Dorothy looked at Ysabelle, who was standing by the door. She had a bad feeling. She felt that Ysabelle gave off a different vibe compared to Yezoo’s kindness. This seemingly noble lady may be her biological mother, but she still felt that something was off about her for some reason.
Credence noticed that Dorothy’s expression had suddenly soured. He followed her gaze and saw Ysabelle standing with a group of ladies. He immediately pushed the wheelchair to the door and spoke politely but in a somewhat distant manner, “Ysabelle, how long have you been there?”
“Not long! Credence, as you can see, Yezoo has hired these nannies for Dorothy. I’m here to see if you need anything else.” Ysabelle smiled. The smile on her face was somewhat ambiguous.
“I have already arranged for some other people to take care of my wife!” Credence frowned and continued, “However, I’ve yet to call them over for the time being because Dorothy is still weak.”
“Well, since you ‘ve already arranged for it, then… no matter.” Ysabelle replied, but the look on her face was rather dour. Suddenly, she heard the rumbling of a wheelchair coming from behind her. She knew that Yezoo was approaching, so she quickly put away her gloomy expression and said with a smile, “The reason Yezoo and I came here tonight is because there is something we need to discuss with you. It needs to be done in private.”
Credence raised his eyebrows in surprise. After that, he heard Yezoo’s hearty laughter. “Credence, perhaps we didn’t make it clear. You must have been confused! We’ve already paid for these ten nannies to take care of Dorothy. You can tell them to do anything that you see fit. Besides that, there is another important thing. Although you and Dorothy had a wedding ten years ago, as her parents, we haven’t officially handed Dorothy over to you. We feel deeply sorry for this! So, we came up with an idea. When Dorothy’s recovered, we will hold a wedding for you to make up for our regrets. What do you say?”
“Great! I had the same idea. Alright, I will let Benjamin discuss the details with you.”
Another wedding with Dorothy. Credence had no objections. Not only that, he completely agreed with them.
“That’s terrific!”
Yezoo nodded profusely, and the wrinkles on his forehead eased a little. “There is one more thing, Credence. How is your father doing? Is he awake?” Your father and I have been good friends for many years. When I found out that he was in an accident and fell into a vegetative state, I was distressed. If Sheldon is awake, the two of us will want to meet with him. But let’s talk about the details of the betrothal gifts first.”
“Of course, we are not asking for too much from you. It’s just the way these things are done. Besides, marriage is something that is supposed to be fun. Everything has to go smoothly. In the future, you and Dorothy will live a happy life until the two of you grow old together.”
When Credence heard this, his gaze swept across Ysabelle’s face. He didn’t know if Yezoo was the one who insisted on meeting his father or if it was Ysabelle’s idea.
If Ysabelle could stop causing so many problems, he might just write off all the dirty things she had done in the past for Dorothy’s sake.
However, if she was still scheming for new opportunities, then she shouldn’t blame him for not giving her a second chance.
Credence narrowed his eyes and nodded. “No problem! Let’s go to Monticello after Dorothy recovers. My father woke up yesterday, but the doctor suggested we don’t visit for the time being. We should give him about three months for his muscles to recover, so that he can stand again.”
“Ha! Good! I never expected that I would love to see my daughter get married as well as reconnect with an old friend at my age. This is such great news, being a father is truly worth it!”
Credence was worried about something so he didn’t continue the conversation with Yezoo. He nodded politely, turned the wheelchair with both hands and rolled into Dorothy’s ward. After that, he quickly closed the door.
As for all those other nannies, he didn’t want any of them. Whoever brought them over could take them away.
Dorothy, who was on the hospital bed. She vaguely heard Credence talking with her parents, but the door was half-closed and too far away. She did quite catch what they had talked about.
When she saw Credence return with a cold look on his face, she asked softly, “What happened?”
Seeing Dorothy’s gentle face, Credence’s mood lifted. He frowned and snorted, “Your father just said that he wants to go to Monticello with us to see my father. He also intends to hold another wedding for us. Besides that, he needs to discuss the matter of wedding gifts and other issues with my father. I don’t know if this is what he wants or if he is being pressured to do it.”
“It doesn’t matter who’s the one that wants it, we will face it together.” Dorothy was feeling tired. She slowly laid back on her bed and yawned before she continued, “Credence, I’ve thought it through and made up my mind. No matter what happens in the future, I will only trust you and love you unconditionally.”
During this period of time, he had risked his life to protect her, he did his best to take care of her, and had finally regained her full trust once more. This caused Credence’s eyes to flash with a throb of emotion.
He had so much to say, but the only word that came out of his mouth was, “Okay.”
He said this in an extremely gentle voice, much like the sound of nature, it echoed in Dorothy’s ears and lingered.
Not long after, Dorothy fell asleep. Credence stared at her for a long time before he asked Minnie to come over and take care of her.
When Minnie arrived, Credence pushed the wheelchair to the incubation room next door.
As a disabled person, it wasn’t convenient for him to go in. He could only see his baby, who was dressed in sky blue linen clothing. He was lying obediently in the incubator within layers upon layers of glass boxes. He was very small; he didn’t look that much bigger than a little kitten.
Had it not been for Jeremy and Melanie’s schemes, this little fellow wouldn’t have been born prematurely. However, when he really thought about it, he was the main reason for this child being born so soon.
Credence quietly looked at his son, who had just been born that day. He felt a faint sense of guilt in his heart. It wasn’t until he had seen enough that he turned the wheelchair around and went to Belle’s VIP ward.
Belle was awake in her ward. Even though she seemed weak, she was in good spirits. When she saw Credence come in, she blinked her big blue eyes, as she couldn’t hide her excitement. “Daddy, why did you come at such a late hour? Aunt Germaine said that Mommy has given birth to my little brother. My brother’s body is red all over, like the eyes of a rabbit. Ha, a little bunny boy, I haven’t seen him yet. Daddy, when will he jump in like a rabbit to see me?”
Upon hearing this, Credence’s face immediately darkened. But since his daughter was so happy, he didn’t argue with her. Instead, he turned around and pondered about what she said. It seemed like his son was like a little kitten or baby bunny.
He reached out and gently patted his daughter’s little bald head. He smiled and said, “Your little brother just came out today, he can’t jump around yet! Let’s wait until he’s a little older, then he’ll learn how to jump.”
Germaine came in with Belle’s medicine in her hand. She was slightly taken aback when she saw Credence on the wheelchair who had his back towards her. After a while, she came to her senses and asked with some concern, “Mr. Scott, Belle is safe with me. Don’t worry. How is Dory? I haven’t had time to see her yet. Is she awake? Is her body still in pain?”
“She woke up about an hour ago. Her body is doing fine, it doesn’t hurt as much as it did before. After her confinement period has ended, I will bring my family to Monticello to visit my father. Yezoo and Ysabelle want to come along to visit my father and to plan our wedding.” Credence narrowed his eyes. He was grateful to Germaine for taking care of Dorothy and Belle during this time. Seeing how hardworking she was, he decided to double her salary.
What? Ysabelle wanted to go along with them?
Hearing this, Germaine became anxious. She quickly stopped him. “What the f*ck, you want Ysabelle to go to Monticello? No, absolutely not, she’s up to no good.”
Credence’s eyes immediately darkened, and he asked calmly, “How do you know that?”
“I, I overheard it when I was in the toilet some time ago.”
She had kept this secret in her heart for quite some time, but she couldn’t find anyone to share this secret with. She was about to go insane.
Credence asked her what she knew. He must have known about Ysabelle’s true intentions, so she thought that there was no need for her to hide anything anymore.
Germaine immediately motioned with her eyes for Credence to follow her to the small living room. She told him everything she heard in the toilet.
When she was done, her bright face was filled with anger. “Darn, Ysabelle is such a shameless and vicious woman. She doesn’t deserve to be Dory’s mother at all.”
Credence frowned when he heard this. He stood still and clenched his fists. “So it seems that Marvin and I were right. Jeremias isn’t dead! The man who died 20 years ago was the driver he hired. In order to fake his death, he sacrificed Juelz’s mother. What a sinister man!”
“Well, about my uncle… Mr. Scott, if you really want to kill him, can you take Juelz along with you?”
As soon as Germaine made this request, Credence knew what she meant. He nodded in agreement, “Okay.”
“Thank you, I have no other requests.”
…
After listening to all that information from Germaine, Credence couldn’t relax at all. He called Marvin and asked him to transfer a large number of people to a secret hospital in Monticello as soon as possible.
He had a hunch that sooner or later, he would have to face Jeremias in that hospital.
Since Jeremias was able to climb the ranks and become a drug lord in Jenciga, he must have killed countless people along the way. He was certain that he treated human lives the same as ants.
If such a savage beast really started a fight with him, he wouldn’t rest until he died.
…
Twenty days later, Credence made a full recovery.
Dorothy recovered as well. However, under Credence’s strong and domineering care, she continued to stay in the hospital for another fifteen days.
During that period, she had been taken care of by a group of well-trained nannies. They cared for her as if she was for a newborn baby. She ate well, had lots to drink, and got enough sleep. She was five kilograms heavier than when she was pregnant. Her fair skin was full and plump. She was so well nurtured that it looked like she was shining.
Belle also recovered well. She was able to jump around. She would complain and beg to go to Monticello with her parents and her little brother to visit her grandfather. Credence rejected her each time she requested it.
This trip to Monticello would be a tough one. His energy was limited, and he couldn’t guarantee the safety of his children.
As for Credence’s son, after half a month of meticulous care, he was finally able to leave the incubation room. As a little baby, he didn’t care about the feelings of adults, he would cry when he was hungry, and when he was full, he would snore and sleep. When he slept, he ignored everything else. Not even an earthquake or a tsunami could wake him up.
In the end, under Credence’s arrangements, Belle and her little brother were both taken care of by Germaine, Jonathan, and Jeremy.
Jeremy didn’t have any deep brotherly affection towards Dorothy. He was also cruel towards the children. However, for Yezoo, he still insisted for Wilson to stay and take care of security.
At first, Wilson complained, but when he realized that they could follow and observe Germaine closely and help his boss drive away other crazy and lascivious men that had their eyes on her, he was very happy and sneaked towards Jeremy. He said with a proud look on his face, “Boss, I’ll help you keep an eye on your wife. By the time you come back from Monticello, you should give me a huge reward. The end of the year is coming, I would love to get a huge bonus to buy a house, a car, and to get married.”
“F*ck off!”
Jeremy coldly raised his eyebrows and kicked him.
Wilson, who was kicked away, wasn’t angry. He patted his behind, stood up, and smiled cheekily. He continued to bargain, “Boss, if you don’t give me a year-end bonus, I won’t update you about Miss Germaine’s movements anymore. I won’t even tell you about that doctor who’s been flirting with Miss Germaine. By then, the only thing you can do is watch as Miss Germaine becomes that doctor’s wife!”
“If you don’t report that to me, then I will f*cking kill your wife!” Jeremy smiled and threatened him with a sinister voice, “Don’t think that I don’t know who your wife is. Only a blind dog would fall in love with a perverted man like you who likes to dress up like a woman all day long!”
Wilson knelt down and begged, “Boss, I was wrong. I promise to report everything to you. I will let you know when Miss Germaine eats, sleeps or when she takes a dump. I’ll tell you everything.”
Jeremy looked at him and sneered. “I might not be able to come back from Monticello this time. If I die in a foreign country, then you must tell Germaine to find a man that she loves to marry.”
