?”
“It seems so”
“I’s be damned if Alpha Adolph doesn’t have something up his sleeves. This isn’t normal. We all know he is a master planner”
“I feel the same way too. But whatever his plans are, I’m going to figure it out before he can accomplish them. For now, I’m going to play the fool, do everything he wants, but he has no idea what I’m gonna plan for him”
“What we are going to plan for him” Arya corrects and I nod my head.
“Off to bed both of you, it’s past midnight and you’ve got a lot of pack duties to take care of tomorrow”
“Good night Asher” She wishes as she kisses my cheeks.
“Good night princess.”
“Good night bro”
“Good night Rowan”
Once they both exit my bedroom, I fall on my bed and let out a heavy sigh of exasperation.
I didn’t want to get involved in any of this, but here I am, Alpha and about to marry a girl I barely even know.
As Rowan rightly said, Alpha Adolph has something nasty up his sleeves and I need to find out what it is.
He can’t just trample over me like this and go scot free.
I’m going to strike back hard and he won’t even be ready for it.
That I swear.
