Chapter 488 The Cause Of Their Troubles

Dorothy looked at the door in shock and saw a black wheelchair rolling in. Jonathan was joyfully pushing the wheelchair in. The man sitting on it had white gauze wrapped around his head, but he was in high spirits. He looked regal and powerful.
He had just come back from the depths of death itself, so it was no surprise he looked weary.
Dorothy was extremely taken aback. She was going to put on her shoes, but she stopped halfway. She stepped on her flat soles then slowly raised her head. Her eyes began to tear up as she looked at the man.
She said, “Credence, you’re finally awake…”
This was the man who’d never greet her good morning when they woke up from bed. But now he suddenly appeared in front of her this morning, she wasn’t prepared to meet him at all.
The night before, after listening to Dempsy’s explanation, she thought that he might take a few days to recover. But seven hours later, he had completely woken up.
Moreover, in order to see her and Belle as soon as possible, he had already asked Jonathan to push him over first thing in the morning. He would never let her down.
Dorothy finally understood just how important she was to him!
“Yes, honey, I’m awake.” Credence’s deep eyes stared at her. She was sitting at the edge of the bed with her pink and fair lips slightly parted. His voice was hoarse and joyful as he spoke.
She had been whispering to him about how much she loved him in his ear and how she couldn’t lose him. That was how his subconscious found a way to hold on to life. Otherwise, he might not be able to wake up for the rest of his life. He might even turn into a vegetative patient.
His father was a great example. When he fell from the balcony of the second floor, it was less than three meters high. Normally, a fall from such a height would only result in broken bones. The chances of falling into a coma were very small.
However, his father still fell into a vegetative state.
Perhaps, ever since his mother’s death, his father lost the only person he ever cared about, and his entire life fell apart. No light could be found in his world anymore.
There was no point in living!
Perhaps, his father thought that by turning into a vegetative state, he could be closer to his mother.
This was because his father had no will to live. All these years, his life had been relatively uneventful, but he still hadn’t woken up.
Gazing at Dorothy’s misty eyes, Credence’s heart throbbed. He urgently wanted to hug her in his arms as tightly as he could. He wanted to tell her how grateful he was for her and how much he loved her!
Their eyes met, and they stared at each other. Neither was willing to look away first. The air in the room grew thick and heavy from their passionate stares.
“D*mn, Credence, you’re flirting really hard with Dorothy right in front of me. Have you ever considered my feelings?”
Jonathan gritted his teeth when he saw that. He pushed Credence to Dorothy’s side and was about to leave. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a bald little head poking out from Dorothy’s back. She shouted, “Daddy! Oh… why do you look like that? Why are you wearing that white cloth on your head? You’re not handsome at all!”
“No matter how ugly I am, I am still your daddy.”
Credence squinted at Belle, who was waving her hands around. He turned around and glanced at Jonathan, who was watching the scene with joy, and motioned for him to take her away for a short while.
After so many years of brotherhood, Jonathan understood his message. He smirked and went over to Belle and rubbed her little bald head with a smile. “Good morning, Belle. Let me take you to the examination room for a checkup, okay?”
“But Daddy just got here! I want to be with daddy for a little while longer because I don’t feel safe. I feel like daddy doesn’t like me. He rarely comes to the hospital to see me. Daddy doesn’t like mommy, either. He always makes mommy angry. Mommy is always angry. I am angry. I am not happy. I feel scared. Uncle Jonathan, I am afraid that after I leave with you, when I come back, daddy will be gone again.”
Belle wouldn’t budge. She stretched out her little hands and pushed Jonathan’s hands away then spoke very seriously.
Her innocent tirade made Jonathan laugh out loud. He straightened up his back and laughed. “Hahaha! Belle, do you intend to make me die from laughter, so you can take over my ant-sized kingdom?”
“No, I don’t like ants. They’re black and ugly.” Belle waved her little hand and grinned. “Mr. Jonathan, if you can give me a full set of comics and a giant hamburger, I will leave with you right away. I won’t interrupt mommy and daddy’s date.”
“What the f**k. You’re a really smart girl,” Jonathan laughed.
“Of course!” Belle laughed and clapped her hands. “I want mommy to give me more brothers and sisters. Uncle Jonathan, didn’t you say that as long as daddy and mommy love each other and if they sleep on the same bed, there’s a chance that I will have a brother and sister, and then I’ll have lots of siblings and I won’t be lonely anymore? I’ll have so many siblings to play with, and if they don’t play with me, I’ll beat them up.”
When Belle finished talking, the room went exceptionally quiet. Within the silence came a wave of murderous intent marred by dark clouds.
It was coming from the man in the wheelchair.
Credence’s gentle smile suddenly turned into a frown. “Jonathan, what on earth have you been telling Belle? Get out there and stand at the corner, then reflect on your actions!”
Dorothy blushed, her cheeks turned hot. She quickly lowered her head, picked up a cup of tea by the bedside table, and drank it. She pretended not to have heard anything.
He didn’t expect Belle to take his jokes seriously. Jonathan immediately felt exposed. He shrunk his shoulders and moved as far away from Credence as he could. He didn’t care if Belle was willing or not, he stretched out his arm, held her hands, picked her up, turned around, and ran away.
“Credence, take your sweet time with her, I’m taking Belle for a checkup.”
With Belle out of his hair, Credence was able to do whatever he wanted for the next two hours.
Yup, his hearing wasn’t great. He pretended to not have heard anything, especially that last part!
After Credence was done shouting at Jonathan, Jonathan was sensible enough to take Belle out of the ward at once. There was an obvious smile on his lips, and when Dorothy lowered her head, he took the opportunity to look at her from top to bottom.
His gaze followed along her smooth neck and delicate collarbone as his eyes traveled further down.
The more he looked, the more his eyes filled with desire. His breathing was getting heavier too!
