Dorothy didn’t know what Jonathan was talking about when he reached out and pointed at Credence’s face. She frowned and asked, “Mr. Stanton, what is it you want me to see?”
“Credence, his, his eyebrows are moving… Dorothy, look, do you see it?” Jonathan asked Dorothy nervously, and his heart was wavering.
Upon hearing this, Dorothy’s lips trembled slightly and she quickly looked at Credence’s face. As expected, his cold, long eyebrows were shaking very slowly. It was barely visible.
“Dorothy, is Credence trying to tell us something?”
Jonathan leaned down and brought his ear close to Credence’s mouth. He could feel his weak breath. It went in and out, but he could not hear what he was saying.
He narrowed his eyes, trying to figure out what he was saying, then said slowly, “Credence, are you asking about Dorothy? She’s here, she’s fine, the child is fine. By the way, Belle is fine as well. We’ve found someone with a matching bone marrow. It’s Rosalie, that b*tch, what a twist of fate! If we knew that Rosalie’s bone marrow was a match, we would have captured her to save Belle much earlier, and none of this would have happened.”
Credence was lying on the hospital bed. His face was pale and very still. Only his eyebrows, which had been moving very slightly, started moving faster.
He looked a little unsatisfied.
Jonathan thought that maybe he did not want to hear about those things, so he turned over and looked at Dorothy, who was confused. He hurried over and shouted, “Are you asking about Melanie? Oh, that crazy woman fell into a ravine, her brains have been turned to mush, her arms and legs broke off, she died a terrible death. However, Marv’s men found a green bat-shaped emerald on her body. It was probably a token of her’s from the drug trafficking organization. They use them like identification cards.”
“And then, when Juelz saw it, he said he had seen the same kind of emerald in a safe in his father’s office. Marv was there at that time too, he suspects that Juelz’s father is somehow related to the drug trafficking organization. However, I feel that something’s wrong with that. Juelz’s father has been dead for nearly two whole decades. Even if he used to be a drug dealer, there was no trace of his father’s body. When he died, was his entire body completely obliterated?”
Credence’s eyelids moved left and right, it moved somewhat violently. Even though the movements were small, it was clearly moving. His sharp and thin lips pursed into a line, and were trembling.
It wasn’t an illusion. His eyes, brows, and lips were moving.
Jonathan stared at his trembling lips. After a few minutes, a thought crossed his mind. He turned his head and stared at Dorothy. He shouted in surprise, “Dorothy, Credence says that he loves you too. He loves you so much that he will never stop loving you, not even if the sky falls down or if the ground splits apart!”
After that, Jonathan noticed that Credence’s eyebrows were furrowing more aggressively. He suddenly opened his eyes, and shouted, “F*ck off!”.
Jonathan heard say the same thing again, “F*ck off!”
Dorothy didn’t expect him to shout at Jonathan as soon as he woke up. She was flustered and didn’t know what to do. The only thing she could do was stare at him, tears slowly slipped down from the corners of her eyes.
She let out a long sigh of relief, and her anxious heart relaxed once more.
The first thing he said when he woke up was to tell Jonathan to scram. Jonathan pretended to look hurt. “Oh, Credence, you’re finally awake. I’ve done so much for you, I didn’t eat, drink, or sleep for the past three days. I didn’t even have time to hook up with Minnie. How could you do this to me? Boohoo…”
Credence heard Jonathan’s sarcastic sobbing, then coughed heavily. He glanced at him coldly, indicating for him to get out of here. He did not want Jonathan to disturb his time with Dorothy.
“D*mn it! Credence, fine. I’ll leave, I’ll leave!”
After being shot with another cold glare by him, Jonathan trembled and dared not stay any longer. He ran off quickly. He was afraid that if he wasn’t fast enough, Credence would remember this and take revenge on him in the future.
Jonathan was shooed away but didn’t forget to close the door. With a light bang, the door was shut, only Dorothy and Credence were left in the room.
Suddenly, the atmosphere turned quiet. Dorothy’s long eyelashes fluttered as she clenched her fists. Her fingernails pierced into the palm of her hands. She must have dug in too deep, as she felt a slight stinging pain.
However, the pain she felt was tiny compared to the wild joy of seeing Credence wake up.
She lowered her eyes and looked straight at his face. When she saw that he wasn’t in a good mood, she couldn’t help but ask, “Credence, you’ve just woken up. Are you uncomfortable? Are you thirsty? I’ll pour you a glass of water.”
“No need.”
He stared at her with a pair of greedy eyes. He didn’t blink for a while. He looked at her like he couldn’t get enough of her.
Dorothy didn’t understand why he was staring at her like that. She was flustered. She couldn’t help but raise her hand and touch his cheek. She asked, “Is there anything on my face?”
He shook his head slightly, and then closed his lips and spoke in a deep and hoarse voice, “Honey, am I dreaming? I seemed to have heard you say that you’ve loved me ever since you were sixteen. You loved me for sixteen years, and you said that you still love me!”
Dorothy was flustered. She stared at him. She didn’t know how to answer.
She had said so many things just now. However, his unconscious mind only remembered her telling him that she loved him. Even then, he did not miss out on a single word…
Was he really unconscious, or had he already woken up but was only pretending to be unconscious?
Dorothy was dazed at first, and then she blushed. She weakly denied him, “Credence, you’ve misheard. I didn’t say any of that.”
She denied what she said, but Credence wasn’t angry. His thin lips twitched silently, as he stared at her, and said a few words, “It doesn’t matter if you don’t love me, I love you! You can only be my wife for the rest of my life… Dorothy!”
When he called her name, it was filled with love. He loved her deeply in his heart!
She survived, so did he. He could still be by her side and protect her!
The grudges between their parents were no longer important.
With his strong will as a special anti-drug soldier, Credence woke up and teased Dorothy for a little while. After that, he closed his eyes and fell back into a deep sleep.
“Credence, wake up. Stop sleeping.”
When she saw how still he was when he slept, Dorothy felt a little worried.
