Credence had drunk three whole bottles of vodka in a row, and his stomach was burning badly.
He endured the burning pain in his stomach and the sharp pain in his knees. He forced himself to stand upright and mustered the strength to walk out of the room. He took a puff of smoke and walked towards Marvin with a faint smile. He was tall and straight, like a proud pine tree.
His eyes were as deep as ink. However, at that moment, he was smiling with joy, “What did Jonathan tell you over the phone? Are you sure that he’s found a suitable bone marrow donor for Belle?”
“Yes! It is quite surprising for Jonathan to find someone with a match so quickly.”
Marvin put out his cigarette. He looked admirably at the man in front of him through the smoke.
His black shirt was tightly wrapped around his strong chest, his facial features were so defined and perfect that even a simple frown was incredibly attractive.
Credence was over thirty years old. Even though he’s been married for many years, he was still very famous in Talco City. Whether it was his facial features or for his temperament, it evolved as Credence aged.
No wonder a woman as arrogant as Melanie couldn’t resist falling for him.
Credence slowly walked out of the elevator. He took the lead and walked out of the bar. His face was blank, and the look in his eyes was incomprehensible.
After a while, he said in a low and cold voice, “What do you mean by that?”
“Jonathan has been busy searching for a suitable match for Belle in his department. After searching for so many days, he still hadn’t found anything. He was so worried that he panicked. According to him, he worked so hard and was so anxious that he didn’t dare to use the bathroom, and his pancreas was about to explode. He even said that his manhood was going to fall off…” Marvin suppressed the faint smile on his face and pinched his temples. He laughed and said, “Well, he was extremely anxious, and he brought up his worries to Minnie. Minnie is quite an interesting character. She started to take action. She secretly drew some blood from patients who needed urgent treatment in the hospital and secretly ran tests for Belle.”
Marvin lazily glanced at Credence, who listened with a sullen look on his face and he said with a smile, “Credence, in just two to three days, we found a suitable candidate.”
“What kind of a person is that candidate?”
Credence opened the door and sat at the back. Marvin got in the car, looked at Benjamin who was in the driver’s seat and nodded to indicate to him to drive. With that, he leaned his body against the back of the seat and continued the conversation. “How did Jonathan find this person?”
Marvin lit a cigarette, handed it to Credence, and then lit one for himself. He narrowed his eyes, and said, “It was just a coincidence! Just this afternoon, an eight-year-old girl arrived at Jonathan’s hospital. She was suffering from skin cancer. She was already pretty far along that not even chemotherapy didn’t work. She could only be treated with drugs and conservative treatments.”
“You know how much of an idiot Jonathan is as well. He and his weird ideas. When he saw how pitiful that little girl was, somehow, he thought of Belle. He thought that since this little girl and Belle were about the same age, perhaps their bone marrows would match.”
“Nobody would have thought that it would really be a match.” Marvin raised an eyebrow and flicked the ash off his cigarette. His usual serious expression softened significantly. He felt happy inside. “Credence, God has blessed us. Belle can finally be saved this time.”
Credence rubbed the space between his eyebrows, his eyes were deep and he pressed his lips together. At the same time, he smoked. He did not respond to Marvin’s words, but his relaxed face and the slightly raised corners of his lips showed that he was in a very good mood.
…
Forty minutes later, they arrived. Benjamin had parked the car in the hospital’s underground parking lot.
Credence got out of the car, and parted ways with Marvin.
Marvin was still seated in the car, and Benjamin immediately drove to the airport. He needed to go to Jenciga for a drug-busting mission.
“Credence, since you’ve found a suitable bone marrow donor, you should hurry up and perform Belle’s surgery.” Marvin clenched the cigarette between his fingers. “I don’t know why, but I have an unspeakably bad feeling in my heart. This is a feeling that I haven’t felt in ten years ago. Back then, you were shot down from the cliff by Melanie. I hope that it’s all just a passing feeling.”
“That’s enough. You should head to Jenciga. Take care of yourself.”
Credence shook his head and narrowed his eyes. “Don’t worry about Belle. I’ll take care of everything! However, your worries are duly noted. Something might happen if we delay it. I understand! After the doctor decides the best time to arrange for Belle’s surgery, I will immediately make preparations. As for Jonathan, I’ve already thought it through. I will protect that little girl’s life no matter how much it costs.”
Seeing that Credence had understood what he meant, Marvin didn’t waste any more time. He nodded and rolled up the window, allowing Benjamin to start the car immediately.
As the black car drove out of the hospital, Credence strode into the hospital’s hallway. He stepped into the elevator and went straight to the sixth floor.
…
In the ward.
Dorothy lay on her sickbed and waited. She waited and waited, but Credence didn’t come. She was getting restless, so she picked up her phone to call Germaine.
They talked and talked until her phone overheated and died from battery loss. She felt a small pain in her abdomen and slowly got up from the bed to enter the bathroom.
The moment she walked out of the bathroom and touched the handle of the door, her arm was held by a man. In that next second, she was dragged from behind the door.
The door was behind her, while the man’s strong body was facing her own. He pressed on her firmly.
The back of her hand subconsciously swept across Credence’s pants which were three inches below his waist. Her body tensed up. His breath brushed against her forehead as he said with a faint smile, “Baby, have you been waiting for me all this time?”
Dorothy was in a daze, and after being frightened by his sudden appearance, she was shocked. By the time she heard what he said she simply shook her head calmly.
“Ever since I’ve gotten pregnant again, I have been very dizzy. I don’t have the energy to wait for you!”
She looked up and saw Credence looking at her with a faint smile. It was obvious that he didn’t believe her. She pursed her lips and emphasized, “I just woke up, and I felt a little bloated.”
Credence knew she was lying. Every time she lied, she would purse her delicate lips, as she would feel so guilty that she couldn’t look him in the eye.
He didn’t say anything even though he saw through her lie. He lowered his head and glanced at her bulging belly. He asked softly, “Is our child behaving today?”
“Not bad, our child didn’t kick a lot today.”
As the two of them talked, no one expected Credence to suddenly lower his head and kiss her soft lower lips. Her heart and mind jolted, and he continued to lick and caress her with his tongue. “Honey, do you like it when I do this to you? You used to love it!”
His deep gaze fell onto her red lips, then towards her warm and inviting chest, and finally onto her exposed legs.
His aggressive passions were all well hidden in the deepest parts of his eyes.
“Oh, I don’t like it at all…”
Dorothy’s instinct to resist was stuck in her throat. Before she could say anything, her words were swallowed by this overbearing man.
The next second, the man spread his arms and pulled her into an embrace. When their bodies were close to each other again, there was no gap left between them.
Credence stretched out his hands and held Dorothy’s waist. He spread her legs and made his way to the softest part between her legs.
