Outside the ward, Juelz was stopped by two rows of bodyguards. He was greatly enraged when he was not allowed to go inside and visit Dorothy. He kicked the bodyguard in front of him, so angry that his eyes turned red.
“Credence, what’s the meaning of this? Why won’t you let me visit Dory?”
The bodyguard could not dodge in time and was kicked in the stomach by Juelz. However, his expressions remained the same. Soon, he caught hold of Juelz’s arms and held him down.
In order to protect Dorothy and Belle from being hurt by Melanie, Credence had spent a hefty amount of money and hired the best mercenaries who had once been on the battlefield to protect Dorothy and Belle. All of them were skilled.
Therefore, Juelz’s ordinary martial arts skills were no match for them.
Once Juelz was caught, two bodyguards who were standing behind him rushed up and dragged him away from the door in an orderly manner.
With that, Juelz was thrown aside by those bodyguards like trash. He was completely disgusted by Credence’s domineering behavior. He lost it and shouted angrily, “Credence, good, how great, so you’ve hired bodyguards. Why don’t you f*cking try to stop me from seeing her for the rest of your life?”
“She tried so hard to get pregnant in order to save Belle, but in the end, you harmed her and almost got her and her child killed. It’s been forty-eight hours since she had her operation, yet she is still unconscious and experiencing a high fever. It is all because of you, Credence!”
Juelz’s anger was not fully vented even after shouting and scolding. He took a deep breath and punched the wall hard with his fists. He said with great hatred, “Credence, every time Dory decides to be with you, nothing good has ever happened to her. She’s harmed either physically or psychologically. Credence, let me tell you, when Dory wakes up, the first thing I want her to do is to divorce you!”
At first, he thought that if Dorothy would only love Credence and no other man for the rest of her life, then he would let go of all the love he had for her. Even if he was reluctant to do that, he would still try his best to watch her leave with Credence, and then he would give her his most sincere blessing.
However, he really didn’t expect Dorothy to almost die with a miscarriage. He never expected the person who hurt her to be Credence.
“Credence, what on earth did she do wrong? Why should she bear the pain you’ve given her over and over again?”
“Credence, you deserve to die! You should be the one suffering, and you’re the one who deserves to die!”
Juelz’s shouts were loud, and it penetrated through walls. Even though there was a thick door separating them, his words still entered Credence’s ears.
After two days of rest, his body had recovered a little. With a cold face, he forced himself to sit up, get off of bed, and move to the door with difficulty. He slowly opened the door, and his stiff body heavily leaned against the snow-white wall. His cold eyes shot at Juelz, who was still shouting three meters away from him. He frowned and faintly shouted, “Get lost!”
“What?”
“Don’t make me say it a second time, otherwise, you will never see her ever again.”
Credence’s voice was low, but it was strong. A cruel aura could be heard from his words, and it was enough to make anyone shiver.
Born in the Sherman family, Juelz had been through a lot as well. He wasn’t bothered by Credence’s threat, and he glared at him. “I won’t be able to see her just because you say so? Credence, you can’t break my relationship with Dory with just a few words. If you stop Dory from seeing me, she’ll immediately turn her back to you.”
“I won’t stop her, but what if you die of an accident?”
Credence stared at Juelz with a fierce look in his eyes. “Remember, she is my woman. You don’t deserve her, and you don’t even deserve to touch a strand of her hair, let alone think of her!”
Credence did not say anything else, but what he said made Juelz even more furious. He suddenly rushed towards Credence as if he was flying, but he was stopped by the bodyguards halfway, and he could not get close to Credence at all.
Since he could not get what he wanted, Juelz’s anger flared. “Credence, you’re still aware of the fact that Dorothy is your woman?! F*ck, how have you treated her though? Have you really loved her like she’s yours?”
“What does our business have anything to do with you?”
Credence lost all patience with the aggressive Juelz!
Juelz was right. Credence knew that he’d done Dorothy wrong, but it wasn’t up to Juelz to judge his actions.
Credence narrowed his eyes, and his face darkened. He ordered the group of bodyguards coldly, “Send him out!”
“Yes, Mr. Scott.”
When they heard their boss’ orders, the bodyguards quickly rushed towards Juelz and twisted his arm. They then pushed him towards the elevator.
“Credence, f*ck you, let me go, f*cking let me go!”
No matter how Juelz shouted, these bodyguards still pushed him into the elevator diligently. In the blink of an eye, they disappeared from that floor.
Once the ratchet was gone, Credence turned back into the ward stiffly. He hadn’t even gotten near the bed when he heard Dorothy mumbling, “Thirsty… water… I want water.”
A trace of joy flashed in Credence’s heart. He endured the pain in his body and quickly walked to the bed. He poured a cup of moderately warm water and held it tightly in his hand. He leaned over to Dorothy’s pale face and waited for her to slowly lift her heavy eyelids. “Babe, are you okay? Apart from wanting to drink water, do you feel dizzy or hungry?”
When Dorothy heard his familiar voice, she shuddered, then opened her eyes. She first saw his hand wrapped around a glass of water, then slowly trailed upwards to his face.
What kind of a face was that!
His emaciated face, those reddish eyes, and the stubble on his chin made him look extremely haggard, as if he had not eaten or drank for a few days and nights.
However, what did his haggardness have anything to do with her?
After two days of high fever, the aftermath of it was that Dorothy’s brain ached and her reaction was quite slow.
After staring at Credence for a long while, she slowly moved her thin fingers inch by inch onto her belly, as if she had just woken up from a nightmare. She asked in a low voice, “How’s the baby? Is the baby still alive?”
After saying those words, she felt that her throat and lips cracking, and she felt a sharp pain. She moved her eyes from Credence’s face to the glass of water, and she fell into a daze and stopped moving.
“Yes, the baby’s fine. It’s fine.”
Credence replied to her in a hoarse voice and gently placed the edge of the cup against her dry lips. A trace of distress and tenderness could be seen in his eyes. He said, “Drink, if it’s not enough, I’ll feed you more!”
Hearing that the child was fine, Dorothy’s gray eyes finally lit up with joy. Facing Credence’s earnest care, she shook her head and motioned for him to push the bed up. After that, she reached out to take the glass of water. She then drank the water herself.
As she was still in a weak state, her hands were trembling when she drank the water.
Her face was pale, making her look like a ghost. She looked so fragile that it was almost like she’d shatter any second.
Credence’s throat was choked up. He reached out to steady the glass for her, but she shrunk away from him, unwilling to allow him to touch her.
In an instant, Credence’s hand froze awkwardly in mid-air!
